[When Freya learns the ... details of this particular event, she's less than inclined to participate. Giving someone who isn't prepared for it her magic sounds like a recipe for disaster, and she isn't looking to shop around for something new. What she intends to do is she intends to hide in her room until the event passes, and she isn't looking for company.

That's why when she opens her door to find Kol waiting there, she can't help but be surprised.]

[Part of her knows it's a bad idea, when she finds the CD marked "magic." She doesn't know what kind of magic she would be getting, or even if it'd be something she'd be able to use. For all she knows, this could be just dumb slight of hand bullshit, but she has to try.

Magic was all she had, and she doesn't even have that to fall back on. She just wants to feel that rush again, feel that power, feel strong.

Feel like she can protect herself, for once since she arrived here.

She inserts the CD, which is probably the grossest and weirdest thing she's ever done, and just like that, there's that tingle in her fingertips again. Power floods through her and she feels like herself again, for the first time in months.

Still, as she summons the fireball to her fingertips, it doesn't feel quite the same. It doesn't give her the control that it used to. And when she hears footsteps behind her, she tenses, as though she's a child doing something she knows is wrong, and tries to extinguish it quickly before she's spotted.]
