Summary: Snow is getting there in regards to bieng a happier, typical her after family things.
The Story:
[ Since the recent(ish) responsibility given to her by Dan of taking care of Evelyn's horse Aqila, Snow's taken it very seriously, out at the stables every morning, usually just after the sun's risen. She takes her out for a ride to stretch her legs, then feeds her apples and gives her fresh hay and water. Once that's done, Snow takes her time to brush her out, talk to her and even sing. Today, she's singing a somewhat familiar fairy tale song inspired by her ever-present wish for David to be there with her. Maybe, if she keeps believing he'll arrive, he actually will. ]
[ It isn't guns that Snow shoots, but arrows which may be a bit different from what's normally fired at the targets. Music blaring in earbuds, she's focused but off, frowning when she doesn't hit her intended target. She never misses, so she tries again, then again. The third time she goes bullseye, so she hangs onto that, shaking off the prior misses and firing off five more shots. All of them hit dead center, but she knows the initial feeling of being off-balance is because of the lingering effects of the chess match, of watching her mirror be generally terrible even if she died early. A part of her wants to try reaching out but what good would it do? She's so distracted by her thoughts that she doesn't even realize it when someone's practicing their aim next to her until a gun goes off and breaks through the music and her thoughts, causing her to jump and look over, pulling out her earbuds. ]
[ Any time Snow's in the diner, she feels like she's home. She doesn't even have to close her eyes to do it since it is the diner from home, for the most part. Everything's the same, there's just no Granny or Ruby. Still, it's busy, so Snow goes to a table occupied by one and smiles, gesturing to the empty space. ]
Do you mind if I join you? Everyone seemed to have the same idea this morning.
[ Snow's room is basically just the same from home minus a kitchen and an actual loft. Still, it looks exactly the same as the apartment in Storybrooke, and today, in an effort to be neighborly, she has the door open while she sits at her little table sipping tea and reading a book. People don't seem to pass by often, but when they do, she smiles, the open door inviting but not demanding. Friends, family, people she's never met - she's up for any company in whatever form it may take.

[Since that's the only way he knows to describe it, given the closest he's seen to such things is the Dome itself.
He shakes his head, feeling for her.]
I'm just... I'm floored, I admit. For all you've been through. All of you. It must be hard dealing with them here though. I know that if some from our world showed up here it could really make our lives miserable. And not just me and Julia.
no subject
[ If that's what he means. ]
Someone at home stripped her of her magic before she showed up here. Wonderland just didn't give it back.
[ She knows her world and all of its mechanics is a lot to try and digest, so the fact that Barie is even trying is incredible to her. ]
There are others who could show up far, far worse than Drizella and most everyone here would be powerless to stop them. But my stepmother is the most powerful witch in Wonderland. She doesn't just look out for our family either, she helps others, too. So if you ever need anything, if anyone from home comes here and you need help, let me know.

[Well, that's... he's not even sure what to make of that. Both in the abilities that seem so common place in Snow's own world, and knowing there's a chance that this place could have fixed that and didn't.
He opens his mouth, pausing like that and then closing his mouth.]
If your world has people so powerful and yet you are all stuck here as well, it makes you wonder about whatever power is truly behind this place.
[And it isn't a comforting thought either. Not in his mind. Not after the Dome. Which brings up another thought in his mind.]
You got it. I will. Though, I have a question and it's going to see weird probably. Or, with your life [He smiles at that.] maybe not.
Your world, to stop that from hitting everything and everyone, was there a dome or something over your world? Something you couldn't get through?
no subject
[ And it is pretty discomforting. Snow hates feeling out of control and not being able to do something. At his question, she thinks back to what she's learned most recently. ]
Sort of, I suppose. There's a magical force field around so that to anyone who stumbles upon it, it just looks like vast forest. They can't get in, and for a while, until the curse was broken, we couldn't get out.

In the last few weeks, the town I was in became trapped in a dome. It cut us off, and no one could get in that we found really. The military even hit it with a MOAB, mother of all bombs, and not so much as a scratch.
no subject
That sounds a lot like a magical barrier. Though, I'm guessing people can still see that the town is there, it isn't as if it's suddenly gone.
no subject
They can see us though. I communicated with soldiers on the other side with notes. No sound though, and nothing through it. We ended up with our own environment inside of it. Also, it shocked people, and there were things like pink stars falling from the sky and it can move.
Still sounding magical?
no subject
...Maybe. A lot of things exist that we don't know of until, well. We do. Look at the young woman here who's a zombie. That was just movies and fiction for her until she woke up one day, undead. So, it could be magic. My town - Storybrooke - certainly functions independently of any outside source. And for twenty-eight years, time didn't even move. We never aged, we never moved forward time. That's why my daughter's the same age I am. Before the curse hit, I...
[ Has she told him this part before? She honestly can't remember. Sorry, Barbie if this is the second time you've heard it. ]
I made sure she was far away, out of our land. She aged all those years, and I didn't. The shocking and the pink stars is new, but magic is different everywhere. That doesn't really mean anything.
no subject
[Though he isn't sure why with magic either, though it could be like this place as well.]
So you're used to things like this place. Except here you know you're not aging? Though I'm sorry, Snow. You're a strong woman, you know. To be able to give up your child, for her sake.
[He likes to believe he could be that mature about it, but until he faces it, he own't know.
no subject
[ At what he says, she pauses. Is she actually strong? She doesn't know. She just did what she had to in order to give everyone their best chance. ]
I was supposed to leave while I was still pregnant. But she came so fast and there wasn't enough magic for both of us once she was born.
[ Snow looks up at Barbie. ]
Thank you, for saying that. I second guess myself all the time. Even now, knowing it was always her who had to break the curse and even though she's come to terms with all of it. I'll always wonder if it wouldn't have been better to let her be cursed with us.
no subject
[Which is hard for him as well. Julia and he have known each other for so much longer in Wonderland, and eventually they're going to lose that all. That's okay though, because he knows they'll start again. He has no worries about that.
He shakes his head, lips pursing a moment thinking about what she, what they, have been through.]
And stay a child all these years? A baby even? Isn't that what would have happened?
no subject
[ Snow smiles thinly and nods. ]
That's what would have happened. And then she never would have broken the curse. It was prophecy, before she was ever born, that she'd be someone called the Savior. There's one in every realm. She was destined to break this curse before it was even cast.
no subject
[He pauses, then adding as if it might be funny but mostly to just break up the tension.]
I mean, forever diapers?
[He winces after he says it though.]
Sorry. Humor is just one of those things.
[He blinks at that though, his mind suddenly racing.]
In every... Every realm? So, I mean, like one that could be called the Monarch? In the same kind of role?
no subject
[ She smiles softly in understanding. ]
There...is one in every realm, yes, but I've never heard of one being called anything other than the Savior. Although, I suppose it's possible. Why?
no subject
no subject
[ After all, would Snow had ever known without Rumplestiltskin? ]
We didn't know we'd be having the key to breaking the darkest curse imaginable until...well, until we were trying to find ways to stop Regina.
[ But back to this Dome thing. ]
Do you have any idea what the purpose of the Dome is yet? Has it offered any...suggestions?
no subject
[And he's never certain if it's something they want or not, if it will help them or destroy them.]
No, I wish. It's basically caused riots, deaths, and men turning on one another.
no subject
[ Even when the town tried to pin Katherine's death on her - she wasn't even really dead. ]
I don't know what your Dome is, but the more you tell me the less it sounds like magic. At least any sort of magic from my world.
no subject
[And he hates the idea that the way this place works, it could happen again with family. Though with the woman she is, and how she seems to just light up a room and help others, she isn't likely to be alone so long as she is in Wonderland. At least there is that.]
The death and murders happened because of people panicking. Kind of the same thing you expect when things go badly in cities after natural disasters.
And I don't know if it's a curse, but damn it felt like one.
[Because maybe not everyone in the town was good people, or even the majority of them, but had even most of them deserved all that had happened to them?]
I'm not sure if that's reassuring or not, to tell the truth. But thanks for entertaining me on this one.
no subject
In the same breath, she's not eager to go up against more villains than she knew were still out there, waiting to destroy her or Regina or all of them. ]
I'm happy to talk any of this out with you, I just wish I had something concrete that you could hang your hat on.
no subject
Hope in a situation like this is more than most have. So thank you. Though I may talk to Julia about the savior thing, and see what she thinks. And then a thought occurs to him.]
What becomes of the saviors? Do you know of in other worlds?
no subject
[ Snow smiles softly at that, wishing she were home if only get be able to watch her daughter live her happy ending. ]
Sometimes heroes die, I'm sure, that's...part of it. But it doesn't always have to be that way.
no subject
All of this has happened to us in two weeks, and I just wish I had a clue where it's all going. If it's this savior route, then something may be coming and Julia is going to lead us maybe. I can handle that.
I just... I fear we're being had.
no subject
[ She says that with quiet sadness in her voice. ]
All you can do is hope you're making the right decisions in the meantime.
no subject
[He drops his gaze, sighing softly as he shakes his head.]
I'm probably not going to have any time to make a decision. Not a new one. I survived a hanging moments before coming here, but I'm probably not going to avoid the SUV that was barrelling towards me.
[It's the reality he's faced since coming to Wonderland, but one he doesn't talk about. With Snow he felt comfortable admitting it, even as he worries he's burdening her.]
