+ THIS is the Bad Place! - MINGLE LOG +
Who: EVERYONE
Where: The Neighborhood!
When: 4/26 - 4/30
Rating: PG-13, warn if going higher - no swearing by event law!
Summary: Catch-all log for The Good Place event!
The Story:
Welcome to the Good Place! Your character, tragically, has died in their world. They might not remember how (or maybe they do!) but it’s okay either way because conveniently they have earned enough points to go to the Good Place when they die! They’ve earned a house that they have been told is perfectly suited to them (it is probably not, but who are they to question the universe?!) in an absolutely delightful and quaint little Neighborhood with a frozen yogurt shop on every block. It’s almost irritatingly perfect!
Most importantly though, someone will be living with your character. Someone very, very special - their soulmate, hand-picked from the billions on Earth! Sure, it may not be who (or even what) they expected, but this is what they’ve earned from the good life they’ve lived in your world. They deserve this! They really, truly do.
Everyone is welcome to add details to what exactly is in the Neighborhood - everyone has different standards for what constitutes an "objectively good but still mediocre" neighborhood experience, after all!
Need more information, or maybe a soulmate? Head on over to the plot post! Prose or [Action Brackets] are both welcome!

That's not really the main problem in her place, though. The real insult to injury is the fact that it's covered in posters of all the B-movies her mother starred it and, in her bedroom, the horrible B-movie that Chloe starred it. Staring at that the rest of eternity? Not her idea of Heaven.
"And what's with all the frozen yogurt places? You're telling me they couldn't set up a single place to get a burger or a grilled cheese up here?"
no subject
"But that's awful! It's not even like you'd be able to read the finale or the beginning. Just the... penultimate adventure, never being able to reach a satisfying end. That's such a waste. It's just-just toerture"
The tiny unicorn does not fuck around when it comes to books. He would at least understand a little of her decor frustrations. He has no movie posters, but the Lia Frank unicorns are not this favourite thing ever. Unicorns just don't look like that, wow.
"Or even a fruit stand? Anything really? Why all the frozen yoghurt? Is that even popular for anypony? ...Uh, sorry- anyone."
THat feels like a familiar correction and he's not sure why.

She narrows her eyes for a moment, trying to recall the word he used but it's just... Totally gone. Shaking her head, she shrugs and moves on. That's not really the point, and neither is the missing books in the series. Class of 3001 wasn't high art by any means, but it still rubs her the wrong way.
"It's almost like... This place is taunting us by giving us the bare minimum of anything we might enjoy. And a DVD set for a soulmate? Seriously?" She might be a little fixated on that, but it's because it sucks. Chloe spent a lot of her life alone, and spending the rest of eternity being bored to death by herself is sounding less and less like Heaven. "No, something's off about this place."
no subject
That's... odd. Why does the idea of missing a word make sense though? It shouldn't. And why does he recognise it as such?
"I'm still not completely clear on what that is, but given the face you keep pulling when you talk about it, I'm gonna continue assuming that it's bad," unless that's a good face? Maybe human expressions are different than pony ones? "Hmm, it's almost like they put on a..."
Show. Like it's some sort of fake game played by some otherworldly entity that's-. He stares skyward.
"Oh noooooooooooooooooo. I think I remember what this is."
no subject
His tone doesn't help her feel any better and she looks down at him, a look of concern rushing over her face.
"What? What do you remember?"
no subject
"Does Wonderland mean anything to you?"
It was a story, on Earth- if he remembers rightly. Perhaps that will muddle things in a way that it doesn't for him. It's just a place for him. A prison, and one he remembers horribly too well now. Celestia damnit.

Chloe pauses, turning her face away to stare out at the water again. She's doing her best not think about Trixie, about how far and permanently away she is from her, and how, if this neighborhood is any indication, she might never see her again. What kind of Good Place didn't let you see the people you loved ever again?
But that isn't all, is it? There's a strange unsettling emotion that comes with her missing Trixie, like a feeling inside of a feeling. Like she's known what it's like to miss her this way before. But there isn't any reason to, she's never been away from her this long.
Except... She feels like she has.
"It's not just that, though, is it?" Chloe turns back to look at Sunburst again, her forehead creased in concern. "It's - I can't even explain it. It's like trying to remember I dream I forgot."
no subject
"I think that's the best way to describe it yes," he flicks and ear, letting out a frustrated sigh, looking back at her. "I remember now. It uses memories of the people it kidnaps- creates events like this for us to live through. That's what this is... I think."
no subject
"No, no it's not just the memories. It's the actual worlds, bumping into each other, bleeding through." She frowns again, still not entirely sure how she knows any of this, but it's coming back, little by little. "A cat told me that."
no subject
The worlds, shifting together like tectonic plates- making the occasional metaphorical earthquake. He smiles, at least glad to know he's not gone completely insane in suddenly remembering this other world. He wouldn't have been completely surprised if that were the case- he's just glad it's not.
"The cat! Yes! The one with the weird grin."
no subject
That's a little bit of a cheat, because she knows the books, but she also remembers her conversation with him more and more.
"He's kind of an ass, isn't he?"
no subject
"I think they all are, honestly, even if they might not all mean to be."
no subject
That comes out without her completely thinking and she frowns, as little by little, the picture gets clearer.
"The Mirrors." Chloe lets out a long sigh, shaking her head. "I can't believe this place screwed with our memories again."
no subject
And so, Chloe has gained herself an ally for All Time- united in hating that goddamn annoying cat. His mirth quickly fades, as another memory slots into place and ugh.
"The Mirrors. You know, I can almost forgive it playing with our memories except for them," he frowns. "I'm always worried they'll use that to their advantage one day. That we forgot them."
no subject
Chloe sighs, glancing down at her feet and realizing she's completely forgotten about the DVD set sitting next to her. She looks even more annoyed.
"Now that I know this is an event, this soulmate thing is even less funny."
She's going to die alone.
no subject
But he's pretty sure only the heat death of the universe would make his Mirror happy.
"I wouldn't read too much into it if I were you. It's just Wonderland being... Wonderland."
He's trying to make her feel better, is it working?
no subject
Chloe's Mirror was the epitome of chaotic neutral. Chloe would have preferred her to just be evil.
His support isn't really working, but it is enough to earn him an affectionate smile. It's nice of her to try.
"This is kind of strange, though. I've never been in an event that changed our memories but we still remembered. Usually, we're clueless until the end." Her smile fades into concern. "Something tells me that can't be good."
no subject
It's way less fun when your Mirror is plain old evil, Chloe. It's like, the worst. You never know what they're going to do next.
"Hmmm, that's a very good point. It's never been so... wishy washy before," he rubs the back of his head with a forehoof. "Perhaps things are changing around here. I can't imagine losing a Queen did much to keep everything here stable. Maybe it's finally starting to crumble."
no subject
Just because they aren't beholden to spying on their Reals anymore didn't mean they like them. Or like living in the black and white world they are trapped in.
The Mirrors seem like the least of their worries at the moment, though.
"That can either be really good for us or really, really bad." What would it mean if Wonderland collapsed? Would they all be sent home? Or would that particular mechanism be damaged too, leaving them to whatever fate came next?
no subject
And he doubts it's going to something as innocuous as a chess match, next time. Oh no. With the Jabberwock lose, it's likely heading towards a proper war. The kind that would result in casualties.
That was, of course, only if the Jabberwock didn't get to them first.
"Very true. I'd rather we know exactly how to escape this place before that happens. Just in case."
