[He repeats the words curiously, and his gaze drops down to eye the bottle held out to him with uncertainty. The alcohol is unlikely to really effect him in any way at all, given the small amount. It... It's not so wrong to just give it a try, right? Plenty of his brothers have tried human food and drink!
There's a moment of hesitance, but in the end, he reaches out and accepts the bottle from Ed.]
Thank you. [For the warning, that is. And the drink.] This buzz you mentioned... Is it a pleasant sensation?

[He seems to contemplate this for a moment, looking down at the bottle in his hand.]
This is one of the things I really don't understand about humans. The alcohol. Why is it that you enjoy your awareness and inhibitions being lowered?
[Probably not the sort of questions Ed -- or anyone -- wants to be answering, but hey, you give the angel booze, he's going to raise the questions he's had for centuries about it.
Still, he twists the cap of with hesitant ease, then brings the bottle up to his nose to take a curious sniff.]

::Ed's on the second end of said spectrum. Getting killed will do that to a guy.::
no subject
[Frowning now, he looks back to Ed, almost as though frustrated with the human race. Even if angels are hardly the epitome of healthy coping mechanisms.]
It seems more damaging than helpful, ultimately.
no subject
::Just a bit wry there.::
Besides, people do all sorts of stupid shit when they're in a bad enough mental place.
no subject
[The same goes for angels, really.]
Well. Thank you. I suppose it's about time I try some human things.
[A little nod of thanks and a tip of the bottle to indicate that he's thanking Ed for the drink (though he appreciates the information, too), Samandriel finally lifts the beer to his lips and takes an awkward sip.]

::A pause before Ed asks the next bit for in case Samandriel decided to be literal about things.::
Figuratively, not literally.

Oh, I'm sure they wouldn't. However, I believe that may be a bit fast for me. I don't wish to get carried away... And it's still such a strange idea, eating.
[Drinking too, but since he's still got the taste of the beer in his mouth--do all drinks taste so...bad?--he doesn't add it.]
no subject
::He points out, amused.
No, they don't, but Ed did warn you that beer takes getting used to.::

[It's hard to explain, but food is just weird, okay?]
no subject
::Why yes, that was a reference to Castiel's recent hamburger binge thanks to Famine.::
no subject
[He's still learning about these teasing and sarcasm concepts.]
It seems very unlikely that will happen. ...I don't even know why you would suggest it might.
[See, there's the missing teasing again. Though, it doesn't help that he's unaware of Castiel's recent passion for burgers.]
no subject
::He makes a face.::
I was definitely done with both by the time the weekend was over.
no subject
I should say you must have been. But at least you had someone looking out for you. No doubt things would have been much worse if you'd not been fed some hamburgers, obscene amount or not.

::He looks down at his arm.::
Thanks to my automail, I need more food than the average guy my size, so yeah. It would have been bad.
no subject
[As sympathetic as he tries to be, the fact that Cas has helped the two brothers so much is what really hits Samandriel. It makes Cas all the more impressive. Even if perhaps he does sometimes do too much for others.]
Your automail? [Curious, he looks down at Ed's arm as well.] Do you mind if I ask why that is? And the purpose of this "automail" in the first place?
no subject
Lost my arm all the way to the shoulder. Lost most of my left leg, too. They're replacements for the limbs I lost. Don't have the fine motor control I did with the originals, but they serve me well enough.
Anyway. ::He taps his right shoulder with his left hand.:: This is the port. In it is something that converts glucose into energy that my arm can actually use. There's another in my leg for the same purpose. So with the amount it goes through, I need more to eat. Both to power my arm and leg and to fuel the rest of me.
no subject
That's rather incredible. Did you create these substitutes and methods? Or was it someone else?
[Now he's leaning in closer to the arm being held up for him, possibly, almost definitely invading Ed's personal space as he inspects it.]

Someone else did sometime before I was born. Which means my world is pretty ahead of the curve compared to Earth, given that I was born in 1899 and someone from around a century later--I don't remember who at the moment--said people from there still haven't come up with something like this.

Well, it probably helps that alchemy actually works on my world, because the converters in my ports were made using it. It's also why we've got color photos sooner than people on Earth do. On the flip side, we don't have planes yet even though at the point I'm from, Earth has some early ones.
no subject
[That just makes it all the more fascinating how different some of the worlds people here come from are.]
Alchemy is an important part of your world, I take it.
For God's sake, go to bed.
::He grimaces a little, thinking about his country.::
Of course, the military found a way to weaponize it. Kinda goes against the whole 'Be thou for the people' thing. At least the State Alchemist program is over with, according to my brother. It got dismantled after I, uh, disappeared.
no subject
It sounds to me as though they were using you alchemists as weapons yourselves. Is that correct?
