[The morning of December 31st, all residents will receive a handwritten invitation slipped under their door.]

[Punctuality in planning is important: the ballroom itself will only be ready for guests at exactly 8 o'clock, bedecked in glittering golds and the red-green of Christmas' vestiges, still clinging to the old year. Dining tables surround a central dance floor, bars and buffets dot the edges of the room and both holly and mistletoe are expressed liberally through the interior.

Mingle, dance, eat and be merry! The New Year will come in at midnight - the band will play and the drinks will flow for long after.]

[ feeling loved, for bonnie, takes small actions. she smiles her peter-smile up at him as he buttons her up, and nothing could make her feel warmer than his thought for her. she doesn't need the coat at all, but she hugs into it because it's his, and it represents exactly everything that scares her and makes her feel safe around him. ]

I'd like that a lot. I'm not cold at all.

[ at his waist, poking out from the coat, bonnie wraps her arms around his back and settles her head into his chest. if there's any reason to wear heels, it's nice to feel his collarbone against her cheek. ]

Did you have a good time tonight?

[peter has been making some updates on his web shooters including adding the ability to play whatever music he'd like from them. it's something he hopes he figures out how to do if he's ever thrown back to where he's from. it'd be nice to have music playing while he patrols across the city, high above the rest.

for now it's a nifty trick to music to their dance out on the beach among the sand. he winds his arms around her too, tugging her in tightly against his chest. he slips his fingertips up against her back, gripping hold of her by his jacket]

I had an amazing time tonight.

We all have had restful slept so we could actually enjoy the holiday without wanting to fall asleep standing up. [he smiles against the top of her head.] What about you?

[ when the music starts, bonnie blinks in surprise and it's a little embarrassing, the way she lets her eyes roam around their immediate vicinity. apparently, she's not the only one here capable of magic. she smiles and presses her head back against him, happy to accept this little spell she didn't cast. she sighs, happy and feeling safer than she ever does in wonderland. ]

It was good. I think I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, though.

[ her reply is less vibrant and exuberant than she wants, but-- well, she feels that impending sense of learned wariness when it comes to parties in wonderland, too. ]

[peter smiles at the way he's able to surprise her this time. she's always doing little magical things like that for everyone else, and he wanted to do a little something for her too. he winds his arms around her back, pulling her in tightly to him. his fingertips brush across her back.]

Makes sense. This- this place has a habit of the other shoe dropping especially when you least expect it.

[after all, the last fancy party they enjoyed together-- well, the night is not too far from his mind in terms of how it all ended, but there seems to be no violence, no- no death, no ending.]

Maybe we can really have this one though. This one night.

I think we can choose to keep this moment good, no matter what.

[ since the last time could've been better if bonnie had just chosen better choices. she shivers at the touch of peter's fingertips and hum happily, cuddling more into him. ]

I mean, it helps that people threw this one. It feels less like we're tempting fate.

Then it's good, Bonnie Bennett. We're choosing it. It's so. Screw anybody that tries to say otherwise.

[so it's theirs, and no one can take it from them. he smiles when she cuddles more into him. his arms wind around the low of her waist.]

Tempting fate. [his expression grows quiet, fond, concerned too helplessly so.] Like fate's set out to be something bad?

It feels rebellious to be happy when Wonderland's turned on its head.

[ she pulls back just enough to peek up at him with a grin. ]

Like a screw you we'll make the best of it? This is different. We're supposed to be slow dancing and having a good time.

So you're only dancing with me because we're supposed to be dancing right now? I feel like I should be offended.

[peter teases as he spins her and then pulls her in against his chest again. the smirk on his face tugs into an amused, fond smile because of that beautiful grin on her face.]

Oh, please--!

[ she gets the words out in a woosh as they spin, and it turns into laughter when he pulls her back in. ]

When do we ever do something because we're supposed to?
