[NYE Party] happy new year and lots of fun
Who: EVERYONE, but especially you!
Where: Wonderland Ballroom
When: New Year's Eve
Rating: PG - PG13 (will change if applicable)
Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:
[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering dΓ©cor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.
Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown. ]

[ Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight? ]

[Maybe that's a little too honest. It sounds weird to her ears as she says it, but it was beautiful. It was clean and ornate and people were dancing and smiling and having fun and there was food and drinks and it was like something out of a movie. And she hasn't even seen a movie in years. It just all looked so untouched by destruction and that isn't something she's seen in a long while.]
Easier to hear the music inside anyway.

Music has always given R a way to imagine the way that Living might feel. When he puts on a Sinatra record and sits with the music humming through his body, he can try to fool himself that it isn't just the beat of the music that he feels in his ears, that the breaths he takes each time a new line begins are necessary.
He glances out of the alcove he's tucked into, along the corridor to the open door.]
Don't think I'd... be welcome.

Don't want t... to scare anyone.

Having something 'better' depends entirely on what people are afraid of, he'd suppose. As for what R is afraid of... he's working on it.]
I'm dead.
[Is that better?]
no subject
I'm talking to you. How dead can you be?
no subject
Give him a second. Dead joints get creaky and stiff when they're left in one position for too long, and it takes him a few seconds to coordinate himself properly and stand up.
He's got better at holding decent posture, and he might not even shuffle as he walks by her and into better light by the door. Then, he shrugs.
R might be good at walking like a Living person, but he still doesn't look like one.]
Last time I... checked... Pretty dead.
no subject
How? Did this happen here or back home?
no subject
[It's not obvious how. R doesn't have any chunks missing - in fact, he's remarkably well-preserved for a dead person.]
Don't re-.. remember how.
no subject
I have a strange question then... Are you okay? [Does it hurt? Is he dangerous? I mean, he's kind of a zombie, right? Is calling someone a zombie rude?]
no subject
[Is he okay? Well, he's dead, but he's still walking around, still in one piece, and he isn't getting urges to eat people or pick bits of his skin off.
All in all, he's felt more alive here than he ever has.]
I'm okay.
no subject
Well, then maybe you should go party. If that's what you want. You're only undead once? [She's still not entirely sure what to make of it honestly, but he's different and she gets being different. She's always been different in one way or another, usually several.]
no subject
Better not.
[Having seen first-hand the kind of panic that someone who looks like him walking into a large group of people can do, it's just... better if he doesn't.] Not good with c-... crowds.
no subject
Your call though.
no subject
It really is weird.]
Maybe... next time. [Big maybe.] But you sh-.. should, if you want to...
no subject
Honestly, I don't really know what I want right now. I'm having...a day. Which is something coming from me.
no subject
He gives a sympathetic nod.]
Wanna... talk about it?
no subject
I think I died. [So, apparently she's talking about it anyway. But somethings you really have to get off your chest and dying is pretty big. And he's easy to talk to because dead men tell no tales? Or maybe because he just shared his own story with her.] It's the last thing I remember before I was here. [Except she's alive in every way she's ever known herself to be alive.]
no subject
R doesn't remember dying. What he remembers is waking up, alone and so hungry, in the middle of a forest and knowing somehow that he had to find his way to people.]
... S-sorry.
no subject
no subject
Don't... remember. Just remember... this.
[The smallest gesture at himself. He doesn't remember dying, but he knows a lot about being dead. It's... probably not the same thing.]
Nothing from be... fore.
no subject
What about your name? I'm Kitty.
no subject
[He wishes, often and quite fervently, that he could remember something. Those thoughts had faded, temporarily, when he was with Julie and all he really wanted to remember was the time he'd spent with her, but being in Wonderland had awakened his curiosity about himself.
Memories he didn't know he had had already been shown to him. How could he not wonder about what else his mind might be keeping from him?]
I'm... R. [Shrug.] That's... all I remember.
no subject
R it is then. [She offers her hand, you know, for shaking.]
