Who: Patchouli Knowledge & Lelouch Lamperouge

Summary: After a short conversation between Patchouli and Lelouch, Lelouch agrees that if the chance comes, he would take Patchouli to visit his homeworld. Now that chance has come, and they're taking it.

the Story:

Honestly, Lelouch was a little frightened by the thought of returning home. One reason was because he didn't expect the chance to come so soon, although he wanted to go back. The second reason was because he couldn't image how "home" was after his forced departure. He sat in his computer chair, staring outside the window that he and Patchouli were soon going to go through, voices of the world beyond it clouding his thoughts. When this got boring - and somewhat annoying - he turned his head slightly to the opposite side and exchanged glances with the door, waiting for his guest to arrive. The door was left unlocked, so entering wasn't the problem. It was the concept getting out of the room - out of the mansion - that had his mind jumbled up.

"...I see. This means that first I'll have to find what, in particular, I want to know perhaps... a little more about what has happened here. I'd like to know why they did it... if it was more than just some ridiculous quest for power... if there's something more... and, I guess I want to know..." Her voice became a bit more quiet. "...I want to know who took them away from you." She wondered how Lelouch would convince these others to speak to them...

"Since I haven't been here for a while, I don't know the complete details. I could ask Shirley or the others more about it later," actually, Lelouch knew completely what was going on. He - or Zero, to be more precise - was the current topic, he guessed and how Zero was brought down and apparently, killed, "as for Britannia, I can't think of any other reason but power. To be technical, they did it for the sakuradite that was her in Japan. They could have taken all they wanted - I don't see why they had to leave the country in destruction afterwards." His tone of voice was slowly becoming more bitter, recalling his memories of his father and how his mother was killed and how Nunally was injured. However, he calmed himself down and quietly muttered - more to himself than to Patchouli - the answer to Patchouli's last statement, "...so do I..."

She held Lelouch a little closer and gave him a slight hug, in that sort of sibling-like way, the sympathetic "I understand" sort of way. "Maybe we'll find out," she said. With every word her fury grew, though she wasn't about to make this obvious. She wanted to kill whoever was responsible for this, but she didn't know how much help that would really provide.

Lelouch was surprised by the hug, but didn't pull away, and neither did he hug back. He simply stood there and couldn't fathom why Patchouli, who he met just a few days ago, would want to give him such a sencere sign of worry and comfort. Lelouch had a hunch that his father was responsible for his mother's death - but he didn't know who exactly had killed her. He wasn't about to let Patchouli know this, however. He hated his father enough to want to kill him over and over again but he had no reason to drag Patchouli into his hatred as well - unless she wanted to be dragged in, of course, then he had no objections. And suddenly, all of his bitterness went away, being reminded of Patchouli's presence, and it was replaced by a certain sadness along with happiness because this time he had a true ally - he had a friend.

"We'll find them," Patchouli said, letting go of Lelouch. "We can make them pay... Those who would take so much from one person deserve nothing." She was quite willing to help Lelouch with any of this, as necessary.

To Patchouli's declaration, Lelouch said nothing and simply nodded in acknowledgement. It wasn't that he wasn't thankful she wanted to help, it was just the fact that he didn't know exactly what to say to respond to what she said. And so, he felt a need to change topics, not wanting to further expand on his past.

"My room isn't at all interesting enough to stick around. We could go and explore now, if you'd like..?" Lelouch offered, turning to the door - he was more eager to leave the room than he thought he was. His room was too empty and being reminded what it missing only brought him regret.

Patchouli nodded and turned to the door. She understood about not wanting to speak much of the past; Patchy didn't much want to reveal her past so much as she had. Then, she didn't mind, in the end. She was quite interested in this world, and how much could she expect to gain from Lelouch without giving a little?

"Yes," she said, "I think we should get out of here rather quickly. This is becoming rather uninteresting, and I understand what emotions it must evoke..." She stopped talking; she would probably just end up causing more pain if she didn't.

Lelouch continued out of the room door. He was supposed to be giving a tour of Area 11 and he wasn't doing a good job. Although, he didn't think there was that much to see - Area 11 was much more beautiful when it was called Japan.

"Did you have anywhere in mind that you wanted to go? I know Ashford like the back of my hand, but if you want to go outside of school grounds, I have to ask Rivalz to take (drive) us there." Part of Lelouch didn't want to bump into Rivalz either - if he was still here - because it would be a bother to do so. However, the other part of him didn't really mind because he wanted to see how much Area 11 had changed while he was gone.

"Well, in that case," she said, "showing me around the school should suffice for now." She knew for a fact that she might want to meet some of these people, but to keep Lelouch away from too many others who might interrupt others. "Some of the students mights be of use, but that's not the point..."

"The students here who probably know the most are my...friends. They're in the student council as well and should be ontop of everything going on here. We could go visit them now, if you would like to," Lelouch couldn't avoid them forever. He would get yelled at by Millay one way or another and she would find a way to find him no matter where he hid, "however, if Shirley couldn't see you, I can't guarantee anyone else will. I can ask your questions for you, if that happens." Since their worlds were different, Lelouch had his doubts that there would be any information regarding Patchouli's world here, but if she wanted to know more about Area 11 and its history as Japan, that would not be too difficult to reveal.

[[It could be worse, dearie~]]

"Well, in that case... we should go visit them; hopefully they won't give us too much trouble." She stayed a little optimistinc about this; it was the least she could do, right? No sense getting worried ...

"Well, I'm sure I could modify that, somewhat." She didn't know if the others could hear them, and it didn't seem so, but she had illusion magic she could use to at least appear to them, right?

"Aa, I want to know a little more about what's going on, too." Lelouch swiftly turned around on his heels and headed out the door, holding it open for Patchouli.

Once the two were out in the hallway, he made his way to the Student Council room. Even though he had been gone for God knows how long, he hadn't forgot the school corridors and which turns were where. He was worried that no one but himself could see her, because it would make some setbacks now, but he was re-assured by Patchouli's "plan", whatever it was. He didn't bother asking, because he knew the answer would come in time.

They reached the room in no time, "All right, Patchouli. Try to keep a low profile if they don't notice you...I don't want the President flinging around her random accusations at me about kidnapping a woman," Lelouch opened the door and took a step in. In front of the two stood the student council, not really working at all, except the President who was unpacking a couple of boxes - fireworks, he guessed, "I'm back, President."

Fortunately, Patchouli was quite skilled with quickly engineering spells. She quickly completed her spell and put it to use. To others, she would appear to be there, but simultaneously it would not be powerful enough to make someone accurately believe that the girl existed; to them it would probably just be an image, existing halfway between dimensions -- and auditory signals would be just as inhibited. "Well, it's not going to do much," she told Lelouch, "but I can communicate with them a little. I don't know if it'll hold out long, but you'll still have to be my voice, because they won't be able to hear mine." She entered, still a bit close to Lelouch. "This is the best I can do, at the moment." Rather a shame, she thought.

She turned to the President. She would speak, but knew that this would not help at all. She was slightly disappointed, but what could be done?
