+ Why, you're only a sort of thing in its dream! | MINGLE LOG +
Who: EVERYONE (Reals AND Mirrors!)
Where: D R E A M S I D E
When: June 6th - June 12th
Rating: PG-13, warn if going higher!
Summary: Mingle log for the Dream Side event! After the girls’ seance, every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing at the time, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual.
The Story:
After the girls’ seance, every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing at the time, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual. Elements may seem familiar, but it's clearly a different place.
Welcome, Mirrors and Reals, to DREAM SIDE. The sky above is dark and speckled with far-off stars but the world below is unnaturally lit and bright. There is a mansion at its center, but it is warped and unusual, as though someone stretched it like taffy, but if you try to enter it, you'll find that the door is not just locked - it appears to be painted on, as though it is just static scenery. It isn't a mansion that can be entered, just a cartoon-ish mansion cobbled together from dozens of memories.
Dream Side, as you might have guessed from the name, is not a static place. It is built from the scraps of dreams of those who cross into that side of Wonderland. Characters on this side of Wonderland are not asleep, but the world they are in is shaped by the contents of their dreams. Unlike the glass between Real Side and Mirror Side, there does not seem to be an obvious thing connecting this Side of Wonderland to the other two - at least, not something visible.
They are not alone in this world either - because the girls were conducting a seance, they have inadvertently called upon the dead. For each time your character has died a mansion death, there will be a ghostly copy of them wandering Dream Side. They will look as standard ghosts do - pale and translucent, looking as they did the moment they died. They will have a tendency to haunt their current living version (and those who care about them), but they will not be able to speak directly with them. For Mirrors, these ghosts can be Unmade versions of themselves, if they were ever Unmade. Some ghosts might be hostile and some might just gently haunt from a distance - it will depend on the character and what they would do if they were a ghost how they behave.
Behold, the world your dreams have built!

I guess I can't do it... That's okay, though.

[She looks at M'Lapis hopefully.]
no subject
[tbh M'Lapis doesn't really get that question or why anyone would ask it of her. Oh well. Since deep thoughts are awkward and kinda lame, that's as good a cue as any to get down to business. Although of course she's pretty sure she knows what to expect from this too.]
So, who're you?
no subject
[She has to think for a minute about how to refer to herself.]
I'm Entrapta's Mirror. I guess...you can call me Entrapta, too? That would be fine...
no subject
[There are lots of Lapis Lazulis, it's not even actually a NAME. That part should really just be business as usual.
All at once M'Lapis has gained a bit of a sharper edge, despite herself. Not precisely a hostile one, though, so it's fine. This is absolutely what she expected, since she does pay attention. Entrapta's Mirror is no more impressive in person than as she was described, but it's interesting to be in this position with her, sizing her up and speculating on possibilities.]
no subject
[Even she's smart enough to realize that means M'Lapis has already heard of her.]
Did you already know about me?
no subject
no subject
[She considers, then nods, smiling shyly.]
I try to be. Entrapta made it sound important, anyway.
no subject
It must be, if somebody asked me to keep an eye on you. Did you know about that?
[M'Lapis sure loves asking questions she already knows the answers to. It's a thing.]
no subject
[She looks uncertain now.]
Who asked? Why?
[Did she do something wrong? :(]
no subject
[As careful as she is to leave some ambiguity, it's still more or less accurate, for the record. Peridot only proposed the idea that Mirror Entrapta could use some protection, but also cheerfully agreed that watching her for any possible betrayal was a good idea too. And those still weren't the entire motivation either, as M'Lapis understands it. As for her motivations, she's happier feeling them out as she goes.]
no subject
I don't know if I'm nice, but I didn't do anything wrong, did I?
no subject
Don't worry, I'm sure you didn't. Your buddies over there just want to make sure you stay safe. If you really are helping them with something that important... anyone would want to protect their investments, right?
no subject
That's good, I guess. [She doesn't sound so sure.] Are you supposed to make sure I stay safe?
no subject
no subject
[Yes. Probably.]
No, I don't think so.
no subject
Then I guess we'll just have to hang out like normal people.
no subject
[She looks rather pleased.]
Um...why are you staying in here? It's kind of creepy.
no subject
[The poor tragic answering machine has kind of faded into the background... in fact, it literally has faded a lot, since M'Lapis has the most influence over the scene and all of her interest has moved elsewhere. On cue, it does its best to crank out another cheerful little jingle, still intruded upon by snippets of someone else's sad backstory.]
And for the snacks. Want any? [She has a good-sized and varied pile of candy, her tastes being pretty similar to those of a child really.]
no subject
Can I?
[She shouldn't ask, since it's been offered, but she wants to be extra sure before she takes anything.]
I don't think I've eaten things like this. Not in my own life.
no subject
no subject
These are good!

no subject
[It takes her a minute to process.]
Oh. Because Gems aren't really people.
[She absolutely does not mean this in an insulting way.]
