Two too strong; with horror Cami recognizes both the attacker and the attacked, catching sight of both Klaus and Lucifer before speed blurs their movements, then blood.
For far too many passing moments she watches in transfixed horror, far too weak to join the fight, to somehow sway either side to stopping. But her humanity doesnβt leave her powerless; she can still act, to follow those who have chosen to flee this room, albeit for a different purpose. She runs on delicate heels, the airy fabric of her dress dancing out behind her as she races through halls and up stairs.
Pockets, she thinks in the same way she would curse. Next time a dress with pockets to hold her phone.]
FREYA! REBEKAH! [Cami shouts out their names even before sheβs gotten the door to their floor open. Thankfully none of their rooms are far in, and Cami can only hope the pair have both retired to their own beds tonight. She gasps for air between nearly every word, but still cries out all the same. Few things within any world have the power to end Klaus Mikaelson; Cami somehow suspects Lucifer might manage it.]
Lucifer is trying to kill Klaus!
no subject
Her brother may be the Original unkillable hybrid, but Lucifer is the Devil.]
Where?
a million years late with starbucks
But Freya has asked the important question so for now, she'll stay quiet.]
Re: a million years late with starbucks
He just threw Klaus across the room like he was nothing. We have to get back there, now.
[WeβThey. They do, because Cami has done all she can do as a human.]

Once that spell is complete, she changes focus, raising her hands and using a barrier spell to force Lucifer off her brother as quickly as possible, throwing him with as much force as she can manage.]
Enough.
no subject
still he will fight with will and brutality, but the heart of it is gone past that moment: he absorbs any shots as much as deigns to return them.
until his sister saves the day. he feels the brunt of the spell, the release of his opponent's grip, and falls to the ground. klaus' eyes are wide as he breathes in, deep and sudden; despite how his bluster might fool others, there was true doubt in him to how this would end. there is relief, bottoming out his gut. there is worry, his gaze seeking freya. ]
no subject
she stops when she gets to the ballroom and ignores every one else before she gets to klaus' side. she wraps her arms around him to hoist him out of there before lucifer can have the chance to recover.
(this is not the first time she has helped klaus when he was beaten, though it's been many centuries since then)
it is not until they are to the safety of their common room that she stops, setting her brother down in one of the chairs long enough to bite into her own wrist, offering it to him to help him recover. at least in this way she is not powerless.
this time she can help him.]

[klaus' annoyance in turn annoys her slightly but it doesn't matter. he's safe. their sister is safe. their family is safe, however limited that safety might actually be here.
it isn't much
but it's enough.]
no subject
the panic.
he holds that stare, his lashes fluttering, his grip on her arm turning from urgency to clinging firmness. (they are afraid, but they are safe. they are here, and that is more and less and the same as what they had the moment before they arrived.)
with a sighed exhale, klaus wordlessly leans forward to open his lips over rebekah's offered wrist. he drinks and cradles that drink to his mouth. ]
no subject
Or so it seems to be; Freya still stands in the hall, Cami reluctant to leave her. Yet she stands firm, steady, and Klaus had decidedly not been when Cami tore her eyes away to run from the ballroom.
Hoping nothing would disturb her friend outside, Cami turns towards the door now standing open. She walks inside, just in time to see Klaus drinking from Rebekah's wrist. She reminds herself of the healing power of that blood, and that Klaus has resilience far beyond what should be possible.
She has to; Cami doesn't think she's ever seen Klaus this beaten, even when he had white oak protruding from his chest.]
Klaus-- [Is he okay? Is Rebekah's blood enough? She looks between the two siblings, willing to offer her own if it turns out to be necessary. At present, however, she forces herself to wait until he can answer the countless questions that are sure to come.]
no subject
That itch still gets under her skin now .But what can she do against the Devil himself?
She is so caught up in her thoughts she doesn't noticed the sound of Cami entering the room, but soon enough she speaks and Rebekah lifts her head to reply.]
He will be okay.
[who she means to comfort with these words, herself or Cami or even Klaus himself -- it's up to debate.]
no subject
he must know this, to go on.
to weather the consequencesβ)
he only requires a few mouthfuls of rebekah's blood. he knows, pale but steady, that he wants more but he does not need it. there is no time for it, surrounded by those he loves in front of an open door with one who would do himβand now, themβharm.
he cannot, does not, look either rebekah or cami in the eye as he ceases drinking, nor as he stands with agile abruptness. ] I'll be fine. [ klaus only walks out the door to face freya, to pick her up, an arm around her shoulders and one under her knees. he carries her inside and shuts the door; moves to lay her carefully and gently onto the couch.
his fingers reach to brush the hair away at her temple.
all he wants is for her eyes to open; that itch plagues him as it plagues his sister. he wants to act.
(this is his fault.) ]
no subject
It's not as sharp as returning to life, but almost like the kind of sigh that comes with a deep sleep, and not long after that, her eyes open to light on Klaus, sitting up with ease.]
Lucifer is talked down for the moment, but I don't know how long it will last. I think it's best for the time being that we avoid Lux.
[Which is probably more for her than it is for them. And makes her sadder than she'd care to admit. But once that's said, she turns her question to Klaus directly.]
Are you alright?
no subject
(he is all right. however distressing his bodily debility is, it will pass. his true distress lies in the future. it exists for his sister, and them all: he could ask the same of her.
and not only because lucifer is formidable, but because he isβwasβa friend.)
klaus' jaw sets. he takes freya's hand with reassuring strength and stands despite the unsettling wooziness that he knows will pass, and faces them all. ] We'll be all right. Lucifer isn't unreasonable. I can talk to him. [ he can find a way, even if not through his own words. ]

He shouts something unintelligible as he shoves himself back on his feet, his eyes not immediately finding the source of the attack on his person, instead shouting into the air in an attempt to get them to come forward.]
Do not interfere!
no subject
I will interfere where I see fit when it is my family at stake.
no subject
The hits won't stop coming tonight, will they?]
You would protect him? A murderer of innocents?
[He tilts his head at her, eyes flaring at their second person of the day, his visage shifting and changing before her eyes, a mix between the Devil and the Lucifer she's come to know.]
I have to wonder what that makes you...
no subject
After all, some things must die, in order for others to survive.
Still, Lucifer's flickering visage draws to mind the face of Davina pleading with her, begging her to save her instead of condemning her. It's the freshest of Freya's crimes, the most recent, at least, but it doesn't stop her thoughts from drawing deeper, to the slick burn of poison, the gasps of her own last breath, and then a yielding darkness, the kind that she breaks through to find that she has survived, but where there was once life, once movement and love, now was emptiness and shame.
Freya's greatest flaw has always been her impatience, her impulse, and it has always cost her the things she loves most dearly. But after everything her actions have put Klaus through, she will not allow him to bear a second punishment when leaving Wonderland means that he will go back to endure one far worse. A tear slips down her cheek as a person who was once her friend forces her to relive one of the worst moments of her life, the moment when she went from vindicated captive to monster in her own right.]
He is my family. How can I judge him when I have my own sins to bear?
no subject
[He's been found guilty as charged, and Lucifer needs no courtroom or jury to administer his justice.]
I'm afraid I know all too well that family does not mean much when it comes to judgments. [His Dad taught him that one, both judgment and punishment, and his siblings easily fell in line.] Perhaps when I'm finished with him, I can judge your sins as well, find out all of your family's dirty little secrets.
no subject
Then judge me. Weigh my crimes and find me wanting. But Klaus is already bearing the weight of his sins in our world, condemned to endless torture at the hands of our judge and jury. Just because he is guilty does not mean he isn't already paying for his crimes - there is no need for you to punish him again.
[If Klaus is willing to sacrifice for them at home, the least she can do is sacrifice for him here.]
Once should be enough.
no subject
'Once should be enough.'
It's not an untrue statement. How long had he been punished for his crime, the one his Father cast him into Hell for? He'd been punished long enough too, had he not?
The terrifying visage that flickers over his features falls away suddenly, leaving behind the face of a man who may be one of the most tired creatures in existence.]
Is it? [His voice is scratchy as he asks the question.] And who gets to decide that?
no subject
Punishing the guilty makes sense - after all, there was no question that Heaven was not meant for a family for the Mikaelsons.]
You are the one exacting the punishment.
[Even though she knows that it's possible they've ceased to talk about Klaus at all.]
I would say that the choice is in your hands.
no subject
[This evening has given him plenty of things to think about, much of which he doesn't understand. There have been plenty of times he's gotten angry about the sins of others, of the destruction they cause because of petty whims and selfish desires.
But this wasn't just anger, though he's not sure he knows exactly what else he's feeling.
Even if he felt like tearing Klaus limb from limb in this moment, there's no way he would be able to get to him between Freya and the others protecting him.]
I've had enough for one night. [He takes a glance around at the party that he has...thoroughly decimated.] It appears everyone else has as well. I imagine that's probably also my fault.
no subject
Well. What's a party without a little property damage.
[Her tone is dry and could almost be a joke, but this isn't a joking moment. Instead, it's simply something to diffuse the tension, and take the edge off the anger that had been permeating the room earlier. She swallows, then takes a step back and drops the barrier just as suddenly as it had appeared.]
Please think about it.
[And don't just say that to placate her. But with that, she'll disappear from the room as suddenly as she appeared, retreating back to her own body and the safety of family for now.]
