Who: barry allen + you?
Where: all over wonderland
When: April 28th through May 1st
Rating: pg-13 to be safe
Summary: out and about in wonderland + chance meetings
The Story:
( A ▍repair. )
[ all in all, of course there were zombies.
in retrospect, the whole thing might have sounded funny on a postcard, hi cisco, sup caitlin, i'm over here at wonderland and guess what, we fought zombies.
but the event that had come and gone had left a scar just beneath his skin, had left him feeling frustrated and worse than that, helpless. even in wonderland where deaths aren't permanent - deaths are still exactly that, painful and unnecessary and the only thing that keeps playing in his mind is that he couldn't help everyone when he should have been able to.
saving people in a flash, ollie said and barry was ultimately unable to.
and so he sets about to repair the damage, a flash of gold moving through the mansion and outside of it, picking and fixing and planting and clearing out before coming out to a halt just outside the mansion.
he takes off the mask, however. there's no point in hiding anymore. the world was far too small and far too dangerous and if something happened now or in a moment, he needs people to know they can come to barry allen just as they can count on the flash.
( can they? )
he runs his hand through his hair and with a little sigh, looks around.
there are more things to do before the day comes to an end and work is, after all, a distraction. a chance to run from everything else that hovers at the back of his mind. ]
( B ▍beach and roof )
[ eventually, the mansion feels too crowded and too small and so he runs. it's frustrating in its own way, having such a clearly finite space to run, clear limits where he must stop or else. his mind is peacefully devoid of thoughts at first, running through wonderland, mansion, gardens, beach, woods before it all becomes a bit too repetitive.
you might find him at the beach or on the roof, bottle of beer in hand.
it won't do anything, naturally. barry's power mean he can't really ever get drunk unless it's caitlin's stuff and since he lacks both the alcohol and his friend, he remains constantly sober.
in a moment of anger, he throws the bottle only to run ( down the walls of the mansion or even more surprising, on the sea's dark water ) and bring it back, tossing it into a nearby bag.
annoyed or not, he doesn't believe in littering. ]

That is quite impressive. Her siblings are fast, but even they can't maintain that kind of speed.
She waits until the person in question swings back again, and she raises an eyebrow.]
I suppose seeing things I haven't seen before is something I'm going to have to become accustomed to.
no subject
this is the one place I know has weirder things than me.
[ talking lizards, for once. he offers her a hand ]
hi - Barry Allen.
no subject
[She reaches up and shakes his hand with a smile.]
My world certainly has plenty of strange, but not of your variety. At least not that I've seen before.
no subject
[ he smiles a bit, scratches the back of his head. it's a little bit easier to have people who know and understand barry allen and how he came to be and then a lot of other people who simply know him as the flash. to be open about his speed is not something he imagined doing here.
but wonderland has definitely changed a lot of things ]
I used to be sort of a first in my world, too.
[ at least for a while ]
no subject
[Her eyebrows climb a bit at that.]
Is it magic, or a kind of science?
no subject
[ the lady gaga bit is very important ]
no subject
And this speed you have - is that the only thing you can do?
b
Fascinating. You're moving faster than the pull of gravity and still manage to change direction abruptly enough not to crash into the ground.
no subject
that's pretty accurate, yeah. it's been a work in progress, I really wanted to avoid the whole maybe-crashing part.
no subject
What fuels your speed?
no subject
[ he smiles a bit awkwardly. so far, those weren't hard to come by in wonderland but if the mansion will ever stop giving them endless amount of food, he'll be in a speck of trouble. ]
Without them, I can't really do the speed thing. My - cells are different on the molecular level, if you know what I mean.
[ he suspects she does ]

[ he smiles a little ]
Not your normal every day circumstances but that's it in a nutshell.
no subject
[Lucky for Barry, Adventure Time has even screwier science than comic books do.]
Have you attempted to recreate the circumstances?
b
And then she sees some run ... down the walls of the mansion. Or, rather, what she mostly sees is a flash of gold. Which she assumes is attached to a person. So when she sees the flash -- ha -- again, she calls out.]
Hey! Hold up! [It's not an unfriendly tone.] Are you...inhuman? [SHE SWEARS IT'S NOT AN OFFENSIVE TERM, it's just the name of her kind of powered people in her world.]
no subject
sorry - hold on -
[ it'll take him another moment to actually put that one out, all the while he explains to her - ]
meta-human. barry allen - hi -
[ once it's out, he offers her a hand ]
sorry about that.
no subject
Her eyebrows do lift slightly at the sight of, you know, his shoes on fire.]
Daisy Johnson. [She shakes his hand.] Meta-human, sorry. [She corrects herself upon learning the proper term for his type.] I'm still trying to learn the differences between names for powered people; I'm obviously the inhuman type.
[A beat.] Are your shoes gonna make it here? [Her tone remains friendly.]
no subject
[ the names and - the shoes. it's barry's allen luck to make a bit of a fool of himself in front of every awesome girl he meets. ]
I think they might survive. If not, the closest seem to give me three new pairs every morning, I don't think I'll miss these. Sometimes stopping at once after moving so fast makes them catch fire but it's nothing to - worry about.
[ just stop talking, barry ]
um, so! have you been here a while?
B
Okay, now that was just kinda redundant, don't you think?
[The tone holds sarcasm, playful in and of itself, but there's no surprise at the sight he just saw.]
Would've been a hell of a lot easier just to aim for the bin, wouldn't it? I really hope you weren't aiming for it because... [He makes a face that says "wow, you suck".] I think there's a target practise range around here somewhere.
no subject
[ with the same easy sarcasm and a little shrug. if barry is used to sarcasm, it's because he worked once with one eobard thawne and then with harrison wells.
...not to mention iris when she doesn't have her morning coffee.
he takes a seat on the sand, looking at all the tech ]
it's quite a place for a lab.
