+ For Glory! For Death! +
Who: EVERYONE & Unwanted Guests
Where: The Grounds & The Palace
When: August 27th to 29th
Rating: PG-13 to R for fighting, violence, and death
Summary: Attackers from other realms threaten the Asgardian palace and your very lives! This is where you fight or flee, the place for all your combat mingle needs.
The Story:
+ Day 3 : Rock Trolls and Ogres +

Rock Trolls and Ogres are strong, tough and surprisingly fast, with great muscular bulk. Their sight is keen, and they hunger for human flesh. Fortunately they are lacking in tactical skill, and few to none will manage to break through Asgard's protective barrier to enter the palace. ( x ) ( x )
+ Day 4 : Frost Giants +

The Forst Giants will scare off yesterday's attackers almost entirely, bringing a greater threat to the palace. They are faster and stronger still, and skilled in cryokinesis. One touch by their hand might freeze a warrior whole, if they don't stop the spread of cold on time. Several of their numbers will manage to break through Asgard's protective barrier to enter the palace. ( x )
+ Day 5 : Dark Elves +

The Dark Elves are the last and greatest threat to Asgard. They rely on stealth and deadly energy weapons, their strength and craftiness yet unparalleled. They are weak to iron, and any warrior would be lucky to discover this weakness on time. They infiltrate the palace from the caves, and nearly all of their numbers will attack from the inside. ( x )

The number of enemies able to cross the barrier is negligible. Unfortunately, invasion is not their primary concern. A number of fellow residents, despite lacking capability, have been compelled to engage these entities in combat. They seek to prevent them from coming to harm. Sometimes, this requires dispatching enemies, or distracting them with the combat drone.
More often, they simply seek to intercept them before they encounter dangerous situations.
Day 4:
Though they are initially pleasantly surprised by the departure of the previous days opponents, this is quickly destroyed by the arrival of the Frost Giants. Unlike the previous day, these opponents are not so easily defeated by the barrier, and thus Legion can be found using more combat oriented methods of preventing harm to their fellow mansion dwellers.
Day 5:
The Dark Elves have them hopelessly outclassed: their synthetic nature grants minimal advantage, opportunities for ranged combat are restricted, and their kinetic shields are inadequate defense against their advanced energy weapons. Still, they assist where they can.
no subject
The past few days have been very weird, and Papyrus still can't seem to wrap his head around the mansion changing! Still, given that this is his first event, that shouldn't come as a surprise. He notices the rock trolls and ogres the previous day, but he manages to steer away from the few that get in.
Not so on this fourth day. With more of these Frost Giants coming in to invade the mansion, Papyrus keeps his guard up. He's not wearing any Asgardian clothing, but he does get wrapped up in the whole 'protecting Asgard' thing anyway! Yeah, sure! Protect Asgard! Who is that anyway, another clone of Asgore?! This is like the third clone he's heard of, but okay!! Protect the clone!!!
One of the Frost Giants approaches the new king, and he assumes a battling position. Just...think of this as protecting your kingdom, he reasons to himself. A king must always protect his kingdom, and if his kingdom just so happens to be Wonderland or Asgard or whatever, then so be it. True to himself, however, his goal isn't to kill the giants - it's to knock them out or scare them away with some cool special attacks. Never kill them. Never ever.
Do you want to help him out with taking care of this Frost Giant/ convince him that this is a horrible idea??
Day 5:
Okay, even Papyrus knows that he's over his head with this one. These Dark Elves are fast, sneaky and hard to lose when being chased by one. Every king should know when to retreat, and this was one of those times. But would he be able to retreat back to his room on time?
He's currently being chased down by one persistent Dark Elf. He's using up as much magic as possible setting up different bone related obstacles and walls, but they only seem to slow the elf down by a bit. Help him out?
Day 5
"Watch yourself, friend!" he calls, as the only announcement that he's attempting to aid in the poor skeleton's retreat.
Dodging Papyrus' magical attacks with a deftness that only a demon like he could display, he cuts the enemy off with surprising speed, brandishing a rather nondescript blade. Where bones wouldn't succeed, perhaps a swift swing meant to deeply cut the elf's leg would cause it to slow more substantially.

[closed] Day 4 for Shepard
One barges around the corner, ice creeping along the floor with his every step. Cullen charges instantly. In the corner of his eyes he recognises the one for what he was: The first of a group of five. He'd better finish this fight fast. ]
no subject
A sniper shot whizzes past Cullen's shoulder and slams into one of the Frost Giant's arms, the incendiary nature of the round causing it to immediately burst into flames as she runs up behind, switching to her submachine quickly for close-range tactics. Doesn't hurt that it's the one with the most bullets left, either, even if their numbers are verging below a quarter capacity, and her rifle now down to it's final clip.]

peter parker/spider-man | ota
( peter was in the spider-man suit when darcy gave the warning over the network so he thankfully gets to stay in it. he doesn't trust the asgardian armor for a second, and he's seen people rush out into danger while wearing it as if they've abruptly become reckless. it means they don't have a choice in fighting, and peter is not about to let them go out there alone.
he swings in his suit to cover large distances at a time. he crawls on the ceiling or along the wall, rushing into the fight and throwing himself or his webbing at one of the violent creatures before they can kill or hurt someone with his trademark snark: )
Someone should really put you on time out and teach you manners. This is not how you be a good mansion-guest.
( peter's working with steve to stay coordinated, to make sure he's going where help's most needed, and he doesn't forget what he said. they need to work as a team against the likes of these armies especially on the last day- the dark elves. they're coordinated. they're powerful. there are so many of them.
he'll hop in immediately beside someone in the midst of a fight. )
breaks in between
( it's exhausting fighting so many creatures for three days in a row. even spider-man has to take some breaks. towards the end of the event, his suit is torn from shrapnel, from near misses. he's obviously bloody when he stumbles into safe spaces, using his webbing to make those spaces safer whenever he can. he checks in on the people he cares and worries about. and collapses in a corner briefly, poking at food, drinking water, pulling off his mask to be sweaty.
but he never stops for long.
if he stops, someone else could be hurt or in trouble or dying while he does. he can't stop even when it starts to feel like that zombie event all over again, even when the room spins, even when-- spider-man's more important. )
closed to mary jane.
it's somewhere in the middle of the final day. peter has been throwing himself as spider-man at creature after creature with little break in between. he's saved a lot of people, but he's also taken one helluva beating over and over again. and he's showing it. his super healing only really seems to kick into gear when he sleeps, and he hasn't given himself the chance to sleep yet (not sure if he even could). spider-man just saved someone from a blast, taking a lot of shrapnel in the process. it stuck in his chest and abdomen, and he hasn't had a chance to fix it yet.
he's knocked down most of the group of dark elves, using their own grenades against them, but he's bleeding. he's in pain. the world's spinning around him. his head pounds. he is nearly positive he's going to die, because this feels an awful lot like how-- like the last time he died.
peter shakes, bleeding on the floor, trying to push himself up on to his feet but he can't. there's one dark elf left, and peter's disarmed it but it's got him- he can't run, can't move as it descends upon him with a big rock in its hands. they don't do physical combat usually, but this is- this is more like a big villain squashing a bug. peter can't manage to push himself up on to his feet even though he's trying.
fuck. sorry- happening all over again, and no one even knows he died the last time. sorry- sorry- )
For being elves, you might... want to take some tips from the Lord of the Ring elves. They're way more attractive, good hair, good- ( he coughs out, which hurts his chest like hell, mask torn, as he tries to turn himself so he can get a better aim with his web shooter or something. ) 'm saying you're ugly.

action time!
His armor is his and its's his colors, but it isn't technically Robin's armor. It's the armor he'd purchased when everything was awesome and space that had somehow stayed with him after the event had ended. Mostly he's been sticking with Kon, because while he might be a little stubborn, he's not stupid, and it's always better to have a teammate in situations like these. Still, no plan is perfect, and they get separated.
Tim finds himself fighting next to a person in a red and blue... spider costume?
Like he has any room to judge.

Greg | OTA
Greg's never been a violent kid by any means. In fact, up until recently, he hadn't even really hit anything person-shaped! But now that he's seen the light that is the Glory of Asgard, he has been filled with more wrath for the potential invaders than should probably be able to fit into such a tiny container.
Still, it seems like he's remembering some of his parents' safety warnings. He doesn't want to be running around with sharp things, so he's got a only slightly sharp mace! For now, all he's doing is waving it around and knocking it against his own helmet in an attempt to scare the rock guys away, but if they get through that barrier, boy howdy!
Day 4
Wow!!! Frost trolls!!! Rude!!! We did not invite you in!!!
Several frost trolls receive righteous mace spankings before one finally stops long enough to even notice what's causing the minor nuisance around their calves. Greg bellows mightily, waving his mace around some more as the troll stares down at him in apparent disbelief.
"Go home! You're breaking so many rules you are lucky we aren't gonna put you in the dungeon!"
Or worse! Which Greg implies by shaking his mace harder. Unfortunately, the troll has decided that this is just insulting, and starts stalking towards Greg. And Greg isn't about to run away.
Day 5
Having (somehow) survived the frosties, Greg's super ready to fight off the elves. He's even got a shield this time! Which he definitely thought to get for himself! Yeah!
Of course, he's had a few Talks about not fighting anybody on his own, so although he is shouting and running around with the fierceness of all the other defenders of Asgard, he doesn't approach any of the elves on his own. Instead, he finds fights in progress and yells (just like his hero Thor):
"I SAID NO! GO AWAY!"
DAY 4
They had gotten separated at some point, and Wirt had admittedly gotten distracted, but as soon as Wirt spots something heading towards Greg he runs right over, cape billowing behind him. He has an actual sharp weapon too - an axe that Greg is too little to have.
"Greg, that thing is like, huge. Y-You can't just take on a Frost Giant all by yourself!"
He might be fighting for the glory of Asgard, but he's still a little kid! Ugh, Mom would be so mad at him if she saw Wirt letting Greg fight some monster alone instead of making sure he had a buddy and enough armor and a shield or something.

it turns out she was too late to help shaun, but she did her best to keep georgia protected for the rest of the event.
and on her way back, she falls through one of those anomalies and winds up in the middle of the battle ground when the frost giants make their way through. they're faster and stronger than she is by a lot, and she knows better than to try shooting one with a shotgun if only to avoid getting their attention. it also means she fails to gain anyone else's attention, and someone warrior-ing accidentally smacks her as they run past chasing down a frost giant.

day four, after the frost incident
Even though he's dropped everything to arrive as quickly as possible, the bulk of the excitement is already over. Klaus is stable, if a gut-churning shade of gray. And though Fitz agreed without question upon hearing that his friend was in danger, Fitz slows at this point. He hovers over Klaus, not sure how to position himself. Is it safe to move Klaus' head? Should he kneel beside him? Is there a certain angle that would produce optimal results?
I'm -- not sure if you're awake like this. But in the event you are... Hello. Heard you got into a bit of a scrap. I hope you don't mind me here, for this part.
[ He's not comfortable with the idea of slicing into his own wrist, he realizes as he rolls up his right sleeve. He'll tentatively press his arm against the pallor of Klaus' mouth. Does it work like this? Does he need to force it further? ]

Natasha Romanoff | OTA
Natasha Romanoff is many things. Superhuman isn't one of them, and considering that and the fact that she's been in this place maybe an hour or two, she probably ought to be sitting this one out. Find a place to lay low. Let the dust settle. Get her bearings once the fighting is over and she's had a little more time to pore over the network resources. That's what she'd tell anyone else to do if they were in the same situation.
Unfortunately, Natasha is also not always good at taking her own advice. Ever since a god opened a portal over New York City so aliens attacked the city on flying, armored monsters, she hasn't seen much point in sitting out just because things get a little weird.
A little.
Of course, that doesn't mean she's stupid. She doesn't go out and pick a fight with a giant. What she does is get close, stay close, stay out of sight while she looks for other people who shouldn't be here. When she finds them? That depends. If the giants haven't spotted them either, it's a matter of getting to them and getting them out before either of them gets made. On the other hand, if she finds someone engaged, then the priority is creating an exit strategy. A distraction. Cover fire.
Honestly, she's making this up as she goes.
no subject
The force makes him groan. When the giant swings again he acts fast: One step out of the way, the next to slam his shield into the giant's side. The creature stumbles, only not enough. Cullen bashes forward with his shield again- again. The giant slowly finds his footing. Cullen hopes that he can reach his sword, first.

Day 3 [closed to Ryuji]
All that said, it would be a stretch to say he's unhappy about the threat the frost giants pose. While he doesn't want anyone to get hurt, he'd kind of forgotten how much fun it is to use his powers without holding back. And he certainly doesn't have to hold back with these guys. They're stronger than he initially suspected, but when it comes to brute power, as long as they don't touch him, he's got the upper hand.
The real trick is luring them back out of the palace. He doesn't exactly want to risk anyone else getting hurt because he wasn't pulling his punches, literally or figuratively.
Luckily! Running around is another one of his many skills, and he puts it to good use getting one of these guys away from the palace so he can fight it in an open space. Judging that he's put enough distance between them and anyone else, he finally turns to face the thing to fight it.]
no subject
Ryuji had started to tune out of Steve and Darcy's network PSA the minute he'd heard the words "this is gonna be a lot of information" so he still has next to no idea what these guys are or what they want other than being bad news bears. Works well enough for him--he doesn't have to read their encyclopedia entry to send these things packing.
"Punch anything that punches you" is the philosophy Ryuji's chosen to live by in this fight, and it's how he ends up roaming the palace armed, and masked, and fully Phantom Thief'd in his Skull attire.]
H-hey!
[That's all he has time to get out as someone goes whizzing past with a frost giant thudding along behind like a dog bound and determined to catch that car bumper in its jaws.
Give chase? Definitely give chase.
In true Ryuji fashion, he's able to close the gap with speed on his side, and in even truer Ryuji fashion he's runs straight into the heart of danger.]

Day 3
He jumped down from a tree he'd been observing from onto the head of one of the ogres that'd been trying to charge the barrier. He used them as a spring to flip into the air, leaving behind some sticky paste on the ogre's head. When he landed he pressed a detonator on his belt.
The creature stopped its charge for Damian and let out a howl. The explosive left a smoldering hole in the side of the ogre's head, but it was still coming.]
Hn, more durable than you look.
[The teen mused as he threw a Batarang at it. The device faintly beeps for a moment before exploding, leaving a smoldering hole in the flesh. He did this a few more times, unknowing of the rock troll that easily spotted him.]
no subject
it could be worse, though. damian could not know if his existence, like kara doesn't. so he's got that going for him. it only makes sense that the first person he goes to should be damian then, right? and if there's stuff to fight, why not fight it to help take his mind off of his parents not being there?
or at least, that's the trail of thought jon has when he leaves his glasses and hat in his newly chosen room, takes off the over sized t-shirt he had been wearing which leaves him in just a pair of ripped jeans, the superman jacket he'd found, and sneakers.
he finds damian fast enough; listening for his voice and speeding his way through the asgadian structure really doesn't take that long, considering how much longer it would have taken for a normal human. and jon spots the rock troll just as easily as it had found damian. he runs as fast as he can towards it, comes to an extremely abrupt halt right next to it's legs, and grips onto a leg with both hands, picking it up and spinning around on his heels to gain some momentum for when he tosses it off into the distance. )

Tim Drake | Robin |OTA
Tim saw the network post about not tangling with the kinds of things that are coming at them. "Unless you're a meta, you should probably sit this one out." (Not the exact words, but that was the impression he took from them.) The problem is, he's very, very bad at listening to that kind of advice. He's been working with Batman for about three years now, and has had his own team of metas and non-metas for over a year. He doesn't "sit out" threats aimed in his direction, he faces them--ideally with backup, but not having it doesn't scare him.
Still, he's not a complete idiot. He's used to facing things like this with a team, and he and Kon are together more often than they're not. Tim trusts him to pull him out of the fire if things get too hot for them, just like he knows Kon trusts him to know if they need to fall back. Rock trolls, ice giants, dark elves... They're intimidating, sure, but not so much that the two of them aren't willing to face them, or help out people whose Asgardian armor has convinced them that they can, even if they probably... can't.
No plan is perfect, though, and occasionally they do get separated. When that happens, Tim is likely to continue what he's doing, while keeping an eye out to reconnect with his friend. He might be bad at listening to advice, but he does know that he's a squishy human out among considerably less squishy beings than him.
[OOC: Want a rescue? Want the chance to team up with the Junior World's Finest for some rock troll beat downs? Here's your chance! Want just Tim? Tim + Kon? Either way! Let us know!]
And then sometimes they get in over their heads. (Day 5, closed to Kon and Cissie)
They manage to make it to the third day of the attacks on the mansion, and it's a dark elf that finally knocks Tim out of the fight. He and Kon are fighting together, but they get flanked and Tim doesn't even see the hit that sends him flying. He bounces off a wall, and falls half dazed to the floor, trying to remember where all of his limbs are, and if they're still attached.
Ow.

Let's backdate this cause Magnus wouldn't miss a fight
Magnus hadn't been here long, not even a few hours really, before he goes to find a fight. He wouldn't call himself an expert on all this alternate planes of existences or parallel words, he does consider himself an expert on fighting, so that's what he focuses his time on.
So he heads of to battle, for Asgard apparently or so he keeps hearing. It doesn't take him long to find his first opponent, a huge frost giant making its way through the barrier. Magnus smirks and turns the dial of his Defender's Dial to its ice setting (it's not a huge jump that these things that look like they're made of ice probably use ice magic of some sort).
He two-handed grips Railsplitter and rushes in to attack.
Day 5:
These Dark Elves are a lot trickier to deal with than the frost giants from the day before. Magnus, instead of going out toward the barrier or outside of it to pick some fights, decides to hang inside and defend the halls since more of them seem to be inside the mansion rather than outside of it.
With the help of the Lens of Straight Creepin', he's able to track them down easier than it would be just wandering the halls. It doesn't take him too long to stumble across a small group of dark elves lurking the halls. Magnus readies the chance lance and the shield of heroic memories (quickly whispering a story about killing Magic Brian because, dammit he was a drow so it should count) before leaping around the corner, striking out against the closest elf.
/rolls in late with starbucks
Without moving from his spot, he casts Dominate Person on one of the elves, and immediately sets it to attacking his friends. Which, uh, maybe he should have told Magnus he was going to do that, because it's probably gonna be confusing as hell to see that start happening. Time to give away his hiding place, apparently.
"Hey broseph! Got ya back!"
