Oh. [Clementine thinks back to what that world is like, how the people in it act when they don't fall in line. She'd like to say she wouldn't just fall in line with the rest, but she's built so much for survival and survival means falling in line sometimes. Her hand remains on his arm even as she shakes her head a bit and then smiles at him a little.] Because you're one of the ones still questioning, trying to figure it all out instead of being satisfied with the way it appears when it doesn't make sense. I like that about you.

[krmvgivv]

[That gets him to smile a little too. It's true. It's always been true, even back before Gravity Falls when there was no one who believed him.]

...thanks. I just... can't help it, you know? I notice this stuff.

[A little bit because he's paranoid and smart and the combination sometimes serves him well and sometimes really screws him over and sometimes somehow does both at the same time.]

[shorthair]

I know.

[She has noticed that about him. Clementine notices people because she's learned it's important for survival. She notices the environment in the very same way. She doesn't notice stuff like Dipper does. He sees it all, all the time, searches for answers. What does it say about the rest of them who don't notice? What does it say about her that she only notices what she's learned to to survive? The version of her in that other world's as content as the rest with something that's not true.]

Must get exhausting sometimes especially when you're fighting against people who refuse to believe you or who refuse to see too.

[krmvgivv]

[Dipper huffs out a noise that's almost a laugh and nods, shoving his fingers into his hair under his hat.]

Yeah. That was, like, my entire life before I got to Gravity Falls. Even while I was there. No one ever wants to believe in ghosts and stuff. Except me.

[shorthair]

Because they're scared of what they don't understand. Because some people try to close their eyes and thinks that protects them but it doesn't. [She saw it with Sarah. Clementine will try to keep her alive, but- In her world, there was no option really but to acknowledge it. Walkers were everywhere, killing everyone. People were dying, coming back that way.

No matter how they died. Maybe if someone could figure out how it all started they'd find a cure. They'd find a way to contain it all, and there could be hope of an after like in Georgia's world.] But the world still needs people like you even when it's hard.

[krmvgivv]

...thanks, Clem. [He gives her a tired smile.] People don't… usually stay stuff like that to me. Even the people who believe me.

[Even Mabel makes fun of him more often than not and he doesn't really mind except when he sort of really does.]

[shorthair]

[Clementine smiles back at him. It's tired too but genuine.] It's how I feel. [It hardly seems like anything to be thanked for when it comes from a very honest place. She lifts up the glass and takes a sip, wrinkles her nose, and adds more of all the milk, sugar, and chocolate syrup Dipper laid out.] So are you trying to stay awake or dive back in?

[To try to figure it out even though he doesn't like the world any more than she does.]

[krmvgivv]

Both. [Dipper stifles a yawn.] But if I don't have coffee I just end up falling asleep in either and kind of drift back and forth. It sucks. So right now I'm staying awake, but I'll dive back in soon.

[He still keeps feeling like giving in and falling asleep will help. It doesn't. It just makes him more tired.]

[shorthair]

I'll help keep you awake until you're ready to dive back in again. [Clementine takes another drink of her coffee. She's starting to get used to the flavor of the coffee or maybe she just finally added enough that it tastes okay.

It's important to figure stuff out, she's starting to learn, even when it's hard, even when it's dangerous.]

[krmvgivv]

[He grins at her, and raises his cup in salute.] We can keep each other awake. [His expression falls a little.] Too bad we can't go in together. It'd be nice to have back-up that isn't brainwashed.

[shorthair]

Yeah, it would. I wouldn't hate going in so much if we could go in together. [But they don't really get a choice when it comes to that so she just toasts her cup to his own and then takes a drink from the mug slowly.] This can't last forever, and if you want to talk to someone after what happens in there, just find me. Sometimes that helps.

[krmvgivv]

I will. And you too. [He drinks too, then puts his cup down on the table with a tired sigh.] I also hate that with the weird sleeping thing it's so hard to tell how long it's been. It feels like it's been weeks. Which makes it way harder to tell how much longer we have.
