Summary: Mettaton treats Wonderland to his second performance on All Hallow’s Eve!
The Story:

As Mettaton advertised a couple of days ago, on the day of Halloween, Wonderland is covered in black and orange posters. They are decorated with appropriately spooky pictures, though all of them promote the MTT brand in some way. The information found on them is as follows:

IT’S HALLOWEEN MY DEAR WONDERLANDIANS, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS! IT’S TIME FOR ALL SPOOKY CREATURES AND MONSTERS TO BE OUT ON THE PROWL! AS YOUR RESIDENT ROBOTIC HEARTTHROB, I HAVE BROUGHT YOU THE BLESSING OF MY SECOND WONDERLAND PERFORMANCE!

FROM 8PM TO MIDNIGHT, WITH A BRIEF INTERMISSION IN BETWEEN, THE PERFORMING ARTS THEATER WILL BE DECKED OUT IN HAUNTING ATTIRE FITTING THE OCCASION! COME CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN IN A TRULY “MONSTOROUS” WAY!
THE PERFORMANCE WILL BE THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT, RINGING IN THE WITCHING HOUR WITH DANCE AND SONG! COSTUMES ENCOURAGED, THOUGH BE CAREFUL DEARS; IT SEEMS WONDERLAND IS UP TO ITS USUAL TRICKS!

FOOD AND DRINK WILL BE PROVIDED, THOUGH I CAN’T PROMISE IT IS ANY SAFER THAN WHAT YOU CAN GET RIGHT NOW!

When 8pm rolls around, anyone who is here will see black and orange garlands decorating the walls, bats hanging from the ceiling, and jack-o-lanterns lining the walls that are carved with the letters MTT and other stylized symbols representing Mettaton.

There are no chairs this time around, except for a few lines of them farther away from the stage, leaving ample room for anyone who wishes to dance to the music. Off to the side of the dance floor are tables filled with various snacks, drinks, and candy for anyone to partake. Once again there is an entire section of the table labeled “Ghost Food” with the incorporeal food laid out artfully on plates.

The night promises to be good to all who wish to attend!

[Sans is here with his army of tiny, well-dressed skeletons, all of which are still rattling in excitement from the performance. Sans himself is grinning probably as wide as Mettaton has ever seen him.]

okay but you need to send me an mp3 of that skeleton song. i need it as my ringtone. i didn't even know a song like that existed.

[He had seen this tiny army of well-dressed skeletons from the stage and he has to admit, it added a certain thrill to playing to the crowd. He's also not surprised to see Sans leading them. This seems like the sort of shenanigans he'd get himself into.]

Oh I will! Though the version I played was a remix. Would you like the original as well? And you'll have to thank humanity for that one! They certainly love their spooky skeletons!

[He gives Sans a broad grin.]

I'm glad to see you've been enjoying the concert so far!

i'm gonna be honest with you here, mettaton. i'm gonna need every version of that song available. every version. i don't care if one's just a terrible midi ripped from an mp3 and back. i need it. for personal reasons.

[Personal reasons meaning, achieve his dream of becoming a walking shitpost.]

it's been great. think the little dudes are enjoying it too.

[Considering they're now congregating around Mettaton and offering tiny pieces of paper or articles of clothing for him to sign, or just generally jumping up and down and rattling, they probably, yanno, thought it was okay.]

[Mettaton is a bit surprised at Sans's... enthusiasm, but he rolls with it all the same.]

There are quite a few versions, so I will be sure to send them your way. It's the least I can do after your wonderful gift to me.

[He's already smiling at the tiny skeletons, pulling out a pen from a secret side compartment on his body and giving his flowing script of an autograph to all who "ask". It's an amazing feat to see him go from smiling and patting a few of them on the head to giving Sans his attention and back again. He's clearly very practiced in holding conversations while simultaneously making fans feel noticed.]

It seems like it! I'm assuming all of the rattling is a good thing?

[It's probably the most enthusiastic about anything he's ever been in Wonderland. At least not counting the whole Hogwarts thing.]

my...? oh. oh, right. heh, well uh, i'm glad you've been making good use of it.

[Seriously, though. It had felt like such a cheap, cop-out gift at the time, so it's...nice that Mettaton is enjoying it.]

[Meanwhile tiny skeletons are silently cheering and rattling as they wave their Mettaton autographs at each other. Sans chuckles.]

pfft, yeah, these are good rattles.

Oh yes! It's helped me out here for the concert and it helped me jump out a window and do a perfect split onto the Mansion lawn.

[He's quite proud of that, all things considered.

Now that he knows that the rattling is a good thing, Mettaton looks at the other skeletons fondly.]

What an interesting way to express enjoyment. Do skeletons only rattle when they're happy?

[He is genuinely curious. With Sans and Papyrus being the only two skeletons in the Underground, there isn't much cultural knowledge of their doings.]

[That's legitimately impressive.]

oh, no. babybones rattle for all kinds of reasons. you kind of grow out of it, though. there's happy rattling, scared rattling, angry rattling...they all kind of sound different, too.

[It was certainly an act to be applauded, even if it was kind of wasted on Cloud.

Mettaton almost makes a comment about ghosts, how their tears and how they hit also change depending on the emotions felt, but he stops himself just in time. He's getting too comfortable with Sans, too inquisitive. He can't keep doing this when the storm upon the horizon will inevitably push their friendship apart again. When inevitably he replaces Mettaton as Alphys's best friend.

All of this flashes through Mettaton's head as quickly as he flashes Sans a new smile.]

Well, I suppose I'll have to do a concert so big, so bold, so good that I'll get to hear you rattle in happiness in spite of yourself! Consider it a new goal of mine.

[He actually laughs a bit at that. Okay, sure, getting him to smile or laugh is one thing, but let's not get carried away here.]

pfft, good luck with that. haven't done that since i was a kid.

[It's a kid thing. You stop doing it over time, and Sans stopped sooner than most.]

[Is that a challenge? It certainly sounds like it.]

Well, perhaps one day it will happen again! You never know.

[Oh yes, he's gonna make this happen now. Even if he ends up involving half of Wonderland, he's gonna make those bones of his rattle with joy.

He looks to the skeletons still milling around them.]

So what are you going to do with your new big, happy family?

[He surveys his army.]

i dunno. maybe we'll conquer the kitchen and claim all the condiments for sans and the mini-sans collective.

[He laughs a bit at that, imagining how the other residents might feel to walk into the kitchen late at night and see dozens of skeletons silently guarding a multitude of condiments.]

Will you not share them with the rest of Wonderland?

only if the proper treaties are drafted. perhaps we could reach a trade agreement.

[A trade agreement, huh? He kind of hopes Sans actually does this. He would love to see the fallout from this sort of deal.]

I look forward to hearing about the complexities of Skeleton Trade with the rest of Wonderland in the future.

[Just then the lights flicker, and he fixes on a huge grin.]

That's my cue to return to the stage! Time sure flies when you talk to friends and fans!

it's all very complex. i'd probably need to do a whole lecture on it. except not, cause that's way too much effort. you'll just have to navigate a difficult and dangerous political landscape blind.

[He grins and winks.]

well, better not keep us waiting. break a leg.

[Mettaton gives off an airy laugh as he turns to walk away.]

I'll break every leg in the room with how good my performance is going to be~!

[He gives one final jaunty wave and makes his way to the stage.]
