Food and Fun - OPEN Gathering!

Who: Everyone!
Where: Outside on the grounds, near the gardens
When: Saturday, August 11th
Rating: G! If you take it to an extreme sexy or extreme sad place, please warn in the subject line!
Summary: Liv and Papyrus host Wonderland's Inagural Inter-planetary Fod Festival!
The Story:

The stage has been set for everyone to have food from all over time and space, and Liv is possibly a little more excited about this than she should be. Her message with Papyrus didn't seem to drum up a ton of interest when they made their announcement, but she's hoping like hell this actually goes somewhere.

There's a table with Sharpie pens and little cards to write the name of the dish, main ingredients, and where it came from (plus the bringer's dish if they want) and three huge coolers filled with ice and various drinks like bottled water, juice boxes, soda, and beer for the adults (that one's labeled on top). Cutlury, napkins, and cups are taken care of! There's also music playing, the equivalent to what might as well be a random Pandora station not set on one specific genre of music. It easily goes from an Adele song to the Spice Girls and back around to something by Adam Lavine.

All that's really left, is for Liv to sit back and enjoy the day.

[ OOC: This is, obviously, a gathering post! Please top level, tag around, and have fun! ]

I see.

[And she mostly did. Or at least she is trying to and not to just blindly panic, because after all that time in Hell, memories of the worst that has happened to her have occupied her mind in the last few days since she found herself in Wonderland.]

I suppose I should't be surprised that they would want to bring religion to the masses here, no matter what this place truly is.

Don't know if that's what me being here means, that they're trying to bring religion to everyone. Don't think I'm here strictly 'cause I'm a preacher.

[ they probably chose the wrong man, if that's the case. there are plenty of others out there more suited for this than him, if that's what he was brought to wonderland for ]

No offense, but I hope that's not the case.

[She sways, clutching the ends of her shawl and holding them tight against her chest. She isn't letting herself panic, though suddenly worrying about the ease with which she has been using her magic in this place.]

I'm not sure any of us are here for any particular reason. Not that anyone's been able to tell me. Just would make sense though, I guess.

None taken.

[ had he been brought to wonderland from texas, he may not feel the same way. he'd been hyper-focused on being a good preacher, after all, bringing religion back to annville. things are a little different for him now ]

There's gotta be some reason why we're here, even if no one's figured it out yet. [ though some people have been here a long time ] Or d'you really think we all ended up here just because?

I haven't been here long enough to know for sure. My reasons though may not be yours.

Someone said we get dragged here, but not sure if that would mean it just happens, or that someone grabs us up by the scruff and drags us here.

You're likely right. Our reasons are probably not the same.

I don't think someone just grabs us and drags us here, but I don't think it just happens neither. But I've also only been here a week and still don't know nothing about this place. [ so who's he to say what's true and what isn't, really? ]

Makes you wonder though. If they have a reason, what would it be. Why snatch us all up like we're just dolls to play with?

[Which is, for her at least, a discomforting thought to have. She's been trapped enough to find the place nervewracking and running into Jesse has only made her more uncertain.]

Why would they bring a man of the cloth here, just to be tormented?

That's the question though, isn't it? I read that Wonderland wants souls and memories, but why us instead of the people who didn't end up here? Why're we the lucky ones Wonderland picked to toy with?

[ and quite frankly, he's not a fan of being toyed with. but then, who is really? ]

Your guess is as good as mine. Torment sounds about right, though. Maybe I finally pissed off the wrong people.

Maybe there's something in our memories that is stronger than others? Maybe it's luck of the draw? Me bein' here is a lot better than what I came from, so I think I'm less likely to look into it than most.

[She's not suffering day in and day out through the torments of Hell. What's a few words lost, and working to avoid death? It's better than what she will eventually return to.]

I find that interesting. I mean, besides a minister going around upsettin' people. Some think this place is punishment, and for some it's been salvation.

Maybe. [ that sounds plausible. he can't speak for everyone, but he's got some pretty powerful memories swirling around in his head. he rubs his eyes as he sighs heavily ] Christ, I don't even know what I'd do with the information even if we did have answers.

Sounds like there's a few folks like you who wouldn't mind sticking around here for a while. [ can't say he agrees but snow helped him see the appeal, at least a little ]

Punishment or salvation...

I suspect if they found the truth, most of them would work on getting what they want. Those missing home, and those that wish they were able to stay here forever.

[Even as she speaks, she holds the hem of her shawl tightly, hands about one another before her so that the strands cut into her skin. She doesn't seem to notice, though, trying not to let a single presence upset her that much.]

I'm one of those folks. I know this is salvation, because I've already dealt with the other side of things. This is what saved me from it.

People're selfish. Of course they'd work on getting what they want if they knew how.

[ whether it's people like her, who would like to stay in wonderland for however long they can manage it, or people like him, who have no interest in being here any longer than they have to be. not like he's got himself the greatest situation to go back to or anything ]

This may look like salvation now, but how do you know it won't just end up getting worse here than whatever it is that you left behind at home?
twirlier: (Ew)

[personal profile] twirlier 2018-09-14 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That isn't selfish. It is human nature. You make it sound like there's something wrong with not returning to horrible things, or fighting to get back to their families. There's no right or wrong in that, no selfishness.

[A word she's heard, had used against her, just like so many others before even gasoline was splashed upon her.

When she speaks though, her entire body shakes, voice trembling as she takes a step back from him.]

Because before I came here, I was trapped in Hell due to being too weak to return. Because I've been burned at the stake for who I am there, but here everyone... almost everyone is fine with it, and thinks I should be free to be who I want. Why would I ever want to return to that?
