Deck the halls with Phobias~

Who: Cheshire and Gilbert, then later Vincent
Where The hallway
When: Dec. 21
Rating: pg-13 for possible language
Summary: Gil decides to take a walk to go see Oz, until he runs into Cheshire and past a wreath.
the Story:

To say the last few days were a surprise was an understatement. On the one hand Oz was back and he didn't have to worry about his master being safe for the time being. Then there was the negative hand...first was Cheshire (why the hell did he have to come here?) and then Vincent...who seemed to be staying in his room now too. Gil had thought about just going and curling up in a corner, but opted for a walk instead. Maybe he could go see Oz that would make his day better...a lot better.

Briskly walking down the new decorated halls, not sure what was going on with that, he really didn't pay much mind where he was going. His only focus was on the last of his cigarettes between his lips. If anyone wanted to get on his case about it he felt he deserved one after his week so far.

Cheshire was confused by the place especially with the knowledge that there was another him lurking somewhere. Having been contacted by the Hatter hadn't made things better as he no longer had control over him and he'd have to keep his guard up.

He'd decided to go explore the place as he curiously looked at the decorations that the place had suddenly exploded in.

"What is all the fuss with the colors and bells?" He didn't mind the bells so much as his own bells that were connected to his scarf jingled with each move he made.

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheshire was brought from his curious gazing at the decorations at the stuttering from the man in front of him. His lips split into a almost malicious grin as he moved to circle Raven.

"Raven always stutters around Cheshire." His tail swished as his long claws clicked on the floor.

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheshire cocked his head from side to side as an ear twtiched listening.

"Yes Cheshire is a cat, and Raven is afraid of cats." He moved closer, before getting right up in his face and sniffing.

"You are an odd one Raven."

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheshire's tail swished back and forth and he simply moved with Gilbert aiming to knock him on his ass and use him as a seat.

"Cheshire thinks you are."

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheshire paid no attention to the wreath as he sat right in Gilberts lap his tail swishing and a sly grin on his face.

"Cheshire is right, is he not."

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheshire was enjoying his prey as it seemed Gil was to pertified to even push him off. However, that enjoyment quickly changed to anger as ribbon wrapped around one of his paws.

He hissed and tried to slash at it only to have more ribbon dart out and grab his other claw.

"What is this?!"

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Cheshire slashed left and right as he attempted to get rid of the ribbon, not caring if Gil was in the way or not.

"Cheshire doesn't like this! Get it off!"

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
The ribbon finally subdued Cheshire's feeble attempts at trying to free himself and before he knew it he found himself attached..no hugging Gil as the ribbon wrapped them tightly together and ended in a bow.

"Get off me you stupid Raven!" He struggled but to no avail, letting loose hisses as his tail twitched annoyingly.

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Vincent had heard them from the other end of the hallway, where he had been passing by in his investigation of the mansion, and stopped dead in his tracks. And blinked.

What he saw was quite alarming: seeing a twitching, flailing mass of both his brother and Cheshire, being tied nicely together into a bow.

He made his way to the two and realized his brother had passed out. He sighed and turned his eyes to the other. "Cheshire." It was curt, and his eyes were not particularly understanding. He did not miss the scratch on his brother's face. "What in heaven's name are you doing to my brother?"

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
As if the hatter and Raven weren't bad enough. Cheshire immediately stopped his struggling at the site of Vincent, his tail bristling as he hissed loudly.

"You!" He didn't care if Raven was attached or not as he jumped back into a crouched position with Raven firmly tied to his back.

"You are the cause of everything!"

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Vincent sighed. "I care little for what your personal opinion of me is. My only concern is the unconscious person strapped to your back. In this place, you have no reason to attack anyone."

He doubted the cat would respond well to this method of handling, in spite of himself, who was acting irrationally on his rage.

"I don't want anything from you. I merely want to untie the two of you before my brother is hurt further." And that was the truth. He had already deduced that there was nothing else to gain from fighting with Cheshire here in Wonderland. Conflict with him at this point would be pointless. Rather, it could be destructive to do so.

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Cheshire only hissed in response. There was no way he'd let his guard down around the very person who stabbed our his eyes those many years ago.

"Cheshire doesn't trust you!" Without another word he darted away as fast as he could with the extra weight on his back down the hallway. He'd figure out how to get Raven off himself, but he'd never allow Vincent to get that close.

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
This, he had expected, although he really hated to do it.

And so we see the game of cat and mouse reversed, as Vincent took off after the can in order to save his brother. By making use of his long legs, his knowledge of the hallways, and the fact that Cheshire was currently slowed down by the weight of an extra person, he managed to catch up, although he was worse for the wear when he did, rather out of breath and disheveled.

"Hasn't this gone on long enough?" He said, not bothering to try and cover up his labored breathing. After all, it was a miracle he had caught up at all.

"If you don't trust me, that's fine. But you should believe this - I wouldn't do anything as careless and needlessly violent in front of my brother."

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Cheshire hissed and lashed out at Vincent with a paw he'd managed to get free from the ribbon confines. He backed up his tail three times the size it should be refusing to let Vincent get close.

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
One day, the enemies he made would threaten to get in the way of his plans. Vincent saw this coming. He was thinking, racking his brain for a suitable plan. A way to make this work out. The thought of tossing the scissors at the loosened ribbon ends occurred to him. But that had potential dangers, considering he was using it on a hostile, agile target.

Ah, but wait.

"So... It's fine if I help you as long as I don't come near you, yes?"

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Cheshire's tail twitched as he kept a safe distance between the two. His bell jingled with each step he took as the long scarf drug on the ground.

He cocked his head at Vincent's question wondering what the man was up too.

"Cheshire will not let you get near.."

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
"And I will not." Vincent grinned. "In fact, there's only one piece of simple advice I can give you from all the way over here."

He pointed one gloved finger at the paw that had lashed out at him earlier and smiled. "And that is: rather than lash out at me, why not just tear it yourself."

"Without attacking my brother this time, if you will." If he needed them, the scissors in his pocket could double as a throwing knife, and it was a known fact that Vincent's aim was nothing short of perfect.

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Cheshire's eyes never left Vincent but he did move his claw to slash at the offending ribbons, causing Gil's limp form to flop onto the ground unceremoniously. Once free'd of the ribbon Cheshire backed away from the two the bell around his neck jingling now that it was free from the ribbon confines.

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
His eyes flashed to the bell around Cheshire's neck. Internally, his thoughts were all over the place. Quite a mess. The situation had changed, now that he knew that the cat possessed that bell here with him. Even if this was another realm entirely, he would not be able to ignore that object.

"It seems you and I will have to meet again another time." Vincent said coolly, bending down to inspect Gilbert for any further injuries, happy to see that there were none. Albeit a bit clumsily, he lifted his brother to his feet, carrying him in his arms, lest he be left vulnerable and defenseless on the floor around the edgy cat.

[identity profile] cheshire-chain.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Cheshire will repay the favor of those many years ago if we meet again."

He backed up and jumped into the air dissappearing with a swoosh of his scarf. He didn't intend on meeting with Vincent again, but if they happened to meet in a situation that aided him better he'd happily scratch out those mis matched eyes of his.

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Vincent sighed. This turn of events was more troublesome than he'd hoped, and he had just barely settled in. Regardless, things had turned out well enough for as unprepared as he was.

And Gilbert was fine. His fear of cats might be worse from now on, but at least he was free from him now. Shifting a bit, he mentally cursed himself for being so thin and weak, but did not once complain, taking Gilbert back towards his room.

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-23 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
While their build was not so incredibly different, Gilbert was clearly the stronger. As soon as he moved in resistance, Vincent winced. His thrashing had freed him and pushed Vincent back, all of this happening in a matter of second, Vincent was not prepared at all. It was only his fighting instinct and mental coordination that stopped him from attempting to break his fall with his hands. Something like that could have ended breaking his wrist if he had landed on it wrong.

He was rather defenseless, sprawled out on the floor, looking up just in time to see Gil aiming his guns straight at him. Eyes wide, he was struck speechless for a moment. His thoughts were too scrambled in the moment, to make a proper response. His expression was shocked. But despite that, there was not an ounce of fear in his eyes.

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-23 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Vincent righted himself, brushing himself off. He walked over to the discarded gun at his brother's feet and bent to retrieve it. He didn't hesitate, as he gently placed his free hand over Gilbert's own, slightly trembling hand, clenching the front of his shirt. He used great care in his actions, using gentle motions to softly pry Gilbert's fingers off the wrinkled fabric. He stepped closer, his eyes focused intensely on Gilbert's.

His usually harsh facial features had softened completely, and he squeezed Gilbert's hand slightly. "I'm fine, Gil." He said slowly, making sure Gilbert was listening. "See?" He shrugged, like it was nothing. "I saw what happened. Cheshire put you through quite a bit."

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-23 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
"He fled as soon as he managed to cut the two of you loose." Vincent said, sighing. "But he managed to drag you around a bit first. That's why I thought to try and get you back to the room so you could rest. I'm sorry I startled you."

[identity profile] needsnosanity.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Mm-hm." Vincent reinforced, nodding his head. Gilbert wasn't the only one happy to see the feline was gone. "He did throw you around quite carelessly." A hint of defensiveness slipped it's way into Vincent's voice, despite his efforts to keep the comment light-natured. "Perhaps you should get some rest. You still look quite flustered." And despite noting his brother's look, Vincent made no move to let go of his hand.
