Who: Ellen or Porthos and EVERYONE
Where: Ellen: Bar, mostly
Porthos: Outside, wandering, or the library
When: The length of the event.
Rating: PG?
Summary: Catch all for my people.
The Story: OOC:

Ellen: She'll mostly be in the bar, and there will be songs playing. REO, Bon Jovi, Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR, AC/DC... She might even have some jazz going (Ella Fitzgerald is her fave).

She'll also be shimmying around and being THE BEST BARTENDER EVER. EVAR.

Porthos: Porthos doesn't like Wonderland, but he's got good wine, some heartier drinks and will be wandering around outside, breaking into raunchy tavern songs at random times. Yep.

Natasha knows a lot of old folklore and legends. She'd just never thought any of it would be applicable to real life.

She nods as Ellen explains that, a frown on her face as she tries to remember other things lurking in her memory that might also be true. "Doors and windows? Or a circle?" She's thinking more practically now, how you could use salt as a barrier for protection.

"So making holy water doesn't require any religions?" That sounded strange to her, but what did she know?

"Makes sense," Natasha comments, filing that away, but the latter part gets a surprised look from her. "You know Latin?" It's not something she comes across often, and there's a flicker of respect as she nods. "The belief might be a tricky thing the first few times until its proven to work."

Of course it is. Which is why she's impressed. There's not a lot of people who can even claim that much.

"Does it still work even if I'm not sure I can believe in it? Or is that a necessary... Ingredient doesn't seem like the right word, but maybe in a way it is, isn't it?"

"We're playing nice with the demons as well?" That's interesting information. "Good to know. And one I can sympathize with."

She pokes the bag of salt with a finger, her lips quirking in a rueful grimace. "Pity that this probably doesn't work on Norse gods."

"White ash?" She's surprised that there's actually a known way of slaying a Norse god. Then again, demons and angels and vampires and werewolves, why not?

"You really know of a way to kill a Norse god. That's... You must come from a very strange place. Although yes. Sort of. I'm not sure it would work the same way, when the one I'm thinking of is from my world, not yours. And his godhood is... questionable. He's here, and he's caused a lot of trouble back home." Understatement. "He hasn't done anything here yet, even approached some of us in a surprisingly neutral manner. But I like having all my bases covered, just in case."

Natasha steals an onion ring to munch on before picking up the stake, examining it with careful intensity. There's nothing special about it, except she's feeling like it's something better served in an episode of Buffy than against someone like Loki.

"Why?" she finally asked after a moment, turning the stake over in her hands as she cast Ellen a curious glance. "Why white ash and why lambs blood? Is there a reason for that combination?"

"Wait, a stake through the heart doesn't work?" Natasha looks both surprised and bemused by that. "Damn. Someone better tell Buffy she's doing it wrong. I've never heard about the blood thing though. Not that I'm an expert in vampire lore."

She blinks at the mention of that very specific name, going carefully still for a moment before purposefully reaching for another fry. "You know Loki?"

"Damn." Natasha takes a moment to contemplate that. "Sounds like it would be a pain in the ass." Doable, but still a pain in the ass. "Remind me not to visit wherever you come from. It sounds about as much like a vacation as this place. Although I admit, the challenge of it sounds intriguing."

"Claiming to be?" That's a very specific word choice and Natasha doesn't let it pass. "So he wasn't actually Loki."

"You make a good point," Natasha drawls with wry humor, taking another long swallow of her drink. She flicked a glance at Ellen out of the corner of her eye, then chuckled. "I don't know whether to congratulate you on your near miss or worry that you found something worse."
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Puzzled)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2014-05-28 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Natasha frowns at that, not sure if she's still missing a chunk of the conversation or not. Did she mean Loki's brother or whoever was trying to pass as him. Couldn't hurt to ask, she supposed.

"Thor?"

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2014-05-30 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Archangel," Natasha echoes. "They're... what, a higher rank or something than regular angels, right?" She's not religious but she knows some of the lore at least. Although the rest of that explanation has her going still. "When you were talking angels and demons, you weren't kidding around. The actual Lucifer?"
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Really?)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2014-05-31 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Great," Natasha sighs, tossing back the last of her drink with a grimace. Sounds like this was going to be a fun stay. "He wouldn't be the first one. Besides, if the lore was anywhere near true, he's had a grudge a long time. I'll keep my eyes open, don't worry."
