Summary: Catch-all log for The Good Place event!
The Story:

Welcome to the Good Place! Your character, tragically, has died in their world. They might not remember how (or maybe they do!) but it’s okay either way because conveniently they have earned enough points to go to the Good Place when they die! They’ve earned a house that they have been told is perfectly suited to them (it is probably not, but who are they to question the universe?!) in an absolutely delightful and quaint little Neighborhood with a frozen yogurt shop on every block. It’s almost irritatingly perfect!

Most importantly though, someone will be living with your character. Someone very, very special - their soulmate, hand-picked from the billions on Earth! Sure, it may not be who (or even what) they expected, but this is what they’ve earned from the good life they’ve lived in your world. They deserve this! They really, truly do.

Everyone is welcome to add details to what exactly is in the Neighborhood - everyone has different standards for what constitutes an "objectively good but still mediocre" neighborhood experience, after all!

[Nageki might be bigger than the older breeds of birds but this has never stopped cats from attacking the evolved form of birds. It might not be deadly anymore but it is still a nuisance. He fastens Ange with an icy look.]

I'm not taking care of a cat, Ms. Ushiromiya.

[ Of course the cat just had to choose a bird to go and try to sit on, huh. Not to mention it's a bird that's too big for a normal sized cat to attack too..

What a morning this is. At least Ange is nice enough to try and gather the cat back up in her arms with a sigh. It doesn't exactly go easily, and the cat is still kind of struggling in her hold, but hey, at least it's not on Nageki anymore. ]

I didn't ask to take care of one either. [ And yet here she is! ]

I forgot they weren't supposed to know each other! Oh well.

[Nageki is very glad he wasn't given a pet to care for. He's going to take a few more steps away, just to be on the safe side.]

It'll probably be fine even if you don't take care of it.

[What's the worst that could really happen? It's not as if the cat will die, is it?]

Are you so sure? [ They might be in the afterlife, and technically that means that nothing should be able to die (again) here, but.. Ange really doesn't want to test it. Especially because-- ]

I really don't want to be haunted by a cat spirit for the rest of eternity.

[He isn't sure and hasn't been here long enough to see if he gets hungry or thirsty.]

Not really.

Well, I'm not about to test it then.

[ And Ange is naturally suspicious of people posing as authority or know-it-alls, especially in supernatural seeming situations, so she sure isn't going to ask someone who seems like they're in charge here instead.

She'll just have to settle for trying to wrangle the cat into staying in her arms for now. ]

This place is already weird enough.

Have you seen any other birds like me here?

[Since humans have been sentient for much longer than birds, Nageki expects the bird population to be pretty small in comparison to the humans. But so far he hasn't seen any other birds. He's starting to wonder if he was sent to the human afterlife by mistake.]

[entreats]

Not yet. [ She's pretty sure of that, since talking birds - especially talking birds the size of this one here - would stand out even in a place like this. Not to mention that she's pretty sure her cat would have forced her to draw attention to the presence of one to begin with. ]

Why, are you trying to look for other people like you?

I want to find my siblings. Finding other birds might help me find them.

[It would still take a while, but Nageki is supposed to have eternity to search. He's not even sure if all his siblings ended up together since there seems to be at most two to a house.]

[entreats]

[ It takes a slight moment, but then it clicks in Ange's head. If he's looking for his siblings in this place, then they're probably dead too, huh. If there's any pain Ange understands, it's that one, so she's at least attempting to be sensitive about it here. ]

.. Are you sure they're here? It doesn't seem like this place is big enough to have a whole lot of people in it.

If the goal is to make us happy, there ought to be some way to find each other.

[So far, he hasn't seen anything that indicated that it was possible to move on from here either.]

Yeah.. About that whole making us happy thing..

[ Ange's very tone as she says that already makes it pretty clear that she's doubtful of that claim, and she shifts a little to try and keep the cat in her arms and not let it jump back onto Nageki. ]

Let's just say it doesn't really seem like they're making a truly sincere effort.
