It may very well be the worst thing that's ever happened to you! | OPEN MINGLE
Who: EVERYONE!
Where: EVERYWHERE!
When: Friday October 27th - Tuesday October 31st
Rating: PG-13, warn if you're gonna go higher!
Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:
For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.
On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.
This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. And here's the plot post if you need it!
Have fun!

Raymond Reddington--Open--8th Floor room 200 and 8th Floor Hallway
[Red opens his door, expecting to find the same interior as he’d become accustomed to, his apartment in Maryland. Instead he saw the worst day of his life, Elizabeth’s second wedding.
He understood why he wasn’t invited, he shouldn’t have been. But when there was a threat on her life, he crashed the wedding. He had to, he made a promise to himself to keep her safe.
The ensuing gun fight and complications during the birth of Elizabeth’s daughter, Agnes, turned what should have been a happy day into one of the worst 24 hour spans of his life, and for a man who spent months in south east asian prisons, sleeping in caves, and any number of things most people can’t even fathom, that says a lot.
None of that prepared him for watching his daughter die, minutes after becoming a mother herself.]
[Eighth Floor Hallway]
[He knows what happened. Elizabeth’s death was manufactured. Kate Kaplan did it, to keep Elizabeth safe. She hadn’t, and instead elected to betray Red’s trust. He made her pay for that and Elizabeth and Agnes were safe for now.
That knowledge doesn’t change how he feels watching Elizabeth lying there in that ambulance, and the scotch he’s drinking does little to make the feelings go away. Then again he didn’t expect it to. The opium den he went to after all of this happened the first time hadn’t helped much either.
Thinking about it now, he’s surprised Wonderland doesn’t have one of those, all things considered.]

Are you... uhmmm... no one's okay today, are they?
no subject
[From the looks of things, whatever was behind the door to Newt's room was just as terrible as his.]
Alice wasn't kidding, was she?
no subject
[Because he's already talked to some who did die in those visions, and relived it. At least he'd forgone though.]
No, she wasn't at all. I'm sorry you had to go through whatever that was. Again.
no subject
[From Red's tone, whatever his room hid was worse than whatever caused him to actually die.]
I watched my daughter die, minutes after becoming a mother herself. I know now that she's fine, but the feelings from that moment. [He shakes his head.]
no subject
[Part of him thinks if he keeps talking about it, he'll stop having nightmares about it.]
Oh. Dear. Oh. I'm so sorry. This place... [He shakes his head.]
no subject
[He nods slightly.]
It was the most terrible moment of my life, and considering the one I've lived? That says a lot.
no subject
[It's never easy talking about it, even if Newt tries to pretend otherwise, even with his dropped gaze and avoiding eye contact. Not that either is unusual.]
I'm so sorry you've been through all you have. I truly am.
no subject
[Dying or almost dying is never easy to talk about.]
Most of it is my own making, I'm used to it for the most part, but watching Elizabeth like that, it's something I can't stand to see ever again.
no subject
[Which is how he looks at so many things, even before Wonderland.]
Many say that events that happens here only repeat once. If that's true, then you're likely not to encounter it again as you have.
no subject
[It's been that way for Red for a very long time.]
That's something at least. Replaying that day is not something I want to go through again.
no subject
At least that sounds the best to me.
no subject
[Which he procures from one of the nearby public closets and pours Newt a drink.]
It's not the best I've had but, it's better than nothing.

Would you be willing to share your spirits?
[ Asked as she gestures toward the bottle. ]
no subject
[Red procures a second glass from the closet, and a second bottle while he's at it. At this rate, he figured there would be a number of residents trying to forget what happened in their rooms. He pours Claire a drink, joining her again.]
What was behind your door?
no subject
War. World War Two. But my husband's memory is there too, and I can't bear it. Both of ours combined is too much.
[ She doesn't want to discuss her husband's memory, the torture at the hands of Black Jack. Taking the drink with thanks she takes a large swallow, closing her eyes and letting out a breath. ]
And yours?
no subject
[He downs the rest of his drink and pours another for himself.]
War is a terrible business....is your husband's about the war too?
no subject
No. He was captured by British red coats and his treatment was...
[ She hasn't lived it yet, so seeing herself sobbing as Jamie had to nail his own hand through a wooden table makes her feel ill. Downing what's in her glass in one shot, she holds it out for more, please. ]
It was unpleasant, to say the least.
no subject
You were in the Second World War, and your husband was captured by British Redcoats? How is that possible?
[He hopes he heard her correctly and it wasn't the alcohol playing tricks on him.]
no subject
I traveled back through time. From 1943 to the 18th century. I don't know how, it's about as explainable as how we all arrived in Wonderland, honestly.
no subject
[He tilts his glass in Claire's direction, to say 'cheers']
Torture is always two things, very unpleasant and very personal.
no subject
[ She swallows thickly, refraining from taking a very large gulp of drink. ]
And I was made to watch, at least part of it. I haven't...actually lived through it yet. This happens in my husband's future.
[ To know it's coming and to be helpless to stop it is a hell of a thing. ]
no subject
Were they really torturing you or him? Most of the time, watching someone you love go through that kind of pain is more effective to get whatever they want out of you.
Though I do hope something changes and you are able to stop it...watching that is awful.
no subject
[ She lets out a soft breath, and down goes more of the drink. ]
I hate being from his past knowing that at the moment I'm from, I'm looking forward to our future. But from his perspective, he's just...
[ Claire pauses, forehead creasing. ]
Just lost me.
no subject
[Why he said that is beyond him.]
How did he lose you?
[It's time travel, anything could happen really. And being here probably makes any time related issues even worse.]
