[ open ] for i've grown a little leaner, grown a little colder, grown a little sadder
Who: Juliet O'Hara + You
Where: Juliet's room
When: December 1st-4th
Rating: PG
Summary: Juliet is getting into the Christmas spirit early by hosting a little get-together at her place. Network video and party post below the cut!
The Story:
[ ✹ .002 [ video ] ]
Happy December, Wonderland!
[ Juliet offers a brilliant, if somewhat strained, smile to the network. The camera isn't directly aimed at her face at first--she's still getting used to video chatting--but she reaches out to adjust it quickly before continuing. ]
I know not everyone here celebrates Christmas or... Even knows what Christmas is, but! In the O'Hara household, Christmas is a big deal. I mean, I really big deal. All my family comes in and there are games, and arts and crafts, and a ton of food...
[ People probably get the idea, Juliet. ]
So! I know things always get really crazy during the holidays anyway and I wanted to get on top of things so I'm having a little pre-Christmas get together at my place. So whether or I know you or not, come by room three on the seventh floor anytime over the next few days and I promise we'll have a lot of fun. Open door policy.
[ She pauses. ]
Not literally. Knock first.
[ room 3, level 7 ]
Juliet has gone all-out for the holidays, as an O'Hara is wont to do. With no financial limits and no job to distract her, she's put everything into decorating her place. Anyone walking past room three on the seventh floor will be greeted immediately with an timely wreath and equally festive doormat.
The decorations don't stop there. Juliet has decked the halls to the point that they are bursting, having even extended her living room quite a bit to accommodate food, fun, and hopefully a lot of guests. Every wall is decorated with some kind of garland, wreath, or lights. She's even got a sprig of mistletoe hanging in the corner for any couples who visit that might be so inclined.
And, of course, there is the the Christmas tree in the corner of the living room.
Anyone who visits will also be greeted by an unimaginable spread of food from cookies, cakes, and various snacks to some traditional Scottish fare like mince pies. There's another corner table dedicated to just Christmas crafts, from cutting out paper snowflakes to sewing Holiday themed pajamas.
Maybe it's a little early to go full out, but Juliet couldn't wait. Christmas is her favorite time of year and she hopes that getting to it early will help her miss her family less - and maybe help her find a new family in Wonderland.
[ This is a party/mingle post! Feel free to top level and tag out with other people, or just thread with Juliet, or just respond to her network post if you so desire. Have fun and get into the holiday spiritbefore shit goes down! ]

Barbie & Julia | Open | Either will respond, just put in subject
So whatever, he doesn't care, he's excited and throwing himself into all of it. Food. The crafts. Singing along to the carols playing. He's excited for it all. And if he has too much eggnog, well then he might just be complimenting everyone, being happy and glad for Christmas. In Wonderland. With Julia.
Not in a damn dome.
Barbie;
"That's a unique sweater," she points out as she offers him a refill of his eggnog. "I should have planned an ugly sweater contest."
no subject
Raising his cup in toast. "This is your shindig isn't it? It's a lot of fun."
no subject
"Have you been around for a lot of the events?"
no subject
He smiles though, nodding at that, though he pauses at the question.
"A few months now. Like..." He pauses, considering that. For a moment his face screws up and then his eyes go wide. "I think it's been like... eight months now? Something like that. So yeah, Probably about a dozen or so."
It doesn't feel like that long and yet a lifetime at the same time.
no subject
Her eyes widen and she tries to hide her alarm behind a sip from her glass. Juliet is still hoping this is all some bizarre fever dream she'll wake up from.
"It seems like most people have been here for a long time."
no subject
"Honestly, it seems to have slowed down. When I came in, it was like a revolving door some days. I'm not sure what that says about whatevers behind this place though."
no subject
Which could be either a blessing or a curse. Especially for Juliet, who spends just as much time thinking about how much she wants Lassiter here as she does thinking about how much she doesn't.
no subject
"If it helps, many are looking into it, both those trying to get home, and those trying hard to make sure they don't have to return, no matter what."
no subject
She tilts her head thoughtfully.
"There are people who'd rather stay here?"
no subject
"Me and Julia, my fiancee? We don't want to go back. Life has gone really bad, and we're likely not going to both live through it so we would rather be here," he admits. "Events and all, Wonderland is not as bad."
no subject
But to know that going home is quite likely a death sentence, and to say that with such certainty? It's heartbreaking.
"I'm glad you could be here together," she offers. If nothing else, at least Wonderland did them that favor. "I hope we can figure out a way to make sure you both can stay."
no subject
"But that is something many of us are trying to do. Find the door and how to manipulate it, so those that need to get home can and those that need to stay don't end up shipped back to their deaths. Mine? Not going to be very nice," he admits, showing that he has a clue what is to come.
no subject
"Well, there is a bright side to getting the girl you love a really expensive ring," she tries, but it just doesn't come out sounding as light-hearted as she wishes it would after his admission.
no subject
Which is more calm about it than he feels, but he's trying.
"Though don't mention the cost to anyone wearing a beautiful ring and talking about her wedding. She'll kill me. I wasn't going for money but I had an image in my head for it, and got close to it from the closet."
no subject
"It will be our secret, I swear," she promises. "I hope I get an invite, though. I love weddings."
