+ The Time Has Come, the Time Is Now +

Who: Everyone in Wonderland!
Where: The chessboard hills
When: Monday, June 11, all day starting at 10:00 AM
Rating: R for (sometimes excessive) violence
Summary: The Queen of Hearts has declared war and the time for battle has come.
The Story:
♥ ICly, the Real Things who will act as pieces volunteered and are led by the Red Queen. The Mirrors were chosen by the Queen of Hearts without being given a choice. The Queen of Hearts announced her choices to her Mirrors very directly, with an order to show up at 10:00 AM on the chessboard, ready to fight. The Red Queen announced her choices more politely, but just as firmly, with a text message sent out over the network listing her pieces and requesting their assistance to protect their fellow Real Things. Characters were not ICly able to respond to this message.

♥ Those pieces who choose to obey the summons will have time to gather any items or weapons they might want to have with them, within reason. Those who don't heed the summons will find themselves suddenly and instantly transported to their square on the chessboard when 10:00 AM rolls around. They will arrive with anything that was on their person at the time, as well as one weapon (whatever it would be normal for them to use). Likewise, any spectators who are not in or around the stands by 10:00 AM will find themselves transported there.

♥ Each player sports an armband, white for the Real Things and Black for the Mirrors, with the shape of their assigned chess piece embroidered in the opposite color. Royalty pieces wear crowns indicative of their status. Should a pawn be promoted to queen, a crown will appear on their head.

♥ Pieces will find that they can't leave their assigned spots until they're told what square to move to by either the Queen of Hearts or the Red Queen. And if they refuse to move, after a couple of moments, an unseen force will scoot them along to their new space.

♥ When threading moves on the board, please find the appropriate top-level under which to comment! It might be helpful to label your thread with which move/encounter you're playing out.

♥ Players on the board can not communicate with those in the stands and vice versa (other than by jumping around and flailing, I guess). However, players on the board can communicate directly with those in squares adjacent to them or with any challenger whose square they share. Since some pieces have a lot of down time, feel free to have them chat with others on the board while they're waiting around.

♥ Directions from the Queens can be assumed. Go ahead and play out moves without waiting for a comment to officially announce them.

♥ The plotting and info post for this log is here.

Have fun!

You... realize I'm going to have to destroy you, right?

( Her eyes threaten to burn, but she does not let them. She swallows them back, gripping hold of her rage like it is a shield. It's not. She is sentencing someone to do something horrible, because they do not have a choice either. Because she does not want to be a piece even if she will be exactly that once she is dead, once she is gone. )

Yeah, I do.

( She has died before. Dying doesn't scare her anymore. )

Go ahead.

[M'Lapis kind of squints at Clementine a moment longer. She still doesn't entirely get this, but, like, okay, she guesses? Clearly the human has an idea in mind, and has made a decision she intends to stick with, however weird her reasoning may be. And M'Lapis doesn't particularly want this, but she tried. Nobody can blame her.]

If you say so. [She grimaces faintly. She doesn't really do empathy, but smashing someone who's just standing there waiting for it is still morbid and a bit unsettling. Her tone, to her credit, is a little more genuine when she adds,] I'll try to make this quick.

[She raises her hands almost in a shrug, and behind her, the contents of her kiddie pool rise in the form of a third hand. It's not as big as the Lapis standard, but still quite sufficient to cover a young girl, pouring down onto Clementine with enough force to pin her to the ground. It's an open question whether the drowning really will kick in before the sheer crushing force does too much damage, but either way that's a lot of not breathing. It's not going to be pleasant, but at least it shouldn't take long to black out.]

( To her credit, Clementine does not flinch until the moment before the water hits. Her jaw remains locked as she watches that raw power Lapis displays, how easily she controls the water. She understands how easy it would be for Lapis to kill her likely on any playing field even one that was not so flat.

The water crashes down on top of her, pinning her down. Water fills her mouth. It is instinct to fight the inevitable, instinct to fight for breath even if she understands she won't get it. The crush and the heaviness of water is more painful than she expects it to be. She's nearly drowned before but even the burning of her lungs, the desperation for air has never been so intense and abrupt before.

But at least it's fast. Darkness edges in on her vision as every part of her screams (to fight, to breathe, to be more, to make a difference, to change something, to do.

and it doesn't matter because it's already over. ) Her part in the game is done.)
