☾ nightfury at the gates (open)
Who: Toothless and you.
Where: Outside the mansion, pretty much anywhere.
When: 6/23
Rating: This is a kid's movie! (G. I'll update if it changes!)
Summary: Toothless arrives back at the mansion without any memory of it. ...'Arrives' is probably oversimplifying it. 'Crashes' is more accurate.
The Story:
It's funny, but Toothless doesn't remember hedges in Berk. He doesn't even know what a hedge is, in fact, but the shape in front of him strikes him as Viking-made. Plants don't actually grow like that, do they? Is he on some weird new island where the plants are different?
All he remembers is flying — and then not flying.
Speaking of which, with a quiet cry of alarm, the Nightfury lurches to his feet. Hiccup! Was he thrown clear? Where is he? The area around him is large, and he can also smell — is that a beach, maybe beyond the treeline? For a moment, he stands unnaturally still, trying to pinpoint the sound of his best friend's voice. But all he hears are unfamiliar voices, and the rustling of wind through trees. It only makes the thrill of horror in his chest greater, and Toothless immediately sets off at a run.
Or he tries to, at least.
His thoughts being as distracted as they are, his mad dash is foiled by the fish pond being in the way. The Nightfury plunges, unintentionally, underneath the surface, and comes up with wide green eyes, scrambling for the shore amidst the frantic movements of fish beneath him. Such is the gravity of the situation that the fish don't even factor into his mind, just yet. He comes back up on land and this time sets off at a much more successful run, soaking wet and wings tucked tight to his body for greater speed.
Every once in a while, he lets out a loud, long, distressed sounding call — sort of the dragon version of Hey! Where are you? With the speed of his movements, hopefully no one will find themselves in his way.
[ooc: Both prose and action spam are fine by me.]

"Okay, good, there's that much, at least. I'm guessing you just arrived? The place likes to pull in lots of different people from different places. And apparently the occasional dragon. So, uh, you aren't at home. Obviously."

Ed isn't sure what personal belongings a dragon would even have, so he went with a person as an example.
"Not so good uses are these things we call events. That's when it takes a memory from someone's head and changes things around to imitate it. Whatever we're going through can be either harmless, if annoying, or dangerous. An example of a harmless one is when no one was able to lie." Thank you, Greed. "A dangerous one drew on someone where the dead don't stay that way and attacked the living, trying to make us like them."

Then he grows wary at dangerous, rumbling a little in the back of his throat. So this place is dangerous, and not just weird? That's good to know.

Or because a trap had knocked him out of the sky.

But he seems to nod, a moment later, in assent. Maybe he'll look for Hiccup inside, next, if he doesn't find him out here. Perhaps Hiccup has already gone inside to see the changing rooms; that does sound like something the viking would do.

"Another thing you should know is that inside there's a lot of mirrors and there's people that look exactly like us over there. They basically are us although their personalities are switched around from ours, so you'll want to watch out for them. My own Mirror--as we call them--isn't very nice."

He cants his head to the side, listening. Unpleasant people behind... something. People who looked just like the vikings here? More danger. Just peachy. How much danger will he have to contend with to find Hiccup? Not that it matters — Toothless will weather anything to help his viking friend.
Toothless rumbles, again in a confused manner. Why are the vikings warring with vikings who look like them?

That's not exactly unheard of, although Berk has mostly kept to itself since acquiring the homeless dragons of Toothless old nest. They're downright peaceful, in fact, barring the presence of the dragons themselves. Toothless knows from experience that not all viking encampments are as nice as Berk turned out to be. He used to have the cuts to prove it, before Hiccup started taking such good care of him.
He trills quietly. Who's this Queen of Hearts viking? Is she covered in bloody hearts?

His trill quiets to a rumble, as he glances over the grass and in the direction of the forest. Is the forest dangerous, too?

Of course, if Hiccup is out there, passed out...
But he'll wake up again, closer. But what if he doesn't?
The Nightfury whines quietly in the back of his throat, more dog-like than cat-like at the moment. This island comes with too many worries, if you ask him.

Perhaps magic is to blame.
He makes another whine again, looking frantically around them. It's time to look for Hiccup again. But he gives his new friend a gentle nudge, to thank him for the information, before he turns tail — thankfully not hitting Ed with it — and lopes off in a new direction.
