Summary: The Queen of Hearts has declared war and the time for battle has come.
The Story:
♥ ICly, the Real Things who will act as pieces volunteered and are led by the Red Queen. The Mirrors were chosen by the Queen of Hearts without being given a choice. The Queen of Hearts announced her choices to her Mirrors very directly, with an order to show up at 10:00 AM on the chessboard, ready to fight. The Red Queen announced her choices more politely, but just as firmly, with a text message sent out over the network listing her pieces and requesting their assistance to protect their fellow Real Things. Characters were not ICly able to respond to this message.
♥ Those pieces who choose to obey the summons will have time to gather any items or weapons they might want to have with them, within reason. Those who don't heed the summons will find themselves suddenly and instantly transported to their square on the chessboard when 10:00 AM rolls around. They will arrive with anything that was on their person at the time, as well as one weapon (whatever it would be normal for them to use). Likewise, any spectators who are not in or around the stands by 10:00 AM will find themselves transported there.
♥ Each player sports an armband, white for the Real Things and Black for the Mirrors, with the shape of their assigned chess piece embroidered in the opposite color. Royalty pieces wear crowns indicative of their status. Should a pawn be promoted to queen, a crown will appear on their head.
♥ Pieces will find that they can't leave their assigned spots until they're told what square to move to by either the Queen of Hearts or the Red Queen. And if they refuse to move, after a couple of moments, an unseen force will scoot them along to their new space.
♥ When threading moves on the board, please find the appropriate top-level under which to comment! It might be helpful to label your thread with which move/encounter you're playing out.
♥ Players on the board can not communicate with those in the stands and vice versa (other than by jumping around and flailing, I guess). However, players on the board can communicate directly with those in squares adjacent to them or with any challenger whose square they share. Since some pieces have a lot of down time, feel free to have them chat with others on the board while they're waiting around.

The beginning of summer brings warmth and fun. It is a time to enjoy all of the hard work of the previous months. During this time, think of the help you could give to those who cannot yet help themselves. Touch the donation box and forget the words "floccinaucinihilipilification" for a good cause. The word may be gone, but your kindness will not be forgotten.
On the back of the card the word in question is helpfully defined, for anybody who wishes to know more before saying goodbye to it:
FLOCCINAUCINIHILPILIFICATION At 28 letters, this term refers to the estimation of something as worthless. Perhaps you will feel that way about this word and donate it to those in need.
OOC INFORMATION
The box will do exactly what the card describes. Anybody who touches it will feel dizzy for a brief moment, and then permanently forget the word "floccinaucinihilipilification", just as people would normally forget event words. Both Mirrors and Reals can donate the word. Donations both voluntary and involuntary will be accepted, meaning the word will also be forgotten by anybody touching the box by accident, or while forced or compelled.

( Clementine packs up what she needs and heads out when she gets the call without realizing what she's heading out for. She packs her shotgun and her pistol. She sheaths the katana that Michonne gave to her and trained her with. She puts away the tape recorder Georgia once gave her. She packs chocolate chip granola bars cause like Peggy Carter said, she should have good food on the way.
It's only when she gets there that she realizes where she is, what exactly she signed herself up for. There's this flat surface where anyone could be killed at a moment's notice without hesitation. She only recognizes it as chess because once when Wonderland turned to Hogwarts, she saw Klaus play it. And he's gone now, and she misses him like she misses Iris and Richie and a lot of people who aren't here anymore.
She sees Tim and Jay here too, and Jean, and Daisy, and she wants to scream. Because this is not what she wanted- this is not what she signed up to be. This is not being a soldier or a guardian or good. This is being a piece in a fucking game, and she hates it. )
Fuck. ( the word leaves her more shakily than she means it to. Her hand gripping to her shot gun. ) Fuck, fuck. Fuck. Are you kidding me? Why the fuck does signing up to protect my home mean I'm now your piece to do whatever the hell you want to with?
( When it's time for her to move, she resists it- she tries to resist it but she cannot. She's stuck. Some force is pushing her forward into a spot she doesn't want to be, because it puts her closer to danger she can't escape from. She doesn't get to choose.
She didn't know what she was signing up for, and she hates it. Her eyes burning as she pushes back against the unseen force only to find herself moved anyway, landing roughly on the square with her heart beating too fast. Her hands are fists. )

He actually had hoped that he didn't have to fight anyone else, but the Queen had told him to move. He had no choice but to move and fight, keeping in the back of his mind that he would have to check on the first person he defeated at a later time. For now, he was told to get to that new square to take down someone else. That someone else had just taken out one of his teammates; he supposed it was fitting or just in its own way, if only to help ensure the Real side won. Not that he'd wish harm on anyone else.
It almost seemed unfair, really, since he saw that last scuffle and no magic or powers or anything of the sort was used. At least his new opponent didn't kill his teammate. He'd have to return that same favor if he could. It was at least more merciful, though it didn't make him feel any less guilty about it.]
If you're hurt, I can heal you first.

Minato was glad that he had some time to regain some of his health and spirit after the last two battles he had. They hadn't taken as much out of him as he thought they would, but going into battle without being at his best was already a bad enough sign. But with the firepower his opponent had? Minato didn't think he had a chance anyway, even if he were at 100%. Guns. Those always did a number on people despite how much magic or supernatural ability anyone had in their arsenal.
But he'd still try. He had to defend himself, at least, and try to make it out of this battle as unscathed as possible. He has his Evoker ready. His Personas were ready. At this point, all of this wasn't even for him: It was for those around him, everyone on the board, one person in particular, who would have to watch him fight, and he didn't want to give up that easily for their sake.]

By all accounts, the Queen of Hearts should be winning. She outnumbers her sister four to three, though one of those pieces is a pawn that can't go anywhere without putting the king in check. In queens, the Queens are evenly matched.
(It's a stupid game. It always was. Who would want to protect a king anyway? She never understood why her sisters were so fond of it.)
She can see the end just before it happens. There is only one move that her king can safely make, and her sister slides a queen into the space instead. Checkmate is called, and in a flash of white light all of the pieces are returned to the board unharmed. The invisible borders between the squares vanish, and everyone is able to gather in a mixed-up crowd of Reals and Mirrors when they suddenly appear below the Queens again. The stands are mixed as well, between people cheering for the Reals, people relieved their loved ones are safe, and people very wisely keeping silent, for fear of what might happen next.
The Queen of Hearts is red in the face up on her platform, and gripping her microphone so tight she might snap it in half. She has stood up from her seat and the Vorpal Sword hangs at her side, as it always does in times of war.]

[She cannot help but feel the victim here. She was doing just fine with her subject on her side of the glass, but then the Red Queen had to keep inviting them to parties and covering everything in hearts to make them more likely to go. The Red Queen wanted everything and now it seems she's gotten it, but the Queen of Hearts won't go without one last fight - even if that fight is just screaming at the top of her lungs at her sister.]
