Summary: The Queen of Hearts has declared war and the time for battle has come.
The Story:
♥ ICly, the Real Things who will act as pieces volunteered and are led by the Red Queen. The Mirrors were chosen by the Queen of Hearts without being given a choice. The Queen of Hearts announced her choices to her Mirrors very directly, with an order to show up at 10:00 AM on the chessboard, ready to fight. The Red Queen announced her choices more politely, but just as firmly, with a text message sent out over the network listing her pieces and requesting their assistance to protect their fellow Real Things. Characters were not ICly able to respond to this message.

♥ Those pieces who choose to obey the summons will have time to gather any items or weapons they might want to have with them, within reason. Those who don't heed the summons will find themselves suddenly and instantly transported to their square on the chessboard when 10:00 AM rolls around. They will arrive with anything that was on their person at the time, as well as one weapon (whatever it would be normal for them to use). Likewise, any spectators who are not in or around the stands by 10:00 AM will find themselves transported there.

♥ Each player sports an armband, white for the Real Things and Black for the Mirrors, with the shape of their assigned chess piece embroidered in the opposite color. Royalty pieces wear crowns indicative of their status. Should a pawn be promoted to queen, a crown will appear on their head.

♥ Pieces will find that they can't leave their assigned spots until they're told what square to move to by either the Queen of Hearts or the Red Queen. And if they refuse to move, after a couple of moments, an unseen force will scoot them along to their new space.

♥ When threading moves on the board, please find the appropriate top-level under which to comment! It might be helpful to label your thread with which move/encounter you're playing out.

♥ Players on the board can not communicate with those in the stands and vice versa (other than by jumping around and flailing, I guess). However, players on the board can communicate directly with those in squares adjacent to them or with any challenger whose square they share. Since some pieces have a lot of down time, feel free to have them chat with others on the board while they're waiting around.

♥ Directions from the Queens can be assumed. Go ahead and play out moves without waiting for a comment to officially announce them.

[ Chloe is trying to push down her own doubts about all of this.

This isn't her. She's never been interested in vengeance. Justice, yes. But vengeance was a whole other story, and that's what this was, without a doubt. Still, she shoots Freya a half-annoyed look before returning her own gaze to the crowd. ]

Why does everyone keep telling me that?

[Freya raises her eyebrows, a slight bit of amusement crossing her features before it settles again.]

Because some things shouldn't be compromised, no matter the cause.

[For Freya, this isn't a compromise. Her mirror is a danger and needs to be taken care of, and this isn't the first time she's gotten her hands dirty. But for Chloe, who is a cop and that special kind of lawful good, she can imagine this being a bit more difficult.]

[ She tries to hide the small, unsteady breath that escapes her mouth, her eyes now actively avoiding her friend. All of them know she's the least suited for this, but they are all that's left of the havoc Freya's Mirror wreaked the year before. That had been her first introduction to what Wonderland was capable of, the magic it possessed. It had been a trial by fire that almost left Lucifer dead and Elena even worse. After how it begun, it doesn't feel right not to see it all through to the end. ]

It's not a compromise. It's keeping people safe. [ Keeping him safe, her friends safe. ] Maybe this is the only option.

[ She won't let Wonderland change her, but that doesn't mean she has to put up with its shit, either. ]

[Freya nods once, before handing her a drink from the vendors.]

So long as you're sure.

[She doesn't want this to be something that Chloe feels like she was forced into. Chloe is her friend first, and that's really all that matters.]

She killed Elena. Believe me, I'm sure.

[ She's not, but it sounds convincing enough for her ears, so she takes the drink and tries to sip at it casually. ]

You really think this'll work?

[Freya's eyes scan through the crowds again, when she catches sight of her doppelganger heading their way. She then straightens, tensing as though she's anticipating a fight, but her face staying calm.]

I suppose we'll see soon enough.

[ Chloe follows Freya's gaze. She can't help the way her heart sinks into her stomach when she sees her Mirror. Her game face is on, though, and you couldn't tell from the outside that she's pretty scared. ]

Let's just get this over with.

[As her mirror steps into view, she has a look of amusement on her face that doesn't belong there. Of course the Queens have decided to try their luck at a game of chance and skill.

And of course, her Real is trying to make a stupid move in an incredibly public place.]

Well, well, well. It's been a long time, hasn't it?

[ Most of Chloe's fear manages to dissipate once Freya's mirror is in front of them and is completely replaced with a rush of adrenaline. She manages to keep her face neutral, though, the irony of her life being Chloe has never been a particularly good actress. ]

Yeah, sorry we haven't invited you over for dinner lately. We thought the murder thing might make it weird.

Still holding such a grudge after so long.

[She shakes her head.]

Elena isn't even here for me to "torment" anymore.

Yeah, too bad about that.

[ Chloe is fighting the urge to haul off and hit her. Unfortunately, getting herself immediately killed would probably ruin their plan. ]

But you're resourceful. I'm sure you've found someone else to torment by now.

[Freya straightens at that point, reaching for Chloe's arm and steering her towards the less populated area of the stands.]

Ignore her. We should get back to the game.

[ For a split second, Chloe wonders if she screwed up and showed her hand, but then realizes this is just the part where it's time to lure Freya's mirror to her fate. Or lead her to kill all of them in a fit of evil magic, whatever. ]

Yeah, sure, fine. [ At least she doesn't have to fake the dirty look that she shoots towards the Mirror before letting Freya guide her away. ]

[Being dismissed does not sit well with Freya's mirror and she glares at their back before she follows, a few steps behind them until they reach the quiet end of the stands, where Wynonna and Lucifer are waiting for them, Freya will lead Chloe to pass through into the crowd again, leaving a space for their coconspirators to work.

And like a lamb to slaughter, her mirror follows.]
