[Punctuality in planning is important: the ballroom itself will only be ready for guests at exactly 8 o'clock, bedecked in glittering golds and the red-green of Christmas' vestiges, still clinging to the old year. Dining tables surround a central dance floor, bars and buffets dot the edges of the room and both holly and mistletoe are expressed liberally through the interior.

Mingle, dance, eat and be merry! The New Year will come in at midnight - the band will play and the drinks will flow for long after.]

Pencil something in for next week, then,

[she informs him plainly, wrestling with his buttons. While Evelyn is not an exhibitionist there is a certain thrill in semi-public places, or wresting privacy from a lack thereof by the fistful.

And speaking of fists, hers are balled in the fabric of Dan's shirt when he so graciously gives her the opportunity to be both wasteful and impatient. She snaps the last couple of fasteners free, sending them skittering off somewhere across the floor. A smile caught somewhere between hesitant and mischievous emerges, although shame is the furthest from her mind.]

'll check my schedule. [He teases, sliding his hands up and down her thighs. It's a toss-up of whether or not she'll do it, and the jolt of what he can only describe as attraction when she sends the buttons scattering across the floor and acts so damn innocent about it has him jerking her down with a low growl and a hand around her shoulder.

He kisses her, and his fingers go into her hair, gripping gently at the roots.]

Makin' it real hard fer me t' behave myself.

[It isn't really a warning as much as an indication of her success. He's sure that's exactly what she's looking for.]

[The exceedingly smug grin on Evelyn's face should be evidence enough that she's pleased by Dan's reaction, thrilled with the prospect of a little manhandling just for the sake of it. A small sound of undeniable delight escapes her when he fists a handful of her hair, accompanied by a threat she wants realised.]

Good.

[She grits against his mouth, teeth tugging on his lip while her fingers trip over his scars.]
