[Punctuality in planning is important: the ballroom itself will only be ready for guests at exactly 8 o'clock, bedecked in glittering golds and the red-green of Christmas' vestiges, still clinging to the old year. Dining tables surround a central dance floor, bars and buffets dot the edges of the room and both holly and mistletoe are expressed liberally through the interior.

Mingle, dance, eat and be merry! The New Year will come in at midnight - the band will play and the drinks will flow for long after.]

She supposes there's nothing wrong with hoping for a quieter year ahead, but Andrea thinks that's probably unlikely in a place like this.

"It seems like we've earned it, too," she smiles, but then shrugs. "It's been a long time since I dressed up, it almost doesn't feel normal. But thanks. You look good, too." She's noticed the gentleman hanging around her, so, "Are you here with anyone?"

[blackbirdsing]

"I am, my boyfriend," she says as she points him out, smiling softly before turning back to Andrea. "You're here with Michonne, right? She introduced herself to me. She's friends with my brother, or at least they've talked a few times, I think she gave him some advice about a situation not long after he got here."

She's not surprised that Michonne would give good advice, but she is surprised - pleasantly so - to know that Michonne offered advice. It's just another sign that she's changed here, she's let herself open up to people more. The changes have been palpable and amazing to witness.

"I'm with her," Andrea nods with a smile. "She has a good perspective on a lot of things."

Sarah's always glad to hear when people manage to be good influences on others around them, and if Michonne and Kurt have been that for each other, she feels like it's a sign that there's no way this place could be all bad.

"How long have you been in Wonderland? It just seems like Michonne's one of the seasoned vets and I don't think you were here when I showed up a few months back."

"She's been here a long time," Andrea nods a little. "It's only been a few months for me, and I...went home for a little while and came back. Has that ever happened to you?"

[blackbirdsing]

"Not to me. But my boyfriend left for a week. I mean, before he was my boyfriend. it was what made us realize we were...well. That we were supposed to be together," Sarah admits. "I know that sounds a hell of a lot like a greeting card."

She can't help smirking a little, though it's a fond sort of look because she gets it on some level.

"Your boyfriend - did you know him back home, or is he someone you only met here?"

"I met him here. I don't even think we're from the same version of the world if I'm being honest. His has super heroes and villains. New York definitely doesn't," Sarah says with a smile. She knows some people don't get it, why they'd do this if they will, inevitably, lose each other to different universes, but she's never let that be her main thought. She could be here for ten years for all she knows.

Andrea isn't one of those people, she has no place to judge. Maybe it's selfish on her part not to have warned Michonne away to begin with, knowing the fate that awaits them, but they deserve this. As long as they can have it.

"Our world doesn't have that, either. That'd be nice, though," she smiles faintly.

[blackbirdsing]

"I know a little about your world," Sarah says as she reaches out to gently squeeze Andrea's arm for a second. "I'm glad you're here. Even if we never know what the hell it's gonna be when we wake up in the mornings."

It's a kind gesture, just to make that connection for a moment and pass along such a sincere sentiment.

"I'm glad I'm here, too. And you," Andrea smiles.

"Well, as long as we're here, and we're at this party, we might as well not let all the free food and drink go to waste. Or our dates for that matter," Sarah says with a little wink.
