Summary:Sirius and Terra go on a very serious candlelit dinner on the beach
the Story:

Sirius made his way up the stairs to Terra's room as the first rays of sun started to disappear from the horizon. Evening dinner on the beach was what he had promised, and he refused to disappoint. Terra was an amazing girl. Something he had known when he had started into this. They'd had a fantastic time when they had been drunk, and he had wanted to know more about her.

Then he discovered Beast Boy and his insencere feelings. How he had wanted to be with two people at once. Terra was worth more then that and anyone who treated her as someone that insignificant should be hanged. Or at least petrified for a good three months. That was how this had started at least. Now he wasn't quite sure where it was. He liked Terra. He wanted her to be amazingly happy, and he wanted to be able to be the person to make her happy. He just wasn't sure how. Still, he'd figure out how, and in the process they'd have fun.

When he arrived at her door he knocked lightly, adjusting his coat while he waited.

He couldn't help but laugh with her. The girl had one hell of an infectious laugh. "See, now that's why I gave you shorts too."

"I am a big fan of the shorts," she agreed, sitting up enough to try to shake the sand out of her hair... and onto Sirius.

"Thought you migh b- HEY!" He started picking up big handfuls of sand and dumping them on her. "Let's see how you like that then."

She yelped again and then remembered - Duh, Terra. She concentrated for a moment and all the sand on her flew at Sirius.

Sirius covered his eyes so the sand didn't go in it. "I'm pretty sure that's cheating at this point." But he was obviously not upset since he was laughing.

She giggled at him. "How about if we make a sand castle instead. No powers, I promise." She held her hands up in a gesture of surrender, grinning.

He pulled himself up to a sitting position and leaned over her lap, shaking out his hair onto her. "Sure, sounds good to me."

She spluttered and shook her head hard, sending sand flying. "You never stop, do you?" she asked, though she was still grinning as she said it. "Okay, here, look. Help me make a flat spot to build on." She started scraping the sand in front of her down flat.

He moved around to the other side and started pulling sand away, smoothing the sand as he pulled. He'd never made a sand castle the muggle way before. In fact, he'd never made a sand castle before.

Terra had made a ton of sandcastles. When she was still out wandering on her own, beaches had been one of her favorite places to spend her time. That was actually one of the ways she'd been working on her fine motor control with her powers lately - using them to build sandcastles. But she'd promised not to use them this time, so as soon as the ground was smoothed out she started very carefully piling sand into a tower.

Sirius mimicked her actions, though his didn't really look like he knew what he was doing. "Like this then?" He was concentrating very hard, his brows creased and his upper teeth biting his lower lip a little.

She glanced up at him and had to stifle a giggle. He looked like he was trying really hard. It was kind of adorable. "Yeah, that's good," she said, amusement clear in her tone. Her own tower was already fully formed and she was beginning to put parapets on it.

Sirius was still working on the shape. This was fun to muggles? Well, he supposed it was challenging. He grabbed a handful of sand and tossed it at her. "Hey, no giggling. I've never made a muggle castle before."

"Awww, poor Sirius, really?" she asked as she dodged the majority of the sand. She really did feel bad for him. Sandcastles were one of the best things about summer, in her opinion.

"Yeah. We tend to use magic for most everything where I come from." He'd finally gotten the tower up and was following with the parapets.

"How does that work, exactly?" Terra asked curiously as she started on her second tower. She'd seen him and the other wizards in the Mansion use magic before, but she didn't understand the mechanics of it.

"What? Building a sand castle with magic. You just cast spells." He didn't quite catch the whole of the picture she was asking about.

"No, I mean--" she paused while she carefully dug little windows into the side of her tower. "Explain magic," she finished, sitting back and looking up at him.

He paused in his parapet building. "Magic's ... well, it's something you're born with, and not everyone's born with it. It's a sort of grab bag thing. Going to school is sort of a way to learn how to control it, but you can cast without a wand. Less focused and things, but it's happened before."

"Hunh. Okay." She thought about that for a second. "That sounds a lot easier than having superpowers."

"Don't know, I've never had superpowers. Though sometimes when the professors talk about the future and how we're going to be the front line against Voldamort ..." He realized he was rambling, getting into a topic he didn't want to think about let alone talk about. "Tell me about this muggle sandcastle building. What do I do after this parapet is finished?"

She snickered softly. "Make more towers? Start on a main building? Whatever you think'd look cool." She waved her hands at the beginnings of the castle. "You can't plan 'em. I mean, people do, they have competitions and stuff, but personally I think it's more fun if you just do whatever you think of first." As she spoke, she started to build a little wall between her two towers.

Sirius was starting on his next tower. He was getting better at it actually. This was was raised faster then the other.

"See?" She grinned at him. "Very easy." She'd finished her wall and moved around to get into the middle of all the towers to start on a big central building.

"I think I see why muggles like doing this. It's challenging." He was still concentrating hard as he tried to etch stonework into one of his towers. Really, he just wanted to see if he could.
