Who: Agent Washington ([personal profile] notthesecondworstfighter) and Adam Milligan ([personal profile] halfwinchester)
Where: Mansion hallways, then someone's room.
When: Feb. 2nd, evening
Rating: PG-13 for now to be safe?
Summary: After running into each other, Wash and Adam hole up and try to stay awake all night to avoid unfortunate angel consequences. Basically, the worst slumber party ever. Of all time.
The Story:

[So, creepy stone angel statues that can kill you if you aren't watching them and even close your eyes in the quickest blink. That's crazy by anyone's standards, but even for Wonderland, Wash has decided that's pushing it. How the hell are they supposed to keep themselves all alive through this event, anyway? The statues had made their creepy way into the mansion and seemed to be around just about any corner you turned and it's really hard to not blink while you watch them and slowly make your getaway.

He'd be better off with people, he knows that. He's been trying to find people, but it seems like most of them are hiding or...something, because he sure hasn't seen anyone since the first or second day. They were all probably smarter than him about this he figures as he scuffs the floor with his armored boot. Most likely, he's completely screwed. If he can't shoot something to destroy it, he's pretty much at a loss and outside his area of expertise with dangerous things. Which, really? Makes it pretty damn scary.

Of course, he'd also nearly had his heart stop on him just a few minutes ago where he'd had to blink, and when he opened his eyes, there were two angels at the end of the hall where he'd just come from. God, this should not be a thing, these things should not be allowed.

Having it in his mind to just get back to his room and stay there for the next few days, Wash starts running down the hall, fully armored as per usual, even if he's doubting that'll help him any against these things. It's kind of a last resort, holing up in his room, but it's the only thing he can think of to do at this point to survive, so even if it's maybe not the best idea, it still seems a hell of a lot better than hanging around out here.]

[ooc: just let me know if anything should be changed about this!]

[That's not a very certain response. Did Wash know or didn't he? After the episode with Crowley, Adam had been in a rush to get away, too, but...]

Yeah. [But don't ask him to ever be one hundred percent sure. He's stuck with a mind that plays tricks on him sometimes, with memory lapses to boot.] Mine's a lot father than that. Is yours going to be safe, though?

[At least he knows his room is hard to bust into for the average person. He'll take his chances with the space cadet over the Weeping Angels, but that doesn't mean anything if they don't have a safe place.]

There is if they can keep these things out.

[A safe room dreamed up to keep soul-sucking angels out would be nice, but if Wash has a room that's close and a door that locks, then that'll have to be a good enough start. Hopefully Wash doesn't mind mirrors, lots and lots of mirrors. Anything that might provide a distraction for statues that don't seem able to deal with a reflection of themselves.

Adam's pretty damn sure he doesn't look like somebody with a better idea, and he just makes a noncommittal gesture at the question. Wash might be giving him too much credit; he doesn't really know what he's doing, he's just along for the ride.]

Would've shared by now if I did. These aren't the angels I know, but they're just as bad. Either we get out of their way or we die, I'm guessing that's our one option.

[Wrong thing to say to the PTSD--addled Hell survivor, man. Even if he wouldn't buy it, Adam can't deny he wouldn't mind hearing some confidence--confidence not his own since he doesn't have much of that. A little "we're not going to die" would be nice.

Against all expectations, demons aren't so bad for that. Crowley at least hadn't been, and Adam gets the feeling the guy's going to be just fine until this blows over, even if he can't say the same for himself. He gives Wash a look of quiet consternation before creeping in the direction the man had indicated. Definitely no sudden locomotion here.

As long as the statue stays put, that's all both of them can ask for. Adam would rather keep his eyes on it as long as possible to ensure it does.]

[Where's a hunter who isn't related to him and who isn't an asshole when you need one?]

Better hope the rumors are true.

[Adam hasn't heard enough from others in the mansion to satisfy him, either; it seems to be another one of those "every man for himself" episodes, to his great and utter joy. Wash isn't so bad, and in fact he's one of the people Adam's gotten on the easiest with despite the awkward personal history they've covered, but he doesn't really know anything about the guy and not much is likely to put a smile on Adam's face short of an instant and permanent fix. Say, snapping your fingers and popping these things like grapes.

Too bad that's not going to happen.]

Where?

[At least both ends of the hall are covered with two people watching. If Wash is going to watch the front, Adam can watch the rear, though at a certain point he has to slow and ask where to go next. There are a lot of damn rooms in these halls and they all look the same from the outside.]

[Walking doesn't bother him, but having to hitchhike down an endless corridor to reach a person's bedroom is another story. Weeping Angels is the one event where Adam can't shoot Wash a skeptical look even if he wants to.]

Yeah, I kind of am, too.

[But then Adam's choice of room isn't much better--he'd picked the top floor precisely to get himself away from the rest of the mansion. If the Weeping Angels are smart they'd sit themselves down on the stairs, the same stairs everyone would be fleeing down if they wanted to leave.]

Why so far?

[Hiking into the middle of a never-ending mansion. Sounds about as ridiculous as being chased by invisible angels.]

You must really be into long walks.

[For the rest of the trip, he's silent for most of it, trying his best to keep his fear locked up tight where it won't come bubbling out. One of the few reasons Adam feels all right entering a strange room with a strange person is that the monsters outside the room are a lot more frightening; he breathes a quiet sigh of relief when they reach the room where at least one of them knows the layout.

At Wash's signal, he goes in, not without looking to and fro for aforementioned Weeping Angels. The cat doesn't seem to be scared out of its mind, and it's not dead yet, so that's... a good sign, right?]

[Talk about a decorating theme. On a grand scale of bad to worse, though, Adam will take a cat and a futuristic apartment straight out of one of those specialty hotels over Weeping Angels.

And truth be told, not having winged automatons barking orders as the angels he knows tend to do is better than being the dummy on a string as he, himself, tends to be. If neither of them know what the hell they're doing, they're even.]

The last one I ran into didn't get in. It could be enough.

[He nods, agreeing.

Then again, Crowley had helped by slapping up a bunch of shit on the walls and door, but it's not like Adam knows how to replicate that stuff... He'll be happy with mirror duty and just try to cover as many bases as possible.]

Okay.

[Nope, no complaints here. Go Team Survival.]

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-03-31 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Seriously, Wash, don't start with that shit. He's not even going to respond to the part about this type of angel being able to teleport and instead hopes the cat will live up to the idea that animals have sharper senses and warn them first if something pops into the room.

As far first times at the rodeo go, Adam's getting used to pulling mirrors out of magic closets on short notice--along with everything else a person can think of over weeks and months living in Wonderland. All he finds he needs to do is cover as many bases as he can when he thinks of what he wants, so he treats the closet like a catalogue he can flip through in his mind. Once he settles on the item he wants, the closet makes it happen.

He's moved two standing mirrors out of the closet by the time Wash finishes barricading the door, small and light enough to rearrange how they need but able to stand up in a frame on their own.]

Like a disco ball?

[A thing that reflects light in all directions sounds about right for Wonderland's sense of humor, but when Adam carries the first mirror into view, they clearly haven't entered the disco era just yet.]

There's another one to catch the other angle.

[Dangerous, to start thinking you're not completely fucked in the presence of Adam Milligan, Hell boy extraordinaire. At some point perhaps all that bad luck will go full circle and somehow start becoming good luck again.

Like now. Now would be good. He's survived this long in Wonderland without a pair of brothers pulling his ass out of the fire (or throwing him into the fire), he can get through one more event, can't he? God, he hopes so, because he really doesn't know shit about these Weeping Angels.]

If these two can't cover the door by themselves, maybe another. One to face the window.

[And if they're going to go full on circus fun house... He looks at Wash, eyebrows raised.]

You could just wish your room to be one floor to ceiling mirror.
halfwinchester: (♟ better the world or in courts or slums)

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-04-06 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Don't be such a big baby! Who's supposed to be the oldest one in the room here? Wait, scratch that, Adam probably still is by a landslide. Still, of all the men who've been in his life, he has yet to be around who hasn't been domineering and not expecting him to follow their example.

It's still strange to have others defer to him, even if that's everything he's craved for a long time.]

It wasn't a serious suggestion, but it's not like it's not doable.

[Hey, do what you want, but is there really such a thing as excessive survival?]
