Summary: Everyone is stuck with their memories. And some other people.
The Story:
This log's pretty straightforward. There is one thread per group for the first day or two of the event, before people are able to leave their initial dream bubble groupings. ♥ If you have any questions, grab a mod on AIM.

EDIT: The mods have decided to let everyone continue with phase two of the event in this one log, since there's overlap between being stuck in the bubbles and moving between them.

So if you're posting to a group thread that isn't your initial group, just your thread with what day of the event it takes place on so people will know it's not from the first day or so.

Souji's surprised by that and actually looks it for once as he turns toward her. It's not hard to think back to the last event and the chaos it caused for a lot of people. It isn't hard to imagine dying there.

"...You're safe now. Here."

It isn't a promise he makes lightly, because he isn't sure he can keep it no matter the circumstances. But he's making it anyway. He'll do what he has to.

George bites her lip. "I feel like such a wimp."

She's seen so much death. Died once before. And she can die four more times without any real trouble. Why is this so hard?

"It's understandable." Generally, people don't want to die and he knows from experience now that it's unpleasant.

[akapeanut]

"Feeling like a wimp or..." She trails off, knowing he'd only mean the nice thing. He isn't the type to judge her for feeling afraid.

She looks down.

"He killed me because I didn't tell the truth about my event."

[eatsyourscience]

"...Who did?"

[akapeanut]

Shit. Maybe she shouldn't have said.

"I...think his name is Buckingham."

[eatsyourscience]

"...I know who he is." Though he doesn't really know him well.

[akapeanut]

She shrugs a little. She doesn't know him that well either but...

"He seemed okay at the time. I mean, he seemed to understand that it was-- that I had my reasons for not telling everyone."

And she thought they were plenty good reasons.

"So when I told him he should wear a mask and he was already screwed up from the gas he just...kinda...he didn't trust me."

And therein lies the conflict: is it her fault for getting close to humans at all, or is it her fault for being less than completely honest? Either way, it's her fault. But she doesn't know which thing is the problem and therefore doesn't know how to solve it.

"It was because of the event."

[akapeanut]

George looks away.

"Still."

[eatsyourscience]

"You might not believe it, but it isn't your fault."

[akapeanut]

"I don't know. If I'd told the truth before, it wouldn't have happened. If I just...didn't talk to anyone about it..."

She sighs.

"Rube said we shouldn't associate with the living."

[eatsyourscience]

"In your world, that's probably true. Here, things are different."

[akapeanut]

"Are they?" George rubs at her temple, sighing. "I don't know. Maybe I'm dangerous."

[eatsyourscience]

"Then so am I."

[akapeanut]

"You help people. I don't."

[eatsyourscience]

"You've helped me."

[akapeanut]

George looks at him. "When?"

[eatsyourscience]

"When I died."

[akapeanut]

George goes quiet and looks away. "Didn't think you'd remember that."

She fidgets with her shirt for a moment. "I don't know if it balances out."

[eatsyourscience]

"It does to me."

[akapeanut]

George closes her eyes. "Should I tell people what I am?"

[eatsyourscience]

"It's up to you. I think it'd be hard to."

He shifts and looks up at the ceiling.

"I don't usually tell people what I am unless I have to."

[akapeanut]

George thinks for a moment.

"Either I don't say anything and people think I'm hiding something and accuse me of lying if it comes out, or I say something and everyone assumes I'm killing people." She hesitates, continues, "I don't know, it seems pretty fucked either way."

He considers for a minute. "...There's a difference between not volunteering something and hiding something."
