oh, it's amazing that you're here
Who: Regina Mills & You
Where: outside + inside
When: December 8th
Rating: PG at most
Summary: Regina's been home, lived a lot of years, time traveled to before she lived out those years... time to come back to Wonderland again
The Story:
[And yes, there will be more loss, because that's just a part of life. And in the end, we can get past it all... with hope.
That last word leaves her mouth and everything changes in an instant. One second, she's at her coronation in a fabulous dress, having just been crowned and given a speech. The next, she's in Wonderland with years of memories slotting back into place.
Henry and Ella have gone home, where they can finally be happy and together without something standing in their way. It's going to be hard being here without Henry, when he was here almost as long as she was, but she can do it. She has no choice, after all.
Taking a breath, she hikes up her dress and begins heading from the checkerboard hills to the mansion itself. Sure, she could teleport but the walk will give her head time to settle, time for memories to slot firmly into place. When she reaches the gardens, she stops by the fountain to take a breath, mentally sorting through information and memories and everything else.
The climb to the eighth floor takes a while, so she's easy to disturb there, too.
Later, after she's seen Michonne and spent some quality time with her, she dresses a bit more normally - sensible pantsuits and all - and heads to the diner in an extremely good mood. For a while, she sits with a coffee and looks at the crown, lost in thought. Eventually, it gets poofed back to her room and she invites someone to sit with her if they look a little lost.
Later still, she has a book clutched under her arm, she can be found anywhere people tend to congregate. Chances are, you might get approached because she has a goal in mind - a legacy, really.]
Excuse me, we haven't met, but can I ask you something? [Or, if she does know you, instead you'll get greeted with:] I need a favour.

[It's entirely possible that a few people did find out and either kept it to themselves or were dealt with, but for them to sustain a community like that in relative plain sight... It's impressive. She wouldn't trade Storybrooke's barrier for it, but she's not going to diminish their accomplishment.]
I find it hard to believe anybody took him seriously, but I suppose the stories exist for a reason. [Speaking from experience, after all.] My world's equivalent is a young woman named Ruby, who... was also the Red Riding Hood of the tale.
[How that got translated into the popular version of the story, she'll never know.]

[He's, like, ninety per cent certain that Bigby just eats them. ]
The whole turning into a fuckin' giant wolf tends to make people less likely to fuck with him. We all remember what he was like in the Bad Old Days. [NOTHING fucked with Bigby, and that fear lives on. Smaller, now, but it's still there. It's likely why he was chosen to keep the law in the first place.] No shit? So she's like...both? The wolf and Little Red? Our Riding Hood never made it across to the mundy. Dead, far as I know.

[That was awkward. But he ended up dying for it so ehhhh.]
Do you think he's actually changed since then? [Obviously she has no idea what Bigby was like, but she knows all about people claiming to change.] That's right. The red cloak was actually keeping her from changing during the full moon, until she ate her boyfriend.
[It happens.]

[At least Fabletown is less...mobile.]
Well, I guess he's less of an asshole- but how much of that is to impress fuckin' Snow and how much is genuine? I dunno. Fucker ripped my arm off so I'm not exactly his biggest fan. [He listens to that explanation and nods. Perfect sense. ] Curse? Or a blessing? The cloak? Could go either way, what with the boyfriend eating thing and all.

[So she orphaned one little boy. She had to create personalities and backstories for everyone.
Her eyes go wide for a moment at the explanation for his missing arm.]
Whichever one it is, he clearly has some anger issues he needs to work out. Ideally before he was made sheriff. [Pot, meet kettle?] Both, I think. It kept her from hurting anybody for a long time, but it also stopped her from being able to control herself when she turned. She learned how to eventually.

[These are things Gren utterly believe in. Bigby might have done his goddamn job for once, but he's still an asshole. Can't shake THAT stink off. ]
You'd have thought, right? But no, let him run around half fuckin- rabid, why not. [He really DOES love having someone to bitch about Bigby too- it's been nearly a year and no one else knew the asshole to get PRIME Bigby Bitching in. ] Shit, well, I mean at least she got a handle on it? Still a fuckin' mess to handle, though. Poor Red.

[Regina, please.]

[He snorts at that.]
True, can't really beat the Big Bad Wolf if you wanna inspire some real fuckin' pants-wetting terror.
