Summary: Billy and Bonnie meet up for their morning coffee and discussions are had
The Story:

So. That was an event. Billy hasn't faced an event from his world before and he can't say he was eager to repeat it. That- well...he supposes it could have been worse. He could have been a royal grandson. There would have to be a lot of explanations if that was the case. At least Wanda wasn't here anymore, he didn't really want to have to explain that back home that whole thing was her doing...

But he was trying to put it out of his mind. Meeting up with Bonnie for coffee was something they did on a regular basis and it would be nice to see his friend after everything that happened.

It was also nice to know that even thrown in an alternate world they had been friends- that always made things less awkward.

He was just debating if he wanted to get up and grab a muffin when he spotted Bonnie and sent her a smile and a wave.

Bonnie Bennett moves like she's on a mission-- she's not, that's just how she walks. As if there are monsters to slay and damsels to save around every corner. That doesn't mean she can't return Billy's smile with a flash of her own when she spots him and waves.

"OK, so I'm pretty sure that you plus coffee is the only thing capable of luring me out of my room after that mess." She huffs out the words as she leans down to give Billy a hug of a greeting-- it's another venue in which Bonnie gives 400%. This is a bear hug that betrays her lighter tone. She needs some grounding and she comes from a social circle of huggers back home.

Billy is pretty sure he hasn't gotten this many hugs from anyone since the whole Teddy thing- not that he's going to bring that up because that was before Bonnie's time in Wonderland and really he didn't want to talk about how he was murdered by his boyfriend- ex boyfriend? Either way.

He returned the hug tightly, needing it just as much. "Coffee has a strong pull, can I also interest you in a chocolate chip muffin?"

"God yes." She moves back to give Billy room to maneuver and slings her bag over her seat before they move to the counter to hunt their carby quarry. Her arm slips into his as they go, both to seek and give the comfort she's pretty sure they both need right now.

"In fact, I think I'm to the point where I just want to stay in the dining room and eat fudge for a week."

He laughs. "Why bother with fudge when you can stuff your face with Darcy's double chocolate muffins?" Which is exactly what he gets when they make it to the counter, and another espresso because someone might have a caffeine addiction.

Bonnie lets out a teasing laugh, a challenge as she rises to the debate.

"OK no diss about the muffins but you and I have very different rubrics for chocolate, Billy." But she's not passing up her own muffin, is she? It's set to the side as she assembles her own caffeinated beverage, some recipe that will satisfy some nebulous craving she's having. Is that raspberry syrup? Count Bonnie in.

"You can't honestly tell me baked goods flavored with chocolate trump pure creamy dark goodness!"

"Probably depends on the quality of the chocolate." He grinned leaning against the counter as she made her coffee, talking about chocolate was a lot easier and more comfortable than talking about what happened in that last event, or admitting the event was from his world.

"Are we talking Godiva or Hershey's?"

[goeth]

Avoiding realtalk? Definitely not a hobby participates in often, but then again she's never encountered anything remotely like Genosha-- or like Wonderland's ability to make her think she grew up there.

"OK Godiva forever, but I will always take a bar of dark chocolate Hershey's over a brownie."

[actualwizard]

"Brownies, I have to go with the brownies. But only dark chocolate ones with powdered sugar on top." He might have a slight weakness for brownies, Bonnie. "But I would take a Hershey bar over chocolate ice cream."

Such easy talk and if he snags a brownie from the display case as they make their way back to the table well that's entirely Bonnie's fault. Except one bite in and he wants a glass of milk. There's no real point to having powers if he can't be lazy and conjur up a glass of milk, right?

"OK, so brownies-- cakey or gooey?" She'll play along. At least until she's done getting settled, snacks and drink in front of her. Bag hanging on the back of her chair, and a Billy to smirk at across the table.

[actualwizard]

"Umm can I say a mix of both? You need to find the perfect balance." So he's very particular about brownies. Brownies were an art. He grins as her across the table as she gets settled.

[goeth]

Bonnie grins, shaking her head in mock shame.

"Hmm, OK that's better than totally cakey at least. But I'm watching you now. If you bake me brownies for my birthday you better undercook those suckers..."

[actualwizard]

Billy snorted out a laugh. "I'm not sure you want me baking. Last time I tried that I almost blew up the kitchen here. Darcy got flambe cupcakes."

He sent her a teasing look. "On second thought, you might like flaming brownies."

[goeth]

She tries her hardest to keep a straight, unimpressed face.

But it doesn't last long, and Bonnie's nudging Billy's calf with her foot under the table as she huffs out a hesitant laugh.

"Yeah, yeah. Though, apparently I like flaming everything."

Billy laughs. "It's not my fault the first thing you did here was set the tea room on fire. Maybe Wonderland was getting revenge."

It's a joke, but knowing this place it could have been.

"And then you tried to set my dinosaurs snacks on fire. Really Bonnie, that's just rude."

[goeth]

The noise that comes from Bonnie is a decidedly-embarrassed groan as she grimaces and lets her head fall to hang pathetically back.

"You're never letting me live that down are you?" Her shoulders start to shake with laughter, and her head tips forward again. "God, that was so bad, wasn't it?"

Billy's smile widens. "Which time?" He asks, laughter in his voice. "And no, never letting you live it down. It was a great introduction. "It wasn't that bad, I mean it could have been worse, you could have I don't know, set the woods on fire instead. Usually people frown on forest fires."

[goeth]

Bonnie's face falls a little at the idea of burning down bigger things.

"Yeah, well-- I almost did hurt a lot of people." She'd been so sure of herself. Bonnie had heard that these kinds of events could happen, but after experiencing it she thinks she prefers zombies and chaos.

[actualwizard]

Billy frowns sympatheticly. He's been there, this place turned him into a mindless HYDRA drone once and he'd hurt a lot of people he cared about before he was stopped.

"But you didn't. Which is the important part. This place- it fucks with our heads and you can't hold yourself responsible for what it makes you do when you're not you." He pauses. "I know that's a lot harder to do than it sounds."

[goeth]

"I don't know if I know how to do that..." she replies.

Lately it's feeling like things slip through her fingers far easier than they did back home. She and Elena had been so desperately trying to scramble back to Mystic Falls when they first arrived. But even when Wonderland screws with their heads, she's not sure that it isn't a better alternative to home. She just-- isn't ready to admit that to herself.

"Like. Maybe I'm not wired that way."

"Well you're in luck, because I'm the King of hanging on to guilt that I shouldn't . So if I've learned how to do it then I can try and help you." Try being the main word here, but Billy had learned more or less how to let things go here. Or really just more bad things pile on top of the rest of them and he has no choice but to let some of it go or he would just drown in depression. And he'd already done that once he was trying very hard not to do it again.
