+ For Glory! For Death! +
Who: EVERYONE & Unwanted Guests
Where: The Grounds & The Palace
When: August 27th to 29th
Rating: PG-13 to R for fighting, violence, and death
Summary: Attackers from other realms threaten the Asgardian palace and your very lives! This is where you fight or flee, the place for all your combat mingle needs.
The Story:
+ Day 3 : Rock Trolls and Ogres +

Rock Trolls and Ogres are strong, tough and surprisingly fast, with great muscular bulk. Their sight is keen, and they hunger for human flesh. Fortunately they are lacking in tactical skill, and few to none will manage to break through Asgard's protective barrier to enter the palace. ( x ) ( x )
+ Day 4 : Frost Giants +

The Forst Giants will scare off yesterday's attackers almost entirely, bringing a greater threat to the palace. They are faster and stronger still, and skilled in cryokinesis. One touch by their hand might freeze a warrior whole, if they don't stop the spread of cold on time. Several of their numbers will manage to break through Asgard's protective barrier to enter the palace. ( x )
+ Day 5 : Dark Elves +

The Dark Elves are the last and greatest threat to Asgard. They rely on stealth and deadly energy weapons, their strength and craftiness yet unparalleled. They are weak to iron, and any warrior would be lucky to discover this weakness on time. They infiltrate the palace from the caves, and nearly all of their numbers will attack from the inside. ( x )

Onward! Hold fast, and we shall surely see victory this day!
[ and he barrels forward! the pings of energy weapons bouncing off of ray are music to his ears, especially in concert with the blast sarah is shooting from his back. but one blast of enemy fire flings past them, a near-miss that makes him stumble in fright.
had it been closer, it might have hit sarah. ]
Oh my gosh-- Are you OK back there? [ the shock startles his 'commitment' from his tongue momentarily, and ray steps to the side where there's a bit of cover, to check on sarah. ] Perhaps you should stay here, Lady Sarah. I can push ahead and clear the corridor for your safe passage...
no subject
No. No way. Last time you were just gonna clear a path you blew up, remember? So no. I'm fine, we're getting through this together.

[ but he's sticking with her, regardless. odd considering his new viking tendencies the last few days, the way he hesitates and actually considers inaction at all. ]
An honorable death is better than a cowardly life... [ but he doesn't really sound all that sure. in fact, he ducks into better cover with sarah, his feet taking him without him thinking of it. his voice trails off, and if anything it sounds like he might be trying to convince himself of this fact. ] A warrior battles. They do not run from a fight.

[ And then they'll just...you know. Die together or something. ]
Are we going back out, or staying right here? Up to you, Ray.
[ Her voice isn't as harsh as the dialogue suggests, she just can't go through watching him die again. Not for the third time when they only get five. ]

he leans back, blinking wildly and looking around them as if seeing their predicament for the first time.
but he isn't seeing this situation for the first time so much as seeing it through his own eyes. he frowns and reaches behind himself to rip the crimson cape from his shoulders. he tears at the band of leather he'd tied around his bicep, throwing them both to the ground as if they'd burned him. ]
No. No, we're staying here. [ he reaches forward to pull her into an awkward hug, needing some sort of physicality to ground himself after coming out of an a+ grade mind whammy. ] I'm staying with you.
no subject
I'm staying with you. She swallows heavily and reaches out to hold onto his arms which makes the hug even more awkward, but she needs it, too. The relief is more than palpable, it's pouring off of her, and she presses her face against his neck. ]
Thank you. Thank you, Ray. For choosing me.
[ Instead of diving head first into death. ]

[ it's awkward, and it feels like they should be having a smoother reunion. but instead they're left picking and moving and jostling around the exo-suit until ray rips off the helmet so that he can kiss sarah more fully.
despite the imperfectness of the moment, ray wouldn't change a thing. love would never be perfect-- but he'd chosen sarah. she chose him. they did it every night when they went to bed not knowing what the morning would bring, and again every morning in the quiet of held breath or the chaos of a mansion turned upside down. ]
I will always choose you. I'll choose us.
no subject
[ As soon as the helmet is off and he's kissing her, she's kissing him in return, over and over again. ]
You're all that's important to me.
[ Not his heroics, not that he has a suit. Just him. Just Ray. ]
no subject
[ he takes the moment to press his forehead to hers, and be grateful. and then he can't help himself from chuckling. ]
If I ever start talking like that again it's your job to incapacitate me. Any means necessary...
