Summary: Log for the BEST TEAM IN THE SCHOOL.
The Story:

A. PRACTICE (SUNDAY)

[There's at least one proper organized practice, on Sunday morning before anyone heads off to Hogsmeade. James takes his position as captain with a great amount of pride, and he's always trying to come up with new plays, new strategies, and new ways to make their team the absolute best it can be. There's almost always a lot of building up his teammates and talking down the other teams, especially Slytherin.

At the end of the day though, the other teams don't matter as long as they do their best - because according to James, Gryffindor's best could beat anyone, even professional teams. You also probably have to endure terrible metaphors about how they're a pride (like a pride of lions), but he's so enthusiastic about it that it's hard to really fault him for it.

This particular practice, James brought along a few dozen pumpkin pasties and juice as something of an apology for having practice during Hogsmeade weekend. There's a match coming up and they need all the practice they can squeeze in!]

B. PITCH (WHENEVER)

[Even when they don't have official practices, James tends to put in at least an hour of training in on his own, as long as no other teams have it. He tends to go in the morning before class, to wake himself up and tart his day.

Though...to be honest, he doesn't always practice daily, but lately he's felt the insatiable need to fly as much as he can. Eh. Maybe he's getting nostalgic in his last year.

Either way, he'll happily practice with anyone who turns up, in an even more informal practice setting.]

C. WHEREVER (WHENEVER)

[ As seeker, Henry takes his role very, very seriously. And not just because he wants to shake whatever reputation comes with having your mom and your aunt as a teacher at your school. He's on his broom, chasing a mock snitch that will wear itself out after five minutes if he doesn't catch it. He pours on the speed and as it turns out, he's actually pretty good at this. Once his hand closes around the snitch with a minute to spare, she lands and grins. But, that's nothing when there's no one competing with you. ]

Okay, who wants to go head to head?

[ He's kind of okay with missing Hogsmeade, truth be told. There will be another, but he can always get better. ]

[Don't give up on Hogsmeade just yet, Henry; there's plenty of hours in the day!]

I'll give it a shot.

[Jo grins broadly; she's no Seeker, but she believes that every member of the team is responsible for helping the others be their best, however they can.]

[ Henry grins when Jo volunteers. ]

Thanks! So, I'll let the snitch go, but if you see anything in my technique that I can work on, let me know. I really think we can win everything this year if I can get better than Frisk.

If you ask me, I think you're already better.

[Though she's hardly unbiased in that department; she's of the opinion that the Gryffindor team is far and away better than any team Slytherin has ever managed to cobble together-- not an uncommon sentiment among them, she's sure.]

But you got it. I'll keep an eye on you, see if there's anything you can tighten up.

[ Way to make Henry blush, Jo. He grins a little and definitely would not disagree that they're the best team at Hogwarts. Still, he takes off after letting the snitch go, doing his best to get in some moves he's learned after a lot of practice. He's pretty good, though he does tend to try and reach when he's not quite close enough, which slows him down a little. ]

[Jo takes off almost immediately afterwards, mounting her broom and pushing herself to keep up with his speed-- as far as size is concerned, he has the advantage, but she knows that won't hold true for long. He'll be taller than both her and Rose before the year is out, she's sure. She notices when he reaches just a little too soon, pulling her broom around to face him after passing mid-air.]

You're not close enough! That'll cost you seconds.

[henrydaniel]

[ In typical teenage boy fashion, he protests - at least a little. ]

If I reach it, though, then we win. Is it worth it to risk them getting it first?

[ Okay so not so much a protest as a mild push-back while seeking more wizened advice. ]

Sure, grabbing hold of the Snitch means you win-- but if you reach before you're close enough to grab it, that gives them time to pass you and win instead.

[It would all take place in a matter of seconds, but so many of the game's most crucial plays did. She continues hovering in front of and just above him, offering a smirk.]

'Course, it depends on who you're up against, too. Might be able to risk that with a slower Seeker, but whether or not it's worth it? That's hard to say.

Okay, you have a point.

[ He can at least agree with her on that and he appreciates it. He asked, after all. ]

If I'm up against a Slytherin, that probably, definitely wouldn't help.

[ He admits it as they hover and then manages to shrug a shoulder with a little smile. ]

Guess I need to beg my mom for the newest Nimbus model.

[Jo scowls at the very mention of their rival house.]

They all cheat, anyway. They'll take advantage of any weakness they think they can exploit without getting caught.

[Her expression shifts as she offers him a sympathetic smile.]

Thinking of asking for an early Christmas present?

Or birthday. Mine's soon, so I'll start dropping hints now, and hopefully between my aunt and my mom they'll realize that's what I want.

[ And if they don't, he'll double down for Christmas. ]

We're definitely not letting Slytherin win anything this season.

[ He can handle losing to the other houses. Just not them. ]

You could tack up photos of the latest model on the doors of their offices-- you know, just to give them a nudge.

[Subtlety is not Jo's strong suit, but she's never really needed it to be. Being direct has always served her far better.]

Just Slytherin? The other teams are good this year, but you know we can do better than that. Quidditch champions, right? We'll all carry the House Cup to the common room together.

Okay, not just Slytherin. We'll totally win it all. Which is why I have to keep practicing.

[ Though that's said with a grin; he loves it, and honestly he's not super competitive, plus he's a good sport, but he really loves winning and he loves the people on his team even more. He wants all of them as a team to win for Gryffindor. ]

That's more like it.

[Her grin hitches wider as she does a slow loop around him, appraising.]

Well, from where I'm sitting, you're well on your way to being in top shape. Maybe we should see if we can sneak in a few extra practices in the mornings the next couple of weeks.
