Summary: Log for the BEST TEAM IN THE SCHOOL.
The Story:

A. PRACTICE (SUNDAY)

[There's at least one proper organized practice, on Sunday morning before anyone heads off to Hogsmeade. James takes his position as captain with a great amount of pride, and he's always trying to come up with new plays, new strategies, and new ways to make their team the absolute best it can be. There's almost always a lot of building up his teammates and talking down the other teams, especially Slytherin.

At the end of the day though, the other teams don't matter as long as they do their best - because according to James, Gryffindor's best could beat anyone, even professional teams. You also probably have to endure terrible metaphors about how they're a pride (like a pride of lions), but he's so enthusiastic about it that it's hard to really fault him for it.

This particular practice, James brought along a few dozen pumpkin pasties and juice as something of an apology for having practice during Hogsmeade weekend. There's a match coming up and they need all the practice they can squeeze in!]

B. PITCH (WHENEVER)

[Even when they don't have official practices, James tends to put in at least an hour of training in on his own, as long as no other teams have it. He tends to go in the morning before class, to wake himself up and tart his day.

Though...to be honest, he doesn't always practice daily, but lately he's felt the insatiable need to fly as much as he can. Eh. Maybe he's getting nostalgic in his last year.

Either way, he'll happily practice with anyone who turns up, in an even more informal practice setting.]

C. WHEREVER (WHENEVER)

[Shepard can't even complain there's a practice on their normal travel weekend- she loves playing, and loves flying even more, so she's always happy to pal around with the team and especially her fellow Chasers. They're the playmakers! And despite James being team captain, she won't play second fiddle to him when it comes around.

So she's here ~~queer~~ and ready to work! Approach her as you wish.]

[ooc: while I won't be changing Shepard's icons for this, her younger pb is Susan Coffey!]

[Connie may not be on the quidditch team now, but that doesn't mean she doesn't plan to be on it some day in the future! Which means, she definitely needs to fit time into her schedule at Hogwarts to practice. It'd be pretty difficult to do it back at home, after all, due to a severe lack of a magical family.

So when she arrives on the field, carrying one of the school's brooms, she's kind of surprised to see someone already there- a member of the real team, to boot.]

Oh! Oh, sorry, I- I checked the schedule, but I guess I misread it- I didn't realize you were having practice today! Sorry, I'll get out of your hair!

[Generally speaking? Rose is one of those people who would rather be training than doing just about anything else. On a Hogsmeade weekend though? This is not the face of somebody that looks particularly happy to be here.]

The first person that tries to tell me being here instead of Hogsmeade is a good thing, gets a bludger to the head.

[Just point her towards the Pumpkin Pasties, that should shut her up for a bit.]

[ As seeker, Henry takes his role very, very seriously. And not just because he wants to shake whatever reputation comes with having your mom and your aunt as a teacher at your school. He's on his broom, chasing a mock snitch that will wear itself out after five minutes if he doesn't catch it. He pours on the speed and as it turns out, he's actually pretty good at this. Once his hand closes around the snitch with a minute to spare, she lands and grins. But, that's nothing when there's no one competing with you. ]

Okay, who wants to go head to head?

[ He's kind of okay with missing Hogsmeade, truth be told. There will be another, but he can always get better. ]

I wouldn't go that far.

[Jo wrinkles her nose as she comes to a stop beside Rose, leaning on her own broom. She would much rather be in Hogsmeade, too, and if she was anywhere near as good at handling a bludger as Rose was, she'd grab a second one and aim right alongside her.]

"Good" seems like too strong a word, but we gotta make use of the pitch while we have it, I guess. Maybe we'll get done early?

[She hopes, anyway.]

[Jo runs up to Shepard from behind as they gather for practice, broom in hand, clapping her fellow Chaser on the shoulder in greeting.]

Check out the apology breakfast Potter brought. Not bad, huh?

[Don't give up on Hogsmeade just yet, Henry; there's plenty of hours in the day!]

I'll give it a shot.

[Jo grins broadly; she's no Seeker, but she believes that every member of the team is responsible for helping the others be their best, however they can.]

[Even before they started dating, Lily knew exactly where to look for James Potter in the early morning hours. There's still some time before classes start, enough that it's not worth hurrying him away from his practice, but she's more than happy to spectate for the time being. She seats herself in the stands to watch, two covered mugs of warmed pumpkin juice beside her on the bench.

She smiles and waves as James flies by, cupping her hands around her mouth to shout for him.]

Oi, Potter!

[Sirius hovers before the goals, ready and waiting for Shepard's next attempt at getting past him.]

You might be able to flash those pretty eyes at a Slytherin and trip them up, darling, but you know you can't use that on me, right?

[He beams innocently at her and tightens his grip on the broom. It wouldn't be unheard of for her to lob the ball directly at him.]

[Sirius has knocked so many balls out of the air at this point that he's noticeably sweating as he alights beside the treats James brought. The juice is perfect for refreshing him, and once he's quenched his thirst he starts shoving pasties in his face. It's not his most attractive look, but he can't help how hungry he gets during practice.

Once he's refreshed himself, he's ready to keep the goals once again, or help anyone else who needs it.]

Aww. You don't want to hang out with me? I'm hurt, Rose.

[Sirius pokes her with his broom.]

I'm sure someone'll bring us back some treats.

[Mettaton knows that bothering James while he is practicing probably isn't the best thing to do, but their "friendly" rivalry is such a point of amusement for him that he can't stop himself from "accidentally" picking the times he knows the other wizard will be out on the pitch for doing magical mic checks.

If anyone knew better (or thought a little harder about it) this could easily be interpreted as a special brand of Mettaton Flirtation; but he knows he has no chance whatsoever with Potter since goodness, who could beat out Lily?

He adjusts the bronze horn...tuba... thing, and taps it a few times.]

Testing, testing, testing! This is Mettaton, broadcasting during Gryffindor Quidditch Captain James Potter's solo practice time! To anyone who may be listening, how much do you want to bet on him falling off his broom?

[So he uses his Commentator powers to be a bit of a heckler. Sue him!]

We've only got the pitch because nobody else would be crazy enough to want it this weekend.

[She might have been more forgiving if she felt they needed the practice but like James? Rose was confident in their teams abilities and arrogant enough to think they could win their next match without the extra practice. Heck she was sure they could win even without their full team.]

We better... There's a chair at the Three Broomsticks with my name on it and I vote the drinks are on James. [A restless Rose, passing her broom from hand to hand. The tail hovering a few inches above the ground as it dances from left to right.]

Speak for yourself, Black. I'm still planning on going.

[At least she wants to believe that James wouldn't seriously make them miss the whole trip.]

I'll even make it up to you and let you buy me a butterbeer. [A grin finally daring to grace her lips as Sirius brings out the sass in her.]

[As a magical nurse assistant, Mikan has to be there before, during, and sometimes after injuries occur. And Qudditch isn't exactly the safest sport out there. So she quietly sits on the side lines, watching it all happen in case someone gets hurt.

... Is it your imagination or does she look a little eager for someone to get hurt?]

I'll second that.

[The younger Gryffindor smirks, confident that the rest of the team will probably help that vote to carry-- even if James had already been good enough to provide pasties and juice.]

I don't think anyone's headed down to the village yet, anyway-- but we can probably milk the fact that practice is keeping us from getting an early start.

[Souji is ethical enough not to come watch the Gryffindor team practice--sure it would be a good strategy for beating them, but he wouldn't feel like he'd really won if he did that. Adapting in the moment is part of truly crushing an opponent.

He shows upon the pitch while James is practicing one day early in the week and just stands and watches him. Like a creeper. He's got his broom with him, holding it over his shoulder like a bat, but the stance is casual. Like he just happened to bring it with him.

[ Henry grins when Jo volunteers. ]

Thanks! So, I'll let the snitch go, but if you see anything in my technique that I can work on, let me know. I really think we can win everything this year if I can get better than Frisk.

If you ask me, I think you're already better.

[Though she's hardly unbiased in that department; she's of the opinion that the Gryffindor team is far and away better than any team Slytherin has ever managed to cobble together-- not an uncommon sentiment among them, she's sure.]

But you got it. I'll keep an eye on you, see if there's anything you can tighten up.

[Yes, James is sure Souji just happened to bring his broom out to the pitch. That's entirely reasonable to assume.

It takes James a moment to spot Souji, and he thinks about ignoring him...but, he lacks the capacity to actually do so. Instead James flies down and stops short in front of him.]

What brings you out here? Come to see what a good Quidditch player looks like?

[James, being friendly and personable, takes a moment while everyone else is practicing to fly over and hover by Mikan's head so he can talk to her for a moment.]

Sorry to make you put off Hogsmeade to be here, Mikan. It's one thing to put my team through that, but you're stuck watching unless someone falls or gets bludgeoned.

Oh! N-n-no, it's fine! I'd much rather be here! It... it feels god to be needed. P-Please don't mind me!

[Souji doesn't even blink at James's approach.]

I was going to practice, but watching you blunder around, I can see there's no point. If your whole team flies like you, there's no contest when we play each other.

[James should probably be more bothered, especially since they're rivals, but the truth is that he loves the attention. Anyone else might be upset that the mic is being tested in the middle of their private practice session, but James revels in it, since he's the only thing for Mettaton to talk about.

He speeds over and flips himself upside-down, showing off just a little.]

I'll take that bet! 10 galleons says I don't fall at all!

[It's been a good practice, despite the timing of it, and James takes a break at the same time as Sirius, naturally. He's just as sweaty and just as hungry, but he plops down next to Sirius and grins.]

I don't think you've ever stopped that many of my plays before!

[He punctuates this compliment with a friendly arm shove, and then shoves almost all of a pumpkin pasty in his mouth.]
