This isn't about what might have been. This is about me doing something I shouldn't have, even if it was to a scumbag.

[ Her sins don't erase his. At least she isn't a killer - at least she can convince herself of that. ]

[He tsks lightly, but still compulsively pulls out a handkerchief to wipe his hands. Never quite clean enough.]

Human lives hold value. It isn't your fault that you've been indoctrinated by malicious supernaturals.

[ She watches the action, and her mouth nearly curves into a mirthless smile. No amount of wiping will ever get all that blood off, will it? ]

[ If he did, he'd know her to be worse than indoctrinated. There's a reason her path is so intricately woven with the supernatural. Some might call it fate; others, divine. She gave up on being a normal human a long time ago. ]

[ She shoots him a look that is filled with more hate than she's ever harbored for anyone, save maybe one other person. ]

Come now. Death is a trivial thing here. Your friend is fine. You can rest easily knowing that there's been no lasting damage. To anyone, really, save the victim you abandoned.

See, that's the difference between us. It doesn't matter if death is permanent or not. What I did to you was wrong, but what you did to Claire was just as bad.

[ he sets his hands on his hips as he watches her, visibly judging. ]

People are not born good or evil. We make choices. We learn that only the strongest survive, and we choose our place in that path. It is your decision to stay here, detective. You could choose to leave.

[ she asks him why, and he gives her the faintest hint of a smile, dripping still in condescension. ]

I'm simply trying to help a fellow human. We're endangered here, after all.

I don't need your help.

[ She's half tempted to spill her secret, if nothing else just to throw it in his face. But regardless of where she came from, she's still human. As entwined as she is with Lucifer, his point still stands.

But at least she knows where she stands, too. ]

If Heaven lets in people like you, I'd rather stay in Hell.

Hm. That's a pity.

[But she's making an informed decision, despite being made aware of the risks. She's made her bed and decided to lie in it. There's nothing else that can be done for her.]
