Who: Dipper Pines and YOU
Where: Anywhere Dipper shouldn't be. Also detention, where he definitely should be.
When: Throughout the event
Rating: PG-13 tops probably
Summary: Dipper is a smart kid, but he might have a few Authority Issues he needs to work out. Too bad he's stubborn as all hell.
The Story:
I. The Restricted Section
[Dipper loves to read. Not really unusual in Ravenclaws. And it's not like he's read every single book in the normal, non-restricted part of the library. But he's read enough that his attention has started wandering over to those more interesting books, the ones he's definitely not supposed to read without explicit permission from a teacher, and he's too young for most of them to be willing to give it to him. That doesn't stop him from ducking in there sometimes, looking around wordlessly, making a mental list of titles he wants to read as soon as he has a chance.
Or maybe he's decided to make that chance come to him now. He's clever. He's studied some magical theory. He can probably get around the whole screaming books thing. If he can be fast enough that no one stops him anyway.
Or maybe, after it failed, he's running out of the library as fast as he can, hoping he can get out of there before the librarians catch him and ban him again. He's got the book, though, stuffed into the inner pocket of his robe while the books in the restricted section scream out behind him.]
II. Around the Castle
[Honestly, Dipper can't understand why more people don't explore the castle constantly. It's the most amazing thing he's ever seen, and even as a third year, he never stops being wowed by it. So he explores. Sometimes during the day, when it's definitely allowed since technically none of these places are banned from students even if he'd be hard pressed to come with an excuse for why he's there if questioned. Sometimes at night, when it's definitely not allowed but so much more interesting. Obviously, the castle is haunted. The ghosts are all pretty cool (mostly, there's one major exception). It just feels so much more like a haunted castle at night, and Dipper's not so far from his muggle upbringing that he can't seriously appreciate that.]
III. The Forbidden Forest
[Dipper misses the days when the teachers hadn't realized how much he liked the Forbidden Forest and would send him in there for detention. It was great, he could explore and not even get in trouble for it because he was already in trouble! But they caught on eventually, now Dipper has to resort to sneaking if he wants to explore the forest.
He's careful. He's always careful. And he doesn't go in too deep, especially when he doesn't have backup. But he does go in. Wandering, exploring, taking notes. It's all far too fascinating for him to stay away in the nice, safe castle. Sure, he can read all about this stuff, but it's not the same thing as actually seeing it!]
IV. Detention
[For a really smart kid with really good grades, Dipper sure spends a lot of time in detention. Sometimes it's because he has a bad habit of talking back to teachers or correcting them when he sees they've done something wrong. Sometimes it's because he fought with another student, or got caught (again) in the restricted section. It's usually not because he got caught sneaking out at night. He gets caught sometimes, sure, but he's pretty good at planning and evading teachers. That's why Wendy and her friends let him come along on their expeditions.
Regardless of exactly the reason, he's here now. And he doesn't look happy about it, but he also doesn't look particularly repentant. This school has secrets, and he's not gonna find them by toeing the line.]
V. Wildcard!
[Go crazy man.]

iv because Why Not
She's got her feet kicked up, biting her nails absentmindedly.]
Man. This blows.

Yeah, it was way cooler when they let us go into the Forbidden Forest. Though also kinda funny, right? Like, hey, you did something you're not allowed to do, now we'll make you do more stuff you're not allowed to do as punishment? This place has such weird logic.
no subject
I know, right? I think it's because they think like, misbehaving kids are the kind who're all bark and no bite. Not like us. We wanna do stuff.
[She sits up, putting her hands down on the table.]
But now they're just like, oh, no, they're actually dangerous, just gotta put 'em in a room. It's so lame.
no subject
Well, it'll take more than sticking us in a room to stop us. Right?

[Or it was until the books started screaming at the top of their non-existant lungs.]
[Startled, he dropped what he was reading and nearly screamed himself. A minute or so later, he caught a glimpse of a certian nosy Ravenclaw rushing out of the library as fast as his legs can carry.]
Dear god, what has that boy done now?
[Dorian stands up, preparing to join the teachers in the chase. Should he catch Dipper, he is sure he could net some easy house points for Slytherin.]

The wall is entirely solid if Dorian goes up to examine it, but if he waits, a few minutes later Dipper reappears a few yards ahead on the other side of the hall, whistling casually, hands in his robe pockets.]
no subject
[You want to do this the hard way, hm? Dorian is capable of dirty tricks himself. He draws his wand, aims it at Dipper, and casts a charm that should buy him some time to catch up.]

He's trying to be sneaky, but he's too excited to be as careful as he ought to be. In trying to sketch the strange creature, he might let himself get a little too visible.

"You're being moved, not chopped up for firewood, so I'd really appreciate it if you'd stop that."
The plant is unlikely to listen. In fact, it seems certain that it has not, because it keeps on doing it.
Asgore rolls his neck to try and work out the kink that's forming in his shoulders, and as he does so, he notices a small wizardling, gloriously sketching, his quill moving rapidly, and a look of mingled rapture and intense concern plastered on his face.
It's one of the children from the school. "Dipper?" the goatman says. "Dipper Pines, is that you?"

so she clears her throat pointedly and if that doesn't make him come spill to her, she'll just weave her way in front of him. she might even drop a book in his way, if she has to. ]

....and maybe she can help him get a book. Older housemates are good like that.
He picks up the book she dropped, holding it up.]
...you dropped this?
[Pretty clearly intentionally, but still.]

so her best option is writing the titles down and hoping maybe her mom can send her copies for her own personal collection.
this brilliant scheme, however, is thwarted when she hears someone mumbling in the other corner and she peers around one of the shelves to see if she can get a good look at the other person.
...and immediately recognizes him as another Ravenclaw- one older than her, but definitely not one she can honestly buy has permission to be here.] Hnngh. Couldn't you have picked any other time to be here?

Sorry, I didn't plan my excursion to account for first years hiding in the corners. Are you lost? Cause the beginner section is that way.

II.
Sooner or later, though, gravity catches up to her in the form of a suddenly shifting suit of armor that sends her pinwheeling off just enough balance for a snack apple to fall out of her shallow dressing gown pocket and go bouncing down a flight of stairs. That'll certainly bruise, but Coraline's not worried about rescuing it... She's too busying tiptoeing at full tilt in the opposite direction, looking for the first set of heavy curtains to duck behind, or a little alcove to press herself into until she's sure the caretaker's not around to catch her in the act.
It's a long way back to Gryffindor tower, but the night's just gotten a little more risky-exciting, at least? ]
no subject
The sound of a suit of armor clanking, followed by the soft thump of an apple falling catches his attention. Not a teacher, probably. Teachers tend to be a little less subtle in their patrols. Some prefects are more careful, more interested in showing they deserve the badge they've been given, but teachers usually don't care much about trapping escaping students. The apple, though, and the fact that no one's going after it, makes him suspect another student, out without permission.
He picks up the apple and moves up the stairs cautiously. It could be a trap, but... he doubts it. Especially since, when he gets to the top of the stairs, no one's in sight.
He looks around. He can't see anyone, but... that doesn't mean anything, necessarily. He whispers into the darkness.]
Hey. You can come out, I'm not a teacher.
no subject
A small girl peeks out from behind some heavy draping, a little timid to reveal herself fully. This isn't a boy from her house, after all, she can tell that right away- she recognizes him sort of vaguely, from the Ravenclaw's table in the Great Hall.
Coraline inches into view, glancing this way and that just to be absolutely sure that other than Dipper, the coast is entirely clear. ]
Sorry! [ She peeps in a similar whisper, looking painfully apologetic for the disturbance. ] The armor spooked me.

iv because obviously.
He glances over at Dipper.
"What are you in for?"
it's perfect
"Knowing more than the teacher."
He was right. It's not his fault the teacher couldn't handle it. Also not his fault his teacher couldn't admit it and chose to put Dipper in detention. Sure, Dipper probably could have been more polite in pointing out the error, but it didn't change the fact that he was right and the teacher was wrong. He looks over at the other boy and raises an eyebrow. "You?"
one does what one can
"As for me? Unauthorized entry to the Forbidden Forest, which I don't think is technically my fault, because I learned from an impressionable young age that going to the Forbidden Forest is punishment for wrongdoers. I'm positive that I've either done something wrong, or am going to do something wrong in the near future, so I was just saving the professors the trouble."
