( open ) when you're lost

Summary: After the event Helena's trying to make herself feel better with some good reading
The Story:

( She'd been an author. Even without her memories her love of literature her lasted, as it had when the Warehouse had taken her memories. It was one request that Helena would always make if she ever had to change.

Except her writing had been terrible. She'd had a... blog, which Helena hadn't heard of prior to that week, and the stories that she remembered putting on it...

How could it have been so different, her ability lost when it was still her? It was baffling, and very irritating.

It had lead Helena to the library, searching for books that she'd read a long time ago -- and her own. She brings them all to a table, a little pile of the H.G. Wells novels she knows, one she'd found that Charles must have done after her bronzing (she dreads to imagine it) and some Dickens and Wilde.

It's a task that she takes care with, searching through the stacks, perhaps pausing to leaf through one. Good memories are held with these books )

She's nice. Claire Fraser. Anyway, she isn't from that time. Something about accidental time travel? I didn't totally understand it. She went to nursing school and was a war nurse during World War Two. So she knows a little, but still nothing super modern.

[ Which is totally understandable, and Liv really wants to help her out. ]

It's starting to sound like there are more people familiar with time travel every day.

( helena isn't quite certain how to feel about that. hurrah for familiar conversations, and oops for everything else? )

Still, I suppose it's all a bit of a learning curve.

( she's definitely not had to start her own one of those-- )

At this point, I'm starting to roll with whatever backstories people tell me. Sure, someone could be lying but how will I ever know? It's more fun to imagine there really are people here who fight aliens and are related to Snow White.

( somehow she didn't bat at aliens... )

Yeah, this kid...apparently she's his grandma, and his mom is the Evil Queen and his step-dad is Captain Hook. He says I look exactly like Tinkerbell, so that's a thing.

[ She has no idea if she believes it, but...]

I ran into his mom a few weeks later during the zombie thing, and she called me Tinkerbell at first. So I guess the kid isn't lying, or he and as his mom are excellent pranksters.

It sounds a little bit like a wild tale.

( although helena knows a lot about wild tales so that doesn't say much )

Oh, it definitely is, but...we were also all magically transported to some place calling itself Wonderland after a kid's book, so...

Actually, that book was based on a real place. Alice Lidell is real, though she's not the girl that's here, and "Wonderland" is somewhere she went. It's just not the same as this one.

[ Liv's eyes narrow just a little, not in disbelief, but in slow realization. ]

That's exactly what the kid was talking about. The fairytales have wrong information, or super exaggerated info, or not all of it. But the places are real, the people are his family. If we're all going to believe Alice and Wonderland itself is real even if it's different than this place...I guess I'm going to believe the kid.

Perhaps that is true.

( and helena had seen enough strange things for it to at least be believable )

Though just because one is real doesn't mean that all are.

You should find him and talk to him. He has a book and everything. Henry is his name, I think. We didn't go through his entire family tree because I was kinda...not fully clothed?

Wonderland brought me here right when I was finishing up a shower.
