Summary: As the Gryphon announced, there is an event. Everyone is now living as if one regret they formerly had no longer exists.
The Story:

Remember, you can only change one regret and your character is now an AU version of themselves in regards to how that would have changed them.

Hmm, you think so? [ Ange looks back out at the water, seemingly considering what Jolyne is saying. At least the AU hasn't really messed with her thoughts on other people, so she doesn't really see much off about how the other girl is acting. ]

It's almost like the color changes a little though! But I guess that may just be the lighting?

[ Clearly she has time for these trivial ponderings now she's gotten rid of her usual emo ones. ]

It's nice to be out here either way.

Beats being in there sometimes, that's for sure.

[It's quieter out here, she can sit out here and have her own emo ponderings sometimes. Or at least she thinks she does, not having come outside for too many of those today.]

And I've honestly never really noticed, but maybe?

[She's going to try and pay attention that more now...or until the event ends anyways.]

Being in there isn't too bad, right?

[ Awfully optimistic for you to say, Ange.. ]

I mean.. When everything is normal, anyway. I guess it gets a little scary sometimes when this place starts making monsters or other dangerous things show up all over. [ Because those situations sure are a lot more terrifying without Ange's previous experience back home. ]

[uncoils]

[Truth be told, looking at the water also reminds her of her dad, but the hell if she's going to say that.]

I don't know, sometimes those work out. Everybody needs to hit something sometimes, and monsters make a way better target than picking a fight with someone around here.

[Not that she...picks fights in Wonderland.

...AU Jolyne might've picked a fight in Wonderland.

Or a few of them during her time here.]

[ There's kind of that implication in there, huh. Ange doesn't seem disturbed or anything by it though - maybe since she has a positive impression of Jolyne anyway. She just smiles and chuckles. ]

It's just like you to say something like that. [ She tucks some hair behind her ear. ] Ah, not that I mean that in a bad way though. It's kind of cool, actually. I wish I could be as good at dealing with monsters as you are.

Not sure about that one. Yeah, it comes in handy when crap like that shows up here, but you really don't want enough experience with crazy superpowered assholes to be good at it.

[Regular Jolyne probably has thoughts along those lines too, but she might add something like "still, it's pretty cool sometimes." But she doesn't, instead just looking a little distant while talking about it.]

[ That remark makes her quiet for a moment. After all, regular Ange sure had a lot of experience with superpowered assholes and the like, but this one doesn't at all. She's trying to imagine it, but it's kind of hard when your whole life was just.. normal before showing up here. ]

Sorry. [ So she apologizes - much more easily than she usually would, since she doesn't have as much of a problem with showing emotions. There's even a hint of genuine regret on her face. ] I didn't mean to make you remember bad things. It must've been tough.

It's fine, it happens.

[She doesn't seem like she's fine, but it's okay. She's been here long enough that she's used to it by now.]

If you want, I can try and give you some pointers for dealing with stuff like that. But I think in most cases, the best way to deal with it is to just try and avoid it.

[Doesn't work for things back home, but if you can avoid the event monsters for a couple of days, it'll usually turn out okay.]

That's what I've been trying to do, yeah.

[ Since she's really not confident enough to tackle one of the monsters - whichever monster flavor it happens to be any given week - herself. Not with her own skills, anyway. But.. ]

I wouldn't mind getting some tips from you though. Just in case avoiding them or running away isn't an option sometime. I really don't want to die.

Yeah, no problem. You've got five chances here, but why risk it, right?

[She doesn't think that's something people should get used to. You don't always get extra lives, that's something any version of Jolyne probably thinks about, despite occasionally being flippant about her own mansion deaths.]

And like you said, Wonderland's not always going to give you an escape option.

[entreats]

[ Yeah, Ange would rather not die even once, even if she could come back somehow. Regular old Ange might throw her life away at the drop of a dime, but this normal one who has never even gotten close to dying would rather just avoid it altogether. ]

Thanks. You're always so nice to me.. I'm glad we're friends. [ Ange smiles, saying those words much more easily and openly genuine than she ever could have before. ]

Same here.

[She means it, she can be sullen about things at times, but it's nice having someone more upbeat like Ange to balance her out at times.]

Wonderland's a pain in the ass, but it's not something I'd want to deal with alone.

[That would really suck.]

[entreats]

Yeah.. me neither.

[ If not just since Ange doesn't like being alone in general - no matter whether it's a place where death lurks way too many times a year or just some normal surroundings, really. ]

It'd probably be enough to make anyone go crazy. I guess the fact we do get to be in touch with so many people we never would've met otherwise is just about the single upside to this place.

Yeah, there's a lot about this place that sucks, but that's one of the good things.

[She'll think on that one a little more.]

Along with the closets. And the food, that's a good one too.
