[He eyes the melon again before shrugging with a grin.] Sure, why not? Where's the blindfold?

[breakthecurse]

Ah! Right here! Let me help you with it!

[And she stands close behind him and helps him put on the blindfold on. She doesn't tie it too tight, but tight enough that it won't fall off. Then she gives him the stick (or rather, she places the stick in his hands since he can't really see).]

Okay, and now you spin around three times and then try to hit the watermelon! [She sounds very excited that he wants to play! But then she remembers that oh, right, she should be standing a good distance away.] U-Um, I'm going to back up now. Good luck, Alphonse!

[Al laughs as Tohru ties on the blindfold, and once he has the stick and is sure she's clear spins around a few more times than the three prescribed--mostly because of how fast he spun himself.]

W-woah! Oh jeez--am I still facing the right way? [He stumbles forward a few steps past the sheet.]

[breakthecurse]

Um, you're a little...

[But she remembers that telling him is cheating, and it defeats the point of the blindfold!]

I-I mean, you can do it, Alphonse! Give it your best swing!

[seekingbrother]

U-um, okay! [Al plants his feet firmly in the sand and sweeps the stick to try and find some reference. He feels it push against the tarp and he grins, quickly raising it over his head for a yell and hard swing downward.]

[breakthecurse]

[And...miss!]

Ahh! That was really close! Keep trying, Alphonse!

[Though frankly, knowing Tohru, she would say that no matter how close he'd actually been.]

[seekingbrother]

Okay! [He turns a bit and tries for a sideways swipe this time, more like a golf swing than what he's probably supposed to be doing. He certainly hits the melon this time, but it also sends the chunk he separated flying off of the canvas.] I got it, I got it!

[breakthecurse]

You did! You got it!

[Tohru cheers happily for him, even if his method was a little unconventional and his piece of watermelon is probably covered in sand several yards away.]

That was really great! You did a good job, Alphonse!

[seekingbrother]

[He grins and pulls off the blindfold, blinking a few times before turning to Tohru.] Hehe, thanks! That was pretty fun--oh, whoops.

[And he's spotted that sandy chunk of watermelon now.] Guess I did a little too well!

[breakthecurse]

[Once he sees how far it flew, Tohru chuckles a bit.]

Maybe just a little. But it was still a really impressive hit!

[seekingbrother]

[He laughs and scratches his neck self-consciously, jogging over to pick up the wayward chunk.] And most of the melon stayed on the tarp, so no real harm done, right?

[breakthecurse]

That's right! Most of it is still okay.

[There's a piece that's hanging off the watermelon that didn't quite get ripped off all the way, and Tohru crouches down to pull it off herself. Then, she holds it out to him with a big smile.]

Here! You should probably have a piece that isn't so sandy.

[seekingbrother]

[Al smiles widely and drops the ruined chunk at the edge of the tarp before accepting the piece Tohru offers him.] Thank you!

[He takes a bite and swallows before looking down at the rest of the melon.] ...should I smack it again to break it up more? Or do we just cut it normally at this point?

[breakthecurse]

Um, whichever you'd like! Though...I didn't actually bring a knife. But I have a lot of spoons!

[You know, so they can all scoop out the rest like it's a bowl!]

[Al grins and wipes the stick off on his swimming trunks before setting it aside.] Using the spoons would probably be better, 'cause I don't think I could get it into small enough chunks without completely obliterating it.

[breakthecurse]

Spoons it is then!

[She goes to retrieve them, but makes sure to come back quickly.]

I think you're right, you know - it would probably go everywhere if we kept beating it to a pulp!

Yeah, we really would! I mean, it'd be fun, but then no one would get anything to eat. [Al takes one of the spoons, but keeps working on what's left o his little chunk before digging into the rest of the melon.]

[breakthecurse]

That's true! It's more fun if everyone gets to share it afterwards, I think.

[Since Tohru doesn't have her own chunk, she spoons a little bit out of the watermelon and pops it in her mouth. She looks almost surprised by the taste though. She's had watermelon before, but it's more of a rare treat for her.]

Mm! It's really good! It's so sweet!
