+ Why, you're only a sort of thing in its dream! | MINGLE LOG +

Who: EVERYONE (Reals AND Mirrors!)
Where: D R E A M S I D E
When: June 6th - June 12th
Rating: PG-13, warn if going higher!
Summary: Mingle log for the Dream Side event! After the girls’ seance, every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing at the time, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual.
The Story:

After the girls’ seance, every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing at the time, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual. Elements may seem familiar, but it's clearly a different place.

Welcome, Mirrors and Reals, to DREAM SIDE. The sky above is dark and speckled with far-off stars but the world below is unnaturally lit and bright. There is a mansion at its center, but it is warped and unusual, as though someone stretched it like taffy, but if you try to enter it, you'll find that the door is not just locked - it appears to be painted on, as though it is just static scenery. It isn't a mansion that can be entered, just a cartoon-ish mansion cobbled together from dozens of memories.

Dream Side, as you might have guessed from the name, is not a static place. It is built from the scraps of dreams of those who cross into that side of Wonderland. Characters on this side of Wonderland are not asleep, but the world they are in is shaped by the contents of their dreams. Unlike the glass between Real Side and Mirror Side, there does not seem to be an obvious thing connecting this Side of Wonderland to the other two - at least, not something visible.

They are not alone in this world either - because the girls were conducting a seance, they have inadvertently called upon the dead. For each time your character has died a mansion death, there will be a ghostly copy of them wandering Dream Side. They will look as standard ghosts do - pale and translucent, looking as they did the moment they died. They will have a tendency to haunt their current living version (and those who care about them), but they will not be able to speak directly with them. For Mirrors, these ghosts can be Unmade versions of themselves, if they were ever Unmade. Some ghosts might be hostile and some might just gently haunt from a distance - it will depend on the character and what they would do if they were a ghost how they behave.

Behold, the world your dreams have built!

[Kokichi grumbles a bit.] Wow, isn't that the plot twist of the century?

[He shoves his hands in his pockets and pouts.]

[The Dormouse is not moved.]

It's your own fault for not having better questions. If you focus on something that can't be answered, you'll never get anything that way.
shslliar: (Eeeeeh.)

[... Good advice, tho.] Okay, sorry my first priority was an escape and you can't help us...

It's not like there's that Jabberwocky thing running around trying to eat us all.

[He chooses to blatantly ignore that sarcasm.]

Oh, of course there is. It's never gone for good, after all. The Jabberwock is always lurking somewhere.
shslliar: (You don't say...)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-06-16 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Cool. That means Kokichi gets interested in what the Dormouse just said.]

Wait... So you can't actually kill it?
dreamsoftreacle: (...Why a coconut?)

[personal profile] dreamsoftreacle 2019-06-17 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Not quite. It can be slain with the Vorpal Sword, but once it is slain it returns here to regain its strength.

[And it has done so over and over and over again.]
shslliar: (Oh gross.)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-06-17 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[. . . Wait.]

So, since we're all stuck here, that means...

... What does that thing eat again?
dreamsoftreacle: (In your face)

[personal profile] dreamsoftreacle 2019-06-20 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
[The Dormouse laughs.]

What doesn't eat?
shslliar: (Had it up to here with you...)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-06-20 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Wha...

[Okay, this is getting creepy.]

... Ugh, you're not working with that thing, are you?
dreamsoftreacle: (...Why a coconut?)

[personal profile] dreamsoftreacle 2019-06-20 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Me? No, certainly not. The Jabberwocky works for itself and only for itself. It's a force to be reckoned with.

[The thought is silly to the Dormouse - comparable to asking someone if they were working with a hurricane or a typhoon.]
shslliar: at the end (As long as you'll be my friend)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-06-22 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Typhoons don't pretend to be dead people. That's why he asked.]

Okay. Just wanted to make sure.

And the only thing that can kill it is the vorpal blade? No other weaknesses?
dreamsoftreacle: (In your face)

[personal profile] dreamsoftreacle 2019-06-23 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. The Vorpal Sword can slay it, the Vorpal Shield can defend against it, and the Vorpal Yarn can repair its damage. Aside from that, it's entirely unstoppable. It gains the properties of what it eats, so if you go up against it with a normal sword and it eats it, its claws might get sharper for example.

[Just one of many potential possibilities.]
shslliar: (Oh crud)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-06-23 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
... It had the vorpal yarn.

[Guess who might have had a conspiracy theory proven right?]
dreamsoftreacle: (...Why a coconut?)

[personal profile] dreamsoftreacle 2019-06-24 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh? That's not good.

[Spoken with all the lack of enthusiasm of Willy Wonka.]
shslliar: (My thoughts are lost in confusion)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-06-24 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
You know what that means, right?

[What is this, a chocolate factory tour?]
dreamsoftreacle: (In your face)

[personal profile] dreamsoftreacle 2019-06-30 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
[A treacle factory would be better, probably.]

It could mean a lot of things, really. But I suspect you're thinking of one in particular?
shslliar: (How dare you insult me!)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-07-01 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
It means the Jabberwock had the means to heal itself while it had the thread! If I were that thing, and I just fooled everyone to get my hands on something that could fix me, then I would have used it while no one was looking! That's what happened, right?
dreamsoftreacle: (...Why a coconut?)

[personal profile] dreamsoftreacle 2019-07-05 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
It certainly seems possible. I suppose you should hope it doesn't still have any or it will never be slain again.

[You can't very well slay something that will only heal itself after all.]
