+ Why, you're only a sort of thing in its dream! | MINGLE LOG +
Who: EVERYONE (Reals AND Mirrors!)
Where: D R E A M S I D E
When: June 6th - June 12th
Rating: PG-13, warn if going higher!
Summary: Mingle log for the Dream Side event! After the girls’ seance, every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing at the time, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual.
The Story:
After the girls’ seance, every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing at the time, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual. Elements may seem familiar, but it's clearly a different place.
Welcome, Mirrors and Reals, to DREAM SIDE. The sky above is dark and speckled with far-off stars but the world below is unnaturally lit and bright. There is a mansion at its center, but it is warped and unusual, as though someone stretched it like taffy, but if you try to enter it, you'll find that the door is not just locked - it appears to be painted on, as though it is just static scenery. It isn't a mansion that can be entered, just a cartoon-ish mansion cobbled together from dozens of memories.
Dream Side, as you might have guessed from the name, is not a static place. It is built from the scraps of dreams of those who cross into that side of Wonderland. Characters on this side of Wonderland are not asleep, but the world they are in is shaped by the contents of their dreams. Unlike the glass between Real Side and Mirror Side, there does not seem to be an obvious thing connecting this Side of Wonderland to the other two - at least, not something visible.
They are not alone in this world either - because the girls were conducting a seance, they have inadvertently called upon the dead. For each time your character has died a mansion death, there will be a ghostly copy of them wandering Dream Side. They will look as standard ghosts do - pale and translucent, looking as they did the moment they died. They will have a tendency to haunt their current living version (and those who care about them), but they will not be able to speak directly with them. For Mirrors, these ghosts can be Unmade versions of themselves, if they were ever Unmade. Some ghosts might be hostile and some might just gently haunt from a distance - it will depend on the character and what they would do if they were a ghost how they behave.
Behold, the world your dreams have built!

D, rokkenjima
It's during that time that she spots Souji wandering the halls. Usually she might have gone about this in a slightly better way that wouldn't just spook him more, but the paranoia fuels impulsive action - and Ange's impulsive action is to just suddenly reach out from the room she was hiding in, latch her hand onto his wrist, and pull him inside without saying a word in case whatever is out there might hear her. She's trying to help him hide, after all, not make both of them be found by that thing.
She probably doesn't even realise in the moment just how startling it'd be to have someone suddenly grab you and pull you over like that. ]
no subject
What are you doing?
no subject
[ At least Ange is keeping her tone fairly hushed, despite there being more emotion in it than usually. She definitely sounds tense, although she's releasing her hold on him the moment he's safely in the room with her. ]
Anyone can spot you if you're not walking around the halls like that.
no subject
Who do you think is there?
[He's got the same paranoid feeling as her by now, but doesn't have a name to put to it yet. If she has a more concrete idea of what's causing it, he's all ears.]
no subject
[ She starts sounding actually pretty convinced, but it drops from her tone fairly quickly as she casts a more uncertain glance in the direction of the door. ]
I don't know. It probably has to be something from Wonderland, right? It.. It can't be something from back home. [ But even though she says "can't", there's definitely something in her tone that indicates it's more like she just doesn't want it to be that. ]
no subject
[He's quite curious about the place. Well, he's been curious about every place he's visited, he can't help that, but the big portrait in the hall is very enigmatic.]
no subject
Just without the people. [ But then again, most of the places she has seen here have been mostly empty. It just makes it feel more eerie at this point. ]
no subject
Should there be a lot of people?
[It's a big place, it would fit a lot of people. And with it empty, it would be easy to imagine someone there just out of sight.]
no subject
[ At the very least some of her family should be living here for most of the year. But however Wonderland - or whatever caused this - manages to conjure this place up, it seems it left out the people entirely. ]
And I can't shake the feeling that the dangers of this place are still around. [ It's a little more candid of an admission than Ange would usually make, but she feels too frayed to care right now. ]
no subject
[This line of questioning is helping to distract him from his own feeling of being stalked by some kind of predator, so he keeps it up. It's a good opportunity to get to know her better, but that's secondary in his mind.]
no subject
.. Can you still use your powers?
[ That might give her at least a tiny bit of peace of mind between the feeling of dread. ]
no subject
I think so. I haven't tried, but I can hear my Personas, anyway, and that usually means I can use them without any trouble.
no subject
[ Since she's pretty much defenseless, as much as Ange hates admitting that.
It's probably why she looks really hesitant before speaking up again. ] Would you.. mind staying here for a bit?
[ She doesn't like asking for help, hence why she usually never does it, but this constant feeling of dread has worn her down enough to a point where she can't help it. ]
no subject
It might not be safe to move around too much, anyway.
no subject
[ Who's to say. Without knowing what the threat is, it could be capable of anything. At least Ange manages to keep most of the anxiety she's feeling out of her voice. ]
no subject
[Moving around might be dangerous, but yeah, if something already knows they're there, then staying might be just as dangerous.]
no subject
Do you want to try that?
no subject
[He glances at her, then at the door.]
I should be able to protect us well enough to give us time to run for it.
no subject
.. Alright. [ It's not like she has too much of a choice in this situation regardless, considering she's powerless, but she at least trust him enough when he says that. ] I think there's one place here that might be safer than the others. We should run to the second floor for that.
no subject
You lead the way. I'll be right behind you.
no subject
Let's go then.
[ She has to suck in a deep breath to steel herself, but she manages to shove the constant dread far enough back into her head that she can will herself to start moving-- no, running through the hallway. Then up the stairs in the main hall, then up another set.. Ange glances behind her to make sure he's still there, but then halts next to a big door - a slight bit out of breath, but not too much. ]
In here.
no subject
He comes to a stop just behind her at the door, and nods, looking back the way they came to make sure nothing followed them. He reaches to pull the door open.]
What is this room?
no subject
[ It seems like a very spacious bedroom and study combination. There's a bed, sure, but there's also big bookcases and a chessboard in the room. ]
The witch supposedly can't enter here, although I'm not sure I believe that. [ But it's better than nothing. ]
no subject
The witch?
[Ange's mentioned witches before, or at least magical beings, but Souji doesn't have the details.]
no subject
Ange nervously fidgets for a moment before sitting down on a chair next to the chessboard in an attempt to seem a little calmer. ]
She's what killed my family here. Those other creatures were just doing her dirty work. [ She looks away for a moment and sighs. ] Guess being here won't do much though if whatever is after us isn't her.
[ But honestly, what else would make her this instinctively nervous? ]
