Summary: Yujinn is meeting up with friends.
the Story: Yujinn was in a cheerful mood. He was humming slightly as he cooked; making something fairly mild and a little sweet, since that seemed to be the order of the day for this holiday. He set the food on the table, the tea still heating on the stove. he'd taken the bread from the dining room, since he had no idea how to cook that on his own.

Since everything seemed done for the moment, he took a seat, readjusting the barrette in his hair, since it was only mid-way down his back now, and not the length he liked for braiding it.

"I guess it's easy to get used to. This sort of place helps us realize what we have, I suppose."

He grinned.

"And that we're better off without it."

Lawr smiled wistfully, resting his chin on his hand after he'd responded to Yujinn.

"For a number of worlds, I suppose that's right. Not that I can go back to my world."

That's right, for Seeu too, Wonderland was definitely better.

"Do you think you would, if you had the choice?"

It was kind of a stupid question on the surface. But when one considered all Lawr had been through in his home, all the things he'd been forced to do, how quickly he had to grow up... and then considered that if asked the same, his answer would be a resounding NO. Perhaps then, it was not such a simple question.

Yujinn paused, weighing the options. He really did want to see Ishtar and Darres again; he wanted to know how they were doing.

But if leaving meant leaving Seeu...

"I think... given the choice, I would stay here." He said finally. He missed home, but...

"Me too."

Lawr finished off his plate and leaned back, staring at the counter thoughtfully. He wondered if Yujinn's reasons for remaining here were the same as his own, or if his reasons revolved purely around Seeu. Couldn't hurt to ask...

"Why?"

"Because Seeu is here." That was the main reason after all.

"Also, I suppose because I have a clean slate here. I have a hard time dealing with what I've done in the past. I think a number of people would be happy if I wasn't there causing a distraction."

Lawr crossed his arms on the counter and laid his head upon them. He was smiling sweetly, staring fondly at Yujinn.

"Well... you're a good distraction."

Yujinn smiled.

"I'm glad you think so. I messed things up on my world, more than once."

"Everyone makes mistakes," Lawr said reasonably.

He tried to remember what his biggest mistake had been. Was it running away from home to find his brother, or was it trusting the man when he finally found him...?

"But it doesn't mean we're not loved."

"That's what makes it hard." Sure, it hard hurt that Ashley didn't trust him anymore, that Leene was miserable; but it hurt more to think that they did forgive him in their own ways, and in no way deserved it.

Lawr stared at Yujinn for a moment, trying to work something out in his mind. At length, he offered a small smile, shaking his head.

"I think you're too hard on yourself sometimes."

Yujinn smiled back, not really convinced of that. "Perhaps."

He finished his plate, to avoid speaking for a moment.

Lawr gathered up his plate and carried it to the sink. One of the things he truly appreciated about living here was that the cleaning always seemed to do itself. All he had to do was leave it for long enough.

He leaned against the counter, staring into the sink for a moment before rather unexpectedly announcing, "I really love both of you... you and Seeu. I'm so glad I have people like you here."

Yujinn picked up his own things to bring to the sink.

He was surprised by the announcement, but he smiled. "I'm glad you're here too."

Lawr leaned up to give Yujinn a small kiss on the cheek. It was such a soft, sweet gesture that left no doubt of the boy's affection. It wasn't romantic, but rather full of adoration.

"Do you need help cleaning up?"

Yujinn touched his shoulder in return, the way he might have touched Ishtar. In a way, he loved Lawr too, not like Seeu, but it was genuine affection.

"I think the house will do it."

"Okay. I'll... go practice, I guess. Thank you for dinner."

Yujinn gives him a hug.

"We need to do this more often. I enjoy your company."

Lawr smiled faintly and wrapped his arms around the other man's waist, returning the hug gently.

"I hope you enjoyed the meal."

"I did. Thank you."

Lawr nuzzled his face gently against Yujinn's chest, before taking a few steps back and heading happily out of the kitchen again.

Yujinn smiled as he went, glad to see him happy since Michael left.
