+ Ahh~! Like a good old fashion nightmare! | [OPEN] +
Who: EVERYONE
Where: Your dreams!
When: Friday February 17th - Monday February 20th (The length of the event!)
Rating: PG-13, warn if higher!
Summary: A catch-all log for everyone's dreams in this event, and all of the subconscious shenanigans within them!
The Story:
Over the course of the event, characters will find themselves falling asleep at random moments of the day, spacing out only to find themselves in a dream moments later. Whenever this happens, characters will find themselves in visions or nightmares. The content is entirely up to you, but must be something that would have some significance to the character, whether literally or metaphorically. They will likely be about a character's true feelings about a matter, or their hidden fears.
Either way, these dreams are trying to tell you something - something that you've buried, willfully ignored, or flat out just haven't realized about yourself. Within their dreams, they will meet people (from Wonderland) who represent their subconscious. These people will have uncanny knowledge of the dreamer's most inner thoughts: fears, desires, guilt, regrets, even their private thoughts of what they imagine their future to be like - and they will absolutely want to shove it in the dreamer's face, as though these repressed thoughts and feelings are rising to the surface.
OOCly, people will be able to play either awake in Wonderland or as versions of their characters within someone else's dream, taunting them with their subconscious thoughts and feelings. They will mostly be themselves, aside from the knowledge of what's going on in the dreamer's head. It's possible the dreamer might not even realize it's a dream at first, but it's equally possible that a character within someone's dream can be twisted or altered in some way if it helps them better deliver their message. They can even do standard nightmare things, like completely breaking the laws of physics or appearing and disappearing as needed.
Characters will feel sufficiently rested from these dreams, even if they don't like the content - which is good, because caffeine and all other stimulants one would use to keep themselves awake will be rendered completely ineffective.
Feel free to make use of this post for dream shenanigans! All top-levels are assumed to be for the person dreaming and the replies will all be within their dream, threads with characters who represent their subconscious. Prose and [brackets] are both welcome and if you have any questions you can over to the plot post! ♥

Dorian Gray's dreams
OTA | The Trial
Dorian's crime? He was put on trial for something, but the judge and jury seem to be having trouble settling on what to try him for. Some want to try him for indecency, others want to try him for murder. Some of them just hate him for being an aristocrat. It wasn't as if Dorian could object to any of this, for he had been literally gagged with a cloth on the judge's orders.
He can only mumble in protest as the next witness is called to the stand...
The Trial
“LOOK, whatever it IS he OBVIOUSLY did it. JUST LOOK at the SUCKER! Can't we just-- NO? Oh fine.”
[Casually Bill waltzes up to the stand, giving an arrogant wave to the gagged victim.]
“HEYYY PICTURE-PERFECT~ QUITE the MESS you've gotten yourself into! LET's GO THROUGH how many things you're GUILTY of TODAY!“
no subject
[Dorian tries to object, but he can only make muffled cries. He still remembers the incident with the opiates. It was a warped dream he had no control over.]
[He's wondering if this mess might be something the triangle put together for a laugh.]
no subject
"AW come ON. How are we SUPPOSED to hear him VERBALLY TRIP over HIMSELF with that CLOTHE in the way?! I'm all for a GOOD GAG fellas, but this is a TRIAL here. WHERE'S THE PZAZZ?! HEY CHIEF, can't we allow a COUPLE WORDS in, EDGEWISE?"
[He's looking at you bailiff. Let your stupid prisoner speak before he gets bored to death.]
"THE HECK am I supposed to be WITNESSING anyway?"
no subject
[However, the gag is just cloth. Bill could easily rip it off of Dorian's face if he really wanted to.]
Closed to Grout
He could hear a man speaking to someone around the corner, though he wasn't quite sure who. It was curiosity and boredom that drew him in. He crept closer to the talking, wondering who exactly would be talking to themselves in a place like this?
Funny, though. The closer he got to eavesdropping, the more distinctly he could hear a second voice whisper back to the man in reply.
no subject
The whispering voice is too quiet to make out any words, but the other is easy to hear, dry and measured and deeply, deeply interested.
"You say she could only act because she had not yet discovered real life? Trying to force herself to believe in stage props again must have been -- maddening. I wish I could have spoken to her."
Neither speaker seems to have noticed Dorian moving closer.
no subject
No, this can't be right. As he crept closer to the voice he was overcome with a sense of dread. Just who is telling this man about poor Sybil?
no subject
The first one goes again. Depending on how close he is, Dorian might even get a glimpse of this first speaker around the corner: an older man with flyaway hair, and clothes that roughly match Dorian's own era. Whoever he's talking to must be blocked from view by his frame.
"And the behaviour of the painter fascinates me -- surely he should have realised, in those last astonishing moments, that he had to run or fight? That he was dealing with something which wouldn't respond favourably to begging?" A rustle, a whisper. "Oh. Well. It just goes to show that love and madness aren't so far apart as psychiatry would have us believe."
no subject
Basil, too? How did he... Who is this other person!? Why were they telling all his secrets to this bloke?
He was wanting to go in and ask, but the unease in his heart stopped him. He felt like the darkness within his chest was preparing to swallow him whole, robbing him of his voice and movement for the time being.
There was no easy way out, now. Dorian was unarmed, and there were no palette knives within reach. He is being forced to confront or flee.
no subject
In a dream, everything around you can shift in a second. It can shift and suddenly become something new, or something that always was. Strange threads of reality push each other out of the way in the sleeper's mind. In the way things were, Grout had his back to Dorian, apparently unaware of his presence. In the way they are now, a moment later, he's facing Dorian with an inquisitive gaze.
"You've led a life worthy of writing about, Mr Gray."
no subject
How does he respond to this? He can't admit everything he heard was true, but he can't outright lie now. There's been too much revealed.
May as well pretend he doesn't know what's been said. "Do I, now? What have you heard of me?"
He smiles, but he feels the nagging urge to run and hide like a petty coward.
no subject
Grout gives him a smile, the kind a crocodile might give if it was in on a really tasty joke.
"I've just been hearing all about your secret life as a -- what do they call it these days? -- a real ladykiller."
no subject
No, that's a terrible question. The normally unflappable Mr. Gray is at a loss for words.
"Really?" He manages to blurt out against his better judgement. "From whom?"
