Summary: Starlight Glimmer is making poor life choices. Everyone else gets to suffer now.
The Story:

Maybe you're outside, enjoying the fall weather. Maybe you're in the kitchen, or just wandering the halls. It doesn't matter. As soon as you lay eyes on that purple pony, walking around with a cyan-glowing horn and an insufferably smug look on her face, your world will twist.

Suddenly you're on four hooves, not two feet. You have a mane. Maybe you're lucky enough to have wings, or a horn. You aren't a human now. You're a pony, your special talent emblazoned on your flank to show the world who you are.

But clearly, this is how things have always been, right? Pay no attention to your memories of hands, this is normal now.

[Lapis rolls her eyes and gives a little snort of her own. Why every path leads to Peridot insulting her she doesn't know, but her annoyance is still aimed more at the universe now.]

Still not as ridiculous as you. How about we don't go out after all.

[Screw it, trying to investigate got her nothing but humiliated and now the idea just makes her feel tired. Maybe someone'll have something on the network tomorrow.]

[slapfight]

That's... probably a good idea. [This has been a lot...] We can sleep this off and hopefully Wonderland will sort itself off.

[Peridot eyes the hammock and then looks down at her form.] ...Or you can sleep this off. You're better at getting into the hammock than I am.

[She knows darn well she'll get tangled in it and there's so much more to get tangled up with right now.]

[Lapis follows that gaze and sighs. The hammock can be a dicey proposition at the best of times, even though she has wings to cheat with. (Wait, can she still do her water wings on top of currently having actual wings? Did anyone think this through??) Besides, it's obvious that trying to force the usual arrangements to work will get nowhere, that's how this all started. No, they are quadrupeds and must live like quadrupeds.

At least it's less embarrassing if they do it together. Also, to be fair, it's not like they NEVER sleep on the floor or in the grass or in stupid positions normally. They're gems, they don't get neck cricks, they do what they want. Lapis heads instead for the room's current Corner Of Soft Things, folds her legs under her, and makes a beckoning gesture with a wing.]

C'mon.

[slapfight]

[Peridot walks the dejected walk of someone who has slept in a bathtub and had no problem with it, but =she had been in her proper form at the time, and so it's different. Still, she walks, she curls her stupid stubby horse legs underneath her, and she plants her head with her awkward triangular mane in the space between Lapis's neck and wings. Because why not? The worst that'll happen is Lapis will move.]

Maybe if we force ourselves to fall asleep, it'll just go away.

[Lapis does not move. She herself might have expected to startle a bit -- for all that they've grown more touchy-feely in Wonderland, horse gestures are technically new -- but no, that too feels more natural than it should. Cozy, even. (She can feel the movement of Peridot's muzzle when she talks, and that should definitely be weird, and yet.) She doesn't have the will to argue with that; she breathes a tolerant little huff, and the extended wing, lacking better ideas, ends up draped lightly atop Peridot's body.

Frankly, she's not even actually sure she's up for sleeping right now in the first place. But going out is off the table, a lot of usual pastimes involve hands, and there are worse places to be than a pony pile.]

You realize that would officially make this one of the least awful things that's happened here.

[Not that she's optimistic about it being true, anyway, but Wonderland sure does make you put things in perspective. Which is kind of annoying. Getting turned into a pony really shouldn't be considered a relatively good day.]

[A Lapis wing that doesn't pelt her with drops of water when she extends it over her- what a concept! Peridot is at least over the constant glee tat comes from any expression of unprompted affection from Lapis- it's normal now. So normal that she accepts it for what it is- a tender gesture that can only happen in this moment. She'll never be Steven. Her logic and rationality will never give her the ability to see the best in situations, but sometimes the math works. In this case, the math is that pony bodies are surprisingly good for cuddling.]

I never thought I'd say that about an event that changes your form, but you're right. It could be so much worse. There could be monsters.

[They seriously are. Surprisingly good for cuddling. Like... look. Physical affection isn't natively familiar to gems, so Lapis and Peridot have had to learn it, and that's under normal circumstances. In bodies that aren't quite right, with the both of them already skeeved out about it, such physicality ought to only underscore the weirdness. They may cling together for reassurance, but it shouldn't be enjoyable in itself.

Well, 'enjoy' is a strong word by Lapis's standards. Maybe it's just that after all that annoyance, anything more soothing is welcome; also, it's always possible the brainwashing magic is a factor. And it is true and genuinely worth remembering that they AREN'T in any immediate danger for once. In any case, so help her, this is already doing more to improve her mood than it has any right to, and that's also a fairly noteworthy phenomenon by Lapis standards.]

If this actually was an event, you'd be giving it ideas now.

[slapfight]

The simulation reads minds and will respond to whatever we think, regardless. It's already full of ideas. [Peridot snorts and it comes out as a kind of whinny, which surprises her so much she goes rigid for a second... and then relaxes. Only soft pony cuddles now. No reacting to the weirdness that is pony bodies.] And I hope whoever caused this is aware that they've been spared death by a brutal combination of metal and water just for it being inconvenient instead of awful.

[Shoosh, only cuddles. The wing over Peridot stretches out and snugs more firmly against her as if to pull her closer, although in reality it's not particularly large or strong and probably can't accomplish much. It's more just a nudge.]

We'll let them know. I'm sure it'll be very intimidating.

[Sarcastic enough even for Peridot, because there's simply no getting around the fact that they are adorable.]
