Above the Arctic Circle. There was a dome, until it broke and Ultron destroyed it. It was all of us plus Tony. Because of Ultron, we never got to leave.

Ultron, huh?

[Kate winces a little. She remembers that name, albeit mostly from history classes. Dr. Pym's very own Frankenstein's monster.

But that was years ago. And Ultron has - so far - actually stayed good and dead.

There's no escape from the chaos multiverse, is there?]

Didn't Pym succeed in triggering the fail safe?

I don't think Tony built in a fail-safe. Or if he did, it evolved and removed it.

[ He blinks. ]

Wait, you fought Ultron?

[tryit]

[His words make her blink as well.]

Stark didn't build Ultron. At least, that's what I've been told. I never actually fought him myself. Though I did work with his creation -- Vision.

My Tony built Ultron.

[ It's something he'd admitted to. ]

And I think Mr. Vision was an alien. He was spying on Ultron for Tony. He's the one that found Hawkeye.

[tryit]

[Yeeeeah. This is definitely an alternate Earth scenario going on right now, isn't it? She's still not sure which she prefers: time-travelling insanity or all this multiverse crap. It's one thing dealing with them in small doses. Being here in Wonderland is something else entirely.

She hesitates just a second before asking:]

Which Hawkeye?

[ James' mouth quirks just the tiniest bit. He enjoys saying Hawkeye's name just because it made him mutter. ]

Francis Barton. Clint Barton's son.

[tryit]

[Her brow wrinkles at that statement. Clint, with a son?]

Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to let him reproduce?

[ He shrugs. ]

All of the Avengers had kids.

[tryit]

I know Lang did. [Her BFF, Cassie, had been Ant-Man's daughter.] And the Scarlet Witch... well, I guess that one's more complicated. But as far as I know, Clint has no kids that he's aware of.

[Thank god for that.]

I think Luke Cage was the last Avenger to actually have a kid.

[ He sighs. ]

I don’t think your Avengers were my Avengers. I don’t think any of the Avengers here are the same. It’s… weird. When Tony used to talk about multiverse stuff, he used to talk about the mutants, not the Avengers.

I recently spent some time universe hopping with my friends. Trust me. I've seen weirder.

[Like all those 'verses filled with evil versions of her friends... and the rest of the Avengers.]

We never did. I don’t think anyone did once Ultron took over.

[ At least the way he understands it. ]

Is it fun?

[tryit]

[She shrugs. Given the circumstances, they all had a lot more fun than you would have expected.]

Some. It's true what they say, though. There's no place like home.

What's it like, really? I've never been anywhere except home, Ultra City, and then the desert.

[tryit]

What? New York or the multiverse as a whole? Cause let me tell you, it's next to impossible to try to summarize all those different Earths in a concise statement one hundred words or less.

New York. Tony lived there, but he didn't want to talk about it. I think it was the first place Ultron took over.

[ He's interested in the multiverse too, but even he knows that can't be described simply. ]
