Summary: Indiana Jones Movie Night
The Story:

The first thing people will notice when walking up to the theater, is the entrance that looks like it has been turned into a cave. Upon entering they will see that the theater has been transformed into something out of an archaeological dig. They will see the obvious screen on the back wall, but the seating is surrounded by scaffolding and wooden crates of various shapes and sizes. In front of the first row of seating is a fire pit made out of skulls. Don't worry though, its magic fire, it won't burn if touched and it won't set the whole theater ablaze.

If you stray over to the refreshments table, you won't be disappointed. Darcy and Billy have gone all out. Snake themed desserts are all the rage.

The movie starts late, giving people ample time to show up, grab food and find a seat. All four movies will be shown for whoever wants to sit through all of them or just watch their favorites.

Billy blinks himself awake when he feels someone settle down next to him. He wasn't reeeally sleeping, just resting his eyes. He smiles when he sees it's Elena and he shift over so their sides are pressed together. Billy would never pass up a movie cuddle.

He laughs softly. "I know. It always startled me when I watch this or Star Wars cuz he looks so young, and so hot. It's not fair really."

"Faces like that are never fair," Elena says with a small smirk.

She brings the quilt up to her chin, half-ducking into it. Random fact about Elena Gilbert no one really asked for: she tends to run cold easily. It's why Damon keeps socks for her on his bedside table, lest her icicle feet wake him up in the middle of the night.

"I was thinking about the last time you did this," she adds, her voice soft. "I can't believe that was a year ago."

"But at least we get to look at them." He points out eyes shifting back to the movie for a moment.

"I know. I didn't realize it had been that long. Usually I try to do something like this twice a year but, I guess time got away from me." Which is unsettling. Does that mean he's getting used to wonderland? Comfortable there? He rarely thinks about going home these days.

"Time has a way of doing that," Elena says in agreement.

They'd already been friends, but Bonnie's recent departure has only made them grow closer. She can tell the gears are turning in Billy's pretty head, and it's why Elena nudges his shoulder lightly with her own. "What is it?"

He doesn't answer right away; staring up at the movie for a few moments before shifting his gaze to Elena. "I'm comfortable here. I've gotten used to this place, and this life. I'm not missing home...I mean, I still miss it ,but it doesn't hit me like it used to. I can go days or weeks without thinking about it." It scares him. "It's starting to feel like that creepy white mansion where everyone just called his place home. Only I still have all my memories...or most of them at least." In three years who knew what Wonderland had taken from him.

Elena shifts until she's resting on her side, facing Billy a bit more.

The last movie is not as gripping as the previous three, so she doesn't feel too bad she isn't paying as much attention. "I've worried about that, too," Elena admits to him. It's not something she admits easily. "When I first got here, I promised myself I'd never get complacent. I'd never stop trying to find a way back home. But if I'd never been brought here, I wouldn't have met someone like you."

Billy only really likes the fourth movie for Shia LeBouf so really, he's not worried about missing anything. Talking to Elena always beats that. "I think everyone promises themselves that. And I'm sure some people stick to it....its just been three years. Three years with no breaks, at least some people go home and come back. I've just been here." He does smile at her words though.

"Thats the only good part about being here. Meeting people like you, and Bonnie, and Peter. That and magical closets."

Elena grows quiet at first.

Knowing that Billy's never gone home puts things into perspective. She's only been here half the amount of time, and she's been sent back. "I was telling Caroline about this," she says, voice softer somehow. "I don't think I'll ever stop looking for clues or answers, but I need more. We all do. And inviting the good into your life through a difficult circumstance is never wrong."

It's all they can do. Find the good and hold onto it. No matter how fleeting it may be.

After a pause, a smile begins to tug on her lips again. "The closets are kind of awesome."

He nods. Her words make sense, like they usually do. "I know, but it's good to hear that sometimes." He shifts over so he can lean against her, knocking their shoulders together. "Sometimes the guilt that I'm not doing more starts to seep it's way in." He should be fighting to get home, fighting to get back to Teddy...but what was the point? How many people had been trying to get home for longer than him and still couldn't figure it out? How many people smarter than he was had been searching with no results?

But those were deep those guys not really meant for movie night.

"What I would have given to have a magical closet growing up back home."

Elena smiles as their shoulders meet, inching closer to do the same. "Guilt is rarely rational," she tells him, and if it sounds like she speaks from experience, it's because she is. Wonderland is bigger than them, is the truth. They can try to rail against it as much as they want, they're still here. It's not a choice, but they can still make sure there is meaning in being here.

She sees an opportunity to lighten their conversation, though, and she takes it for Billy's sake.

"Oh, yeah? What kind of stuff would you have asked the closets for?"

Billy gives a soft laugh at her question. "Pre powers? Probably every comic ever written. Or Captain America. Though I don't know what I would have done with him at 15. Maybe a friend." Which wasn't lightening the conversation. "What would you have asked for?"

Her smile softens.

Not a light conversation, no. But it is an honest one. That feels more important to Elena, especially in regards to those she cares for more. She'd rather have his honesty every single time. She gives his hand a light squeeze. He doesn't have to elaborate. She understands. She wants him to know with that gesture alone he's been heard.

"... Probably a really fancy typewriter, for starters."
