[CLOSED] We're painting the roses red, yes, painting the roses red!
Who: Mettaton, Sayaka and our special guests, the Playing Cards!
Where: The gardens
When: Backdated to September 17th
Rating: I’m going to assume PG unless something happens?
Summary: After a bit of hilarious back and forth, these two idols realized their special gifts from Wonderland go together. Now it’s time to attempt to puzzle out how to use them and see what happens.
The Story:
Mettaton gets out to the gardens after a small bit of time, his rather large plant passenger in tow weighing him down a bit in one arm. The other arm has a small bag filled with basic gardening supplies: gardening trowels, a small watering can filled with water, some mulch, some rose food, and two pairs of cute gardening gloves. The closet had been ever so accommodating when he had asked for tools to plant a rose bush, though once he realized what he had needed, he knew they needed to match. After some small back and forth over the, ah, aesthetics for such a thing, he finally was satisfied with what he received. Then, noticing that a little time had passed, he had packed up rather hurriedly to make sure he wouldn't keep Sayaka waiting.
He wanders out into the gardens, looking for the perfect spot of dirt to plant the bush in. When he finds a spot, semi-sequestered from the greater garden at large he waits, putting both the pot and the tools down on the ground next to him. He’s not sure if Sayaka is already here and he hasn't seen her yet, but if she isn't he knows she will be here soon and then, well. They’ll see what happens.

Well, we can't be potentially digging into Wonderland secrets and not look cute doing it!
[That's completely illegal!!!]
Though I suppose what we would be digging into is the garden here.
[He looks at the dirt, then the rose bush, then back to her.]
Any idea how to start this?

[Being like Mettaton had to be one of her new life goals. There was no one more fabulous than him. With a giggle, she happily takes the second pair of gloves and begins to slip her hands inside them.]
Hmm, I was wondering about that myself!
[She kneels down to the dirt patch, placing the bowl with the paint besides her.]
Should we plant it and then paint it? Or should we paint it first? In my mind, it would make more sense to plant it first but... this is Wonderland.
[Where nothing really makes sense.]

That's a fair point, darling. I know in the book they planted it first, then painted it, but that's what got them into trouble in the first place. Planting the wrong color.
[Do they follow that to the T? Or do they deviate from the script?]
We have some options before us, though they are few.
no subject
[She was seriously going to have to read the Alice in Wonderland novel to prepare her for any more events like these in the future.]
Hmmm...
[Sayaka ponders to herself, thinking about what would be the best way to go about this.]
It's a tough decision and a gamble, but would you like to try painting it first? Since the cards got it wrong in the book, I wonder if it would make sense to do it in the order the queen liked?

[Dorian is from that time period, Mettaton, that's why. That's like asking why a kid from the 90s is so attuned to Harry Potter.]
It couldn't hurt! The worst that'll happen is we have to wash the paint off.
[Mettaton, your knowledge of plants is terrible if you think washing a plant, especially a flower, is an easy thing to do without harming it.
He looks to the bowl Sayaka carried over curiously.]
Do you want to paint it or should I?
no subject
[She does recall that he was from an older time period, but she couldn't remember which time period he was from.]
Yeah! That's a good thought. It shouldn't be too hard to wash the paint off of plants.
[This girl is definitely the farthest thing from being a 'Super High School Level Gardener'. She needs to stick with singing for sure.]
I'll admit, I'm a little nervous to paint it but I don't mind giving it a try! Please feel free to correct me if you think I'm doing this wrong.
[Despite being a little unsure about painting the roses, she wanted to give it a try! Especially since Mettaton took the time to bring all the utensils, this was the least she could do.
Slowly, she takes the paint brush out of the bowl and begins to carefully paint it. Who knew that painting something could be so nerve racking? As she was painting it, she was still amazed that the paint on the brush was still wet even after a day. The power of Wonderland was truly mysterious.]

[Mettaton laughs a little.]
I'm sure you'll do just fine, darling.
[It's not like he has any specific idea of how this should be done but damn if he's not going to pretend like he does. He watches her methodically paint and he watches the bush, wondering if something will start happening this soon. Will something jump out of it? Will they be obliterated instantly by whatever capricious forces run Wonderland?
...It's probably a little late to worry about that now, huh?]
Are all the flowers painted?

[His words give her the encouragement that she needed. Even if it was just painting, she still couldn't help but feel nervous. But with Mettaton by her side, she felt as though she could do anything.
She narrows her eyes and continues to focus on fully covering the white rose with red paint. After a few moments, she's done and lets out a sigh of relief as she glances at Mettaton with a smile.]
Okay! They should be fully painted. Let's hope this works.
no subject
[Mettaton, for a moment, waits. When Sayaka finishes he subtly looks around, wondering if something will happen now that their color has been changed. When nothing happens he smiles back at her and nods.]
All right. I suppose it's planting time!
[If he were being completely honest right now, he'd say he was a bit worried as to what might happen. But as he gets his trowel and puts on his gardening gloves he knows that this is one of those situations where you have to commit to make something happen. Besides, he knows what he is capable of if they for whatever reason end up in danger.
He begins to dig the hole and occasionally looking at the pot to judge how deep the hole needs to be to put the bush in.]
no subject
Yay! Together we make a pretty good team.
[In a way, she was attempting to use her optimism as a way to mask her worries. Like Mettaton, she was a bit fearful as to what might happen once they were finished setting everything up. Hopefully no misfortunes would fall upon them when they were done.
Following Mettaton, Sayaka also starts to help him with the digging.]
Do you think we need to make the whole bigger?
no subject
I'm not entirely sure?
[Helpful, Mettaton, maybe you should have gotten a manual on how to plant things from the closet as well.]
We're supposed to take that out of it, right? It can't grow if its roots are blocked inside the plastic.
[He's pretty sure that's how plants work, right? They got roots?]
no subject
Yeah, I believe you are right! That makes perfect sense.
[There's a reason why she wasn't a Super High School Level Gardener.]
Okay, so... we'll take it out and then we place it in the hole? And then I guess we... put dirt over it?
[Does that sound correct? Someone help these two.]
no subject
[He should have thought of that earlier. Maybe sent the Monster a quick text about how his favorite celebrity needed his help or something. All well.
Regardless, there's no one but these two beautiful idols and thus it's time to shimmy this little bush out of its pot, which is certainly a hilarious endeavor all on its own because that plastic will not want to give easily. No gentle pinching of the bottom of the pot here because this is a bush and bigger than your average human hand. At some point a beautiful heeled boot probably had to be used to shove it out but once it's free, it's free and Mettaton sighs in relief. (And probably from a little bit of the exertion.)]
All right! Let's put this in the ground!
[It's not the gentlest of drops but there it goes, into the garden and he starts to fill the remaining gaps around it with dirt.]
Hopefully we've done this right and this won't, I don't know, spawn snakes or something.
no subject
[Gardening did seem like a fun hobby! Even if it took a lot of work.
She carefully watches him as he's taken the bush out of the pot. There's a bright smile on her face he was attempting to take the stubborn plastic off. Likewise, she knew that she would have trouble with it.]
Good job, Mettaton!
[She starts to laugh at his joke. Luckily, she was doing this with Mettaton. If she was by herself, her nerves would get the better of her and she would totally mess this all up.]
Yes, let's hope for the best! If snakes do happen to spawn, I'll do my best to get us both of here.
[Sayaka takes a deep breath and begins to help Mettaton fill the hole with some dirt. In the back of her mind, she was crossing her fingers for nothing scary to suddenly pop up when they were done.]

[It’s both beautiful and sad, really. Every bud in that room shows how the deaths of his two children still affect him deeply to this day. Of course, Mettaton has no idea how deep the pain truly goes and if the entire Dreemur family has their way, he’ll never know.
Sayaka’s good nature makes the rough time of pulling a plant all the more bearable, even if he is a tad embarrassed that it took that long.]
Thank you, thank you, I try! And succeed.
[He laughs as well at Sayaka’s reassurance.]
I can be very fast in these heels and I have some magical offensive abilities, so we should be fine. More or less.
[And where his monster bullets fail, his gams are good for kicking!!
Together they fill it up rather quickly. The deed is done. The bush is painted and planted. Now… they wait.]
no subject
[This Asgore guy sounded amazing just from what Mettaton had to say about him. She figured that someone who grew such beautiful plants must also be a nice person to be around.]
Oh thank goodness, that's really reassuring! Now I have even more reason to feel safe around you. I'll also be here to support you.
[Even if she can't fight, she sure as heck wasn't going to let Mettaton deal with danger all by himself.
Once they were done filling it up, Sayaka takes a deep breath as she nervously watches the bush.]
I wonder how long it will take...
