Man, you look different.
::He looks down at his sandwich.::
Yeah. Not about to trust the dining room any time soon. Don't need someone else getting hold of my body. They might break my automail.
no subject
[ Blake doesn't particularly care for for any of it, but she's trying to take things in stride, because there's a good chance things could get out of hand. She finishes buttering the bread and then grabs another two slices. ]
You like grilled cheese?
no subject
Well, you're full of cheerful thoughts.
::Then he shrugs.::
Sure, it's fine with me.
no subject
[ Do you even know what it takes to tame so much hair, Ed? Oh... wait. Yeah, okay, nevermind. ]
Thought I might make some soup, too. Tomato?
no subject
He shrugs::
Sure. Sounds good to me. You normally make a habit of feeding whoever happens to be in here when you are.
no subject
[ Said with something of a proud smile. Blake's a bit like a grandma in that way, and aims to keep everyone fed. And since she enjoys cooking (and cleaning up after herself, believe it or not), so it works out. ]
Miss workin', you know? This isn't work. This is just existin', isn't it? I miss havin' a real purpose.
[ She puts a pan on the stove and turns on the heat. ]

::Ed finishes his sandwich.::
And now that I've got my brother back, I'm at loose ends again.
no subject
You two should do somethin' together. Maybe teach a class. Or a sport. Might be kinda nice.
[ And it would certainly give them both some purpose, wouldn't it? Plus, more chances for Blake to appreciate their sibling relationship (never having an opportunity for one of his own). ]
no subject
That would result in Al doing everything because I kinda fail at explaining things well to lay people. There's been a couple times when I tried explaining alchemy to people before giving up and telling them to ask him.
no subject
[ Not that Blake has a ton of experience to fall back on, but at least she can be assured of what she's seen of these boys and how they interact with each other. ]
Can hurt to give it a thought.

[ And then, a little more candidly. ] How've you an' your brother been? Saw Greed an' he was... [ A shake of her head. It was something else to hear all that Greed had to offer about his time back home. ] Well, I'm sure you know.
no subject
::Okay, Ed's exaggerating. He's only left about half a dozen.::
no subject
Mm. If he's gotta come back, it's nice he's got friends here.
Think the four of us can get together again? Maybe go campin' now that the weather's clearin' up?
no subject
::Now he raises an eyebrow at Blake.::
Are you gonna want to get all food supplies from the house, or are you up to some of the food being acquired by hunting?
no subject
[ All things considered, she's done enough killing in her time (which is considerably less than everyone else, but hey, it's all relative. ]
Should we wait 'til it gets warmer?
no subject
I can handle that. Gonna be sticking to rabbits, since not only are deer overkill, there's, uh, James.
::Which makes hunting deer very 'NOPE' for Ed.::
Anyway, yeah, we should probably wait until it's warmer, just to make sure the place doesn't decide to throw a cold snap at us to be funny.
no subject
[ Blake scrunches up her nose and takes a seat. ]
What's rabbit like? Have you had it?
[ Because if Blake has to cook it eventually, maybe it's good to know. ]
no subject
Yeah, I've had it. Caught my first rabbit when I was ten. Al and I ended up fighting over who would kill it because neither of us wanted to do it. That time, a fox stole it for it's offspring. We followed it but watching it being eaten, kinda, uh, killed our appetites.
::Ed blinks as he realizes he's tangenting somewhat.::
It's good. It can be greasy though, so that's something you're probably gonna want to keep in mind. One thing to be said about the cook it on a stick over a campfire method is that it makes it easy for the excess fat to go somewhere else.
no subject
Think just 'bout anything on a stick cooked over a campfire's gotta be good. Just too bad 'bout s'mores not growin' on trees. That'd make me a bit happier 'bout foraging.
no subject
::Ed's tone is slightly dry although it normalizes soon enough.::
Nothing keeping us from taking the makings with us. I wasn't exactly planning on doing much foraging anyway. Just the bit of hunting.
::He scratches at the back of his neck.::
Probably should have done some earlier to keep my skills up, but with the way the place works...
no subject
Yeah, can pretty much rely on things goin' crazy no matter what kinda plans you have for keepin' up. Been hatin' myself all this week while tryin' to just get through my regular trainin' exercises.
[ She places the bowl and a spoon in front of Ed and then takes a seat with her own soup. There may or may not be a grilled cheese charring on the stove, but Blake's too preoccupied to notice. ]
no subject
::Ed nods his thanks and starts working on the soup, also oblivious of the sandwich trying to become a chunk of charcoal.::
no subject
Blake blinks and then glances back and then immediately presses up to stand. ]
Shit, shit, shit, shit!
[ Watch as she pulls that ruined food off the stove, expression the picture of disappointment. ]
Well, that's a waste...
no subject
Think I jinxed it?
