Who: Clint Barton and YOU
Where: All over Genosha
When: Duration of the Event (8/5-8/9)
Rating: PG-13?
Summary: Clint is human and one of the leaders of the human resistance movement. Later on he's just trying to convince everyone this is all an event.
The Story:
Things had been bad in Genosha for some time. Mutants and humans fighting, but since the Queen's message things have gone from bad to worse.
As a leader of the resistance movement Clint is always ready for a fight, always looking for new ways for them to reassert themselves as people who are entitled to the same rights as mutants. Being a skilled marksman is an advantage he has over some other resistant fighters and he can often times be found helping get people out of scraps with mutants. He might not be entirely anti-mutant, he can apprciate a good ally, but when push comes to shove Clint will always put his fellow humans first. An ally is still a mutant, and they can't always be trusted.
Halfway through the fourth day, memories are going to return and Clint's plans of stopping the mutants are going to change to just stopping everyone before all the mansion residents end up killing each other because of an event half of them don't even know they are in. If someone sticks around him long enough they will start to remember too and maybe he can convince them to help him round everyone else up.

It's halfway through the fourth day that he runs into Clint. They didn't know each other well, but they'd spoken a few times, seen each other around.
"Hey, how's it going?"
He sticks his hand out, throwing Clint a small grin.
"James Barnes."

He reaches out to shake Bucky's hand, feeling like he knows more about Bucky than he should. It's a feeling that he hasn't been able to shake all day, like there is something he is missing and that something about this world is...off.
"Clint Barton. They call you Bucky, right?"
no subject
"How'd you know that? That I go by Bucky."
He wants to ask if Steve told him. There's really nobody else, but he doesn't want to bring Steve up and risk putting him in danger.
no subject
"Steve's mentioned it to me." He really hopes that doesn't make something worse, because the more he remembers the more he's convinced something is wrong.
no subject
Bucky's getting a weird feeling from all of this, but he trusts Steve more than anybody. If this guy is a friend of Steve's, then that has to mean something.
"I'm not trying to jump down your throat, but we're in the middle of an uprising. Can't be too careful."
no subject
Clint nods. "Understandable. You can always check with Steve. But I've got no love for mutants, I've never made that a secret."
no subject
"Yeah, sorry again about all this."
Bucky crosses his arms over his chest, eyes moving across Clint's face as he's struck with a sudden wave of familiarity.
"Maybe we've met before?"
no subject
"Maybe. I just know Steve talks about you. Best friends." There's more he could say but its almost eery how much he knows about Bucky, probably a little more than he should. He grew up hearing about Steve and Bucky and how does that make any sense at all?

Angry enough that she has a mutant cornered who can't hurt her unless they touch her, just like Andrea. And she's taunting, katana at the ready. "We could just cut off your hands. Then you can't hurt anyone."
When she sees Clint, it's no concern to her. She's seen him around, knows who he is. "Wha do you think?" she calls to him. "Mutants might be less of a threat, if we take away the source of their ability."
no subject
He comes up on Michonne, someone he knows from Genosha more than Wonderland, he wonders exactly how he's going to convince her to let the mutant go. "Don't," he said approaching cautiously.
no subject
"Shit. That's on you, next one of us he hurts, or worse, that's on you."
At least he didn't have to convince her to do anything, in that regard.
no subject
"You're going to thank me for that in a day or two." Or at least he hoped this event wasn't going to last much longer. "This world isn't real, I know that sounds crazy but it's the truth."
no subject
"You're the second person who's said that." Now, Michonne puts her katana away and looks more wary than anything else. "You're damn right it sounds crazy." But there's no way he could know about the conversation she had with Andrea, and what are the chances two separate people on two separates sides would tell her the same thing.
"What do you mean it isn't real?"
no subject
He moves closer, approaching her at a slower pace. "I mean that this place is all in our heads. We're all stuck in a place called Wonderland and it likes to mess with out memories, taking out what we know and replacing it with something else- with this."
no subject
And that's the real kicker. Michonne's known Andrea all her life, then the day she found out she was a mutant, abandoned her. Never gave Michonne a chance to do anything but hate her.
"How? If this is true, then what the hell?" A human and a mutant, both with the same story, and Michonne's faltering, her stoic expression faltering a little. "Why don't I remember anything like what you're saying?"
no subject
"I don't know. Everyone's explanation is always magic. Something about the magic of this place can take us from our worlds and change our memories." Which isn't exactly reassuring. "These mutant aren't our enemies, usually they are allies- friends." He thinks of Natasha and the two sets of memories he has of her- enemy here but best friend normally.
no subject
"If you're not bullshitting me, if he's not, then eventually I'll remember. Is that what you're saying?"
What if the things she remembers are worse than the things she knows now?
no subject
"I know it's hard to believe and it's confusing but it's the truth and that's all I've got." He would rather know everything then live in a false world. Mind control was not something he was a fan of.
no subject
It means she really does care. She came to her because she remembered something, because she knew this world wasn't it for them.
"She was telling the truth, and I tried to hurt her."
Shit.
"Has anyone else remembered that you know of?" Michonne wants to know, desperately, but so far nothing's coming back. She only has a sense of dread that she's done something she won't ever be able to fix.
no subject
"Yes, a few. Not many, but with the way things here work then more and more will." He hoped. He hoped that he was right and this wasn't just some mutant trick that was making him think his life was a lie.
no subject
"If this turns out not to be true, we're gonna have another talk," she warns, but she's already making her way down the street. If it's true, she's going to get more information from the person who said hating her was a mistake.
sorry for the lateness!!!! day four pls? lmk if you need anything changed.
He knows the truth of her origins-- that it had never truly been her acting against the humans in favor of the mutants. That even after the mind control had stopped, she'd felt obligated to keep working in their favor as if somehow she owed them. Then Angel had come along and somehow helped her climb desperately out of the impossible situation she'd found herself in. She'd killed, and tortured, and for what?
"So, what? You're saying this is all some kinda dream or something?" She shovels another forkfull of chocolate chip pancakes into her mouth before reaching over the giant file full of mutant profiles to grab some more syrup. "Kinda detailed, don'tcha think?"
Despite how crazy he sounds, she listens. Because Clint Barton is trustworthy, down to the marrow of his bones. It's why Faith is going to go back into the heart of mutant territory and act like she's on their side still, until the day he says she doesn't need to anymore.
no subject
"Sort of. This place makes us forget who we are sometimes, it changes our memories." He's not really sure how to explain it- it's something he wouldn't have believed until he lived it, but if his memories are coming back then maybe other people's will too. He takes a long swallow from the coffee mug his hands are wrapped around.
"Listen, would I lie? I know something is coming. A mutant attack on the humans, only it's going to be friends attacking friends when all is said and done. We need to prevent that."
no subject
"Just-- I know better than a lot of people how your mind can get messed with. Not sure if it's all of us, or just you." Her look turns pointed, and Faith shrugs. And in goes another slab of pancakes.
no subject
"As far as I know right now it's just me. But if my memories are coming back then other people's probably are too."
no subject
"Oh yeah. Something's definitely wrong." But she's just being a pain, and she knows it. And despite that she's biting this bait, Faith's eyes narrow when she asks: "So, why you then? Why're you so special?"
no subject
As for a real answer, he has no idea why he's getting his memories back, but explaining Wonderland never really worked.
no subject
"OK so let's say you're right. What's the point? Some kinda power play by a mutant or something? Make us all think we're living one life so they can root somebody out, maybe?" Though she's not terrible at the whole logic and rationalization thing, Faith's having trouble expanding it from Genosha, still.
But she does feel more compelled to believe Clint, for some reason. It doesn't seem so far-fetched that she wants to dismiss it out of hand...
no subject
"That's the thing. Its not mutants. There are no mutants where we are from. Or well I guess there has to be one, since it pulls these events from our memories....but my point is there aren't an abundance. Theres no war between mutants and humans. We have more than just that. Witches, wizard, vampires, i think there's a talking pigeon."
no subject
"Wait-- like, I vant to suck your blood?" And despite how unsure she is about it, Faith can't help herself now. She leans in, joking but also focused. Maybe it's crazy, or maybe he's on to something.
"So I might actually have fangs. Or wings. Which sounds like it'd take some serious juice to make happen, right? We'd be talking seriously big guns."
no subject
He looks her over raising an eyebrow. "Do you want wings? I don't think I've seen anyone with wings. But sure, you could totally have wings. Or super strength or fangs and live off blood."
no subject
"I just thought, you know-- bats." Which is a horrible defense and Faith 100% knows it. Still, she's amused and there's something here in this conversation about things that go bump in the night.
"Could totally get behind super strength. If I gotta eat blood though there better not be any glitterskin involved. You could be my werewolf buddy."
no subject
"Like vampires that turn into bats?" At least she's humoring his crazy conversation for now.
"Why do I have to be the werewolf? I thought werewolves and vampires didn't get along." He doesn't want to be the one that gets fleas.
no subject
"You gotta be the were, sorry."
no subject
"I guess I can live with that....even if thats not actually what my real life is like." They may have lost the point of this conversation somewhere along the way.
no subject
The more she thinks about it in any capacity, the more it's like a fog is lifting from her brain.
"You think we still know each other in Wonderland?" ...Wait where did that name come from?
no subject
He raises an eyebrow at her, because he definitely hadn't said that. "I'm not sure, we might."
no subject
"That's weird, I keep getting this idea like-- we're roommates, or something?" She sits up straighter, uncomfortable with the sensation of memories fighting out of the muck.
