Who: Agent Washington and You!
Where: Genosha
When: Duration of the event.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: It isn't that Wash hates humans, it's just that he's seen the way they treat people who are different
The Story:
Growing up in Genosha hadn't exactly been easy, not when his mutation manifested itself in the entire school's power supply shorting itself out at the moment he'd smashed that bully's face into a bathroom mirror, but it sure as hell beat trying to grow up anywhere else. Leaving home to escape a family that didn't get him would have been a hell of a lot more difficult if he'd lived anywhere else, where there weren't laws in place to help mutant children of normals escape those situations.
He didn't hate his family. It's not their fault that they were incapable of understanding.
He'd ended up in the military. Too useful with his powers not to when there were so many operations that benefitted from communications being shut down and electricity going haywire. Things had been good. He'd had a family. Until the damn humans started getting pissy, couldn't stand that there was one place in the world where they weren't on top. And it was too similar to things he'd seen in other places.
When the offer to join the task-force had come, it had been a no-brainer. He wanted to protect Genosha. He couldn't do that if people inside it were trying to destabilise things.
He's often out walking the streets, visiting his favourite coffee shop, or training in the garrison. Waiting for missions to come in, or for trouble to start. It always did eventually.

All said and done, she's pretty damn bitter about it. The moment she'd heard word of the Human Resistance Movement forming, she'd joined up and started fighting against the Anti-Human task force, and hell, any Mutant who dared say that Humans were lesser.
As of right now, she's on a mission for the rebels. Just a quick intel gathering mission, only one person needed, a step in the direction of sabotaging what parts of the Anti-Human Task Force that they can. Hopping a fence with ease, Carolina is officially in a restricted area, but it's not so highly guarded. Should have no trouble getting some intel and then getting back out.
Taking to creeping along near-silently, she ducks behind walls, making her way slowly and carefully. It's a surprisingly long while before she hears anyone nearby, which has her pausing at a corner and drawing her pistol. A pause, and she listens. Footsteps, headed her way. Sounds like a regular patrol of the area, and only one person. Easy.
Waiting for the right moment, Carolina remains hidden just until the figure starts to pass, at which point she steps out, gun aimed at their head. She has no intention to kill anyone if she doesn't have to, so it all depends on whether the person complies or not. Her mouth opens to give the usual spiel to get him to drop his weapons, but she finds the words stuck in her throat as she gets a better look at the face and realizes that she recognizes it.
"--Wash?"
It's great!
He heads along the back fence at the end of the compound when he hears something. Movement. There shouldn't be anyone here. Could just be a stray cat. They sometimes get in, not that he's familiar with all of them or anything. He goes still, reaching for his sidearm as he walks up towards the wall and then-
Bright red hair. An expression of shock. And a gun pointed right at him. he stares at her, and grabs the chain link fence with one hand.
"Carolina! What- what are you doing here?"
no subject
But it is. Honestly, Carolina's assumed he's had more sense than that, even after she'd lost touch with him.
There's a moment of hesitation, but she lowers the pistol. They may not be part of a team anymore, but it still doesn't feel right to have a weapon aimed at him. Drawing a steadying breath, she straightens her stance and looks Wash over, green eyes sharp. Her guard doesn't drop--she can't let it, not while she's in what's considered enemy territory, and not while she can't be sure she can even trust him.
"What are you doing here?" She throws the question right back, silently hoping that her guess is wrong. That he's not here for the reasons she thinks he is. Even if she knows damn well that's too optimistic an outlook to be taking.
no subject
Kind of a shame. It would have been useful in his line of work.
He frowns at that question. "What do you think I'm doing? I'm working."
no subject
"You're working here?" Despite her best efforts, Carolina's voice raises slightly. Honestly, she feels... hurt. They'd been friends once! They'd worked together so well. And now... "You're part of the task force? Are you serious?"
no subject
"I'm useful here, so yeah, I'm working here. They asked me. I said yes."
no subject
"Somewhere that isn't trying to get rid of every single human on the island."

But would a mutant understand that? No, of course not. They have their powers, and they believe those make them superior. Funny, because Carolina recalls defeating handfuls of mutants on her own throughout her life, but no, because she's a human, she's still lesser. Still not as good.
"We're sick of mutants treating us unfairly. We want equality, not control!"
no subject
"It never stops there though. It's always 'sure, you can have equality as long as you don't act weird, as long as you don't make anyone uncomfortable."
no subject
"We don't want that kind of 'equality'. If we weren't okay with the powers mutants have, we wouldn't still be here!" That's never been the problem for her. At most, she's been jealous of their powers, but not so much so that she'd want them to not be allowed to use them. Jesus Christ. "Besides, do you think it makes any of you much better for treating us the way you are? It makes you just as bad as the humans in the rest of the world."
no subject
"We are fighting for survival. The first sign of weakness and other governments will be on us, thinking they can take over by stealth. And then we're back to where we were. I've had too many people tell me I need to be cured to go back to that."
no subject
"No, Wash. It isn't. And as disgusting as the way humans treat mutants elsewhere is, what's happening here isn't any better." Carolina shakes her head. "Should have known you still wouldn't see it that way, though. None of you do." Re-holstering her gun, deciding that standing here and arguing is going to go nowhere and is just wasting time, she makes to brush past him. "I have business to attend to. I'd say it was good to see you again, but all you've done is remind me why we stopped talking in the first place."
no subject
"At least you'd all have other places to go," he says, anger growing and showing in his voice. "This is all we have and we're not going to let it be ruined because humans can't handle not being catered to for once." His grip on the chainlink fence tightens, and it sparks where electricity begins to flow through it. "I can't let you just walk out, Carolina. this is restricted area."
no subject
Regardless, Carolina pretends to ignore what Wash says with intent to complete her mission. Until he says he can't just let her go, at which point she pauses to stare him down.
"Then stop me," she challenges, stance quickly becoming something more aggressive, practically daring him to even try. Wash might be a mutant, but that's never stopped her from beating him in a sparring match. If he wants to pick a fight, then she welcomes him to bring it. "If you think you can."
no subject
He forces power into the fence, keeping it sparking with electricity, enough to stop her using that way as a quick escape, at least for a little while.
"You think I can't call the rest of the team here in a minute?"
no subject
"You think I care about your team?" She shoots right back at him, green eyes sharp and glaring. In all honesty, she might not be able to hand a full team of mutants--it depends on their powers--but she's not about to show any sign of uncertainty. "By the time they get here, I could have you on the ground and be gone. Easier for both of us if you just let me by, Wash, but if you really think that humans are the scum of the earth then please, call your team. I'll show you that you're no better than us."
