The Story:
Orlais' current ruler, Lacie, has invited anyone of name, fame, and influence to The Winter Palace for three days of extravagant festivities surrounding the peace talks between her and Tillie, whose grasp for the throne has plunged beautiful Orlais into a dreadful civil war. Unbeknownst to both a third player, Elsie, has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to obtain her own share of power over the land.

Get ready for three days of fancy food, fine drink, good music, good entertainment, and just a little bit of murder, maybe? Your character has secured an invitation, and will join the illustrious crowd, become privy to the latest scandals and gossip, and observe as the struggle for Orlais' throne reaches its final chapter.

Ishimaru feels like he's walking on eggshells throughout the entire party - that any false move could result in the nobles casting him out completely. He does appreciate the lady's warm greeting, but her hushed comment takes him by surprise! Kiyotaka's known nothing but respect for the formality that comes with such events.

He sweats slightly as he replies in his own hush. "I... I see! Perhaps they could stand to make it a little less grander... but I appreciate the chance to have such a formal occasion! There is nothing quite like night when everyone gets to look and act their absolute best!"

She tilts her head to one side, looking at him from the corner of her eye. "Of course. Their absolute best." The servant arrives, and Maxine takes two slender glasses, holding one out for Ishimaru.

"Let's hope they also behave their absolute best," she adds a moment later. "Especially with so much on the line tonight."

Peace talks are important, and she hopes that's all tonight represents.

"Yes, of course!" Ishimaru nods quickly in agreement and then accepts his glass with a small smile and a quick thank you.

"I am putting all of my hopes in these peace talks going smoothly! I am sure that all will be well before long!" He sounds like he's trying to convince himself as much as anyone else, though. "In fact, we should toast to peace!"

Maxine brightens. She holds up her glass, tilting it slightly toward him. "To peace. A goal worth aiming for."

Though she seriously doubts the talks will accomplish that much, it's nice to hope.
